Chapter 8:

Final Fight part 2

Ardent's Fall

It was just me and Xinx again, for some reason jumping around was funny since it felt like there was something pulling me upward. The glaive that I have now summoned was nearly a part of me, and I was sure to show Xinx just that.

“Get ready!” - he screamed

Initially he only crystallized his body a little. Definitely underestimating me, and he was sure to regret it soon enough. As I swung my weapon he put his hands in an X position to block it, but his hands were cut almost like butter. The shock on his face was pleasurable to see. Parts of his crystals were mixed in with his blood, so it was quite shiny, but the bleeding didn’t last long, as his crystals quickly became way thicker in the places I cut, which stopped the bleeding.

“New tricks I see... Won’t catch me by surprise again!”

Xinx then proceeded to try and close the distance between us at all times, which made it harder for me to use my gun summoning ability, so I decided to concentrate fully on perfectly using the glaive. Back, left, left, right then back again, jumping around and swinging occasionally turned out to be rather easy, it was almost like I wasn’t fighting the same person. After one more cut around his right shoulder, Xinx finally backed out, though I don’t think he did it for a reason of being scared of getting cut or anything like that. I tried to close the distance between us, but he assumed some weird stance that I wasn’t sure whether it was safe to approach him. It was my mistake to hesitate. Massive amounts of Ishiki came out flowing out of him, and the crystals that covered his body became so massive and so bright he looked almost inhuman.

“ Now it’s really time to shine! Crystallization 100%!”

He jumped at me and although his speed wasn’t that much higher from before, my blade was once again useless in front of his skin. Again huh. The slashes each bounced off, it was quite funny, it reminded me of our first encounter. Before I knew it, my dodges became sloppy, I think I underestimated him, as he grabbed my Glaive by its blade and smashed me in the face, knocking me to the ground. The punch was powerful, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, my hit and run tactics from before must’ve been pretty effective. I jumped away to gain my ground again, and Xinx slowly started slowly coming up to me, it seemed like he thought he had it in the bag. But not long after that, a familiar voice echoed in the room.

“Saya! The ceiling!” - Alva’s voice came from above

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The curse on my fingers was slowly crumbling, though it didn’t hurt. Gerdo in front of me seemed as confused as I was, but he soon decided to continue his attack. I jumped back but was more focused on my hand, and I didn’t react to his ability in time, which pulled me closer and hit me.

“Haha not feeling good?”

He taunted me as he was getting sure of his victory, his ability was sure to be effective again, but I grabbed a rock pillar that was standing from the ground. I held to it pretty tightly, but Gerdo’s ability was stronger, which pulled me, though then I realised something, my hand made a scratching sound as I was pulled towards him.

“What’s all this?” - Gerdo was confused about something

I turned around and saw a bunch of sparks flying behind me, as I approached Gerdo, the sparks came flying and hit his face, after which they disappeared.

“Ah you snake!” - Gerdo said as he was rubbing his eyes - “So this is what you’ve been hiding huh? “

It dawned on me, my constant worry about the curse must’ve manifested my ability as something similar. I thought bluffing to make it seem like I had more control on my Ability that I did

“Sorry Gerdo, I don’t often reveal my Spark Again, but when I do, it’s often quick.”

“Haha! That’s what I like to see!”

Gerdo prepared to lunge at me again, I jumped back and his ability activated again. I needed to activate my ability again, sure it had something to do with friction right? I snapped my fingers in front of gerdo and surely, the sparks came out, they blasted gerdo in the face again, which deactivated his ability.

I jumped back to judge the situation, I was able to hear someone fighting below us, I mean the caves were connected after all.

“Ah you’re annoying!” - Gerdo said - “ Let’s solve it all at once!”

He was ready to charge at me, and I thought I had to do the same. As I was running towards him, he did the same, the swing he did was his doom, I was able to slide under him, and flicker my fingers under his legs, and used my Ability, blowing the sparks into his chest, knocking him upwards, smashing him into the ceiling.

“Ahh, that was hard” - I laid on the ground, but a sound from below disturbed it - “ Wait is that Saya?” - I thought

I beat my opponent, I think helping her would be the best outcome - “Saya! The ceiling!” - I screamed with my full power

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I threw my weapon at the ceiling which shattered it, a small hole was enough for me to see Alva.through.

“Saya!! I’ll help you!”

I jumped and Alva proceeded to summon some sort of flaming sparks, which coated my weapon. As I was falling, the momentum should be enough to cut through Xinx.

“Xinx!!!” - I screamed

“Haha your trick won’t work on me!”

The blade sliced through his chest like butter, leaving him to fall on the ground. It was finally over. Once the bandits have heard Xinx has lost there wasn't much resistance, some ran while others surrendered. Yamija did a great job at holding them at bay.

Half a day later, the trains were running once again and we were all ready to go. Sasagi and Yami came to depart us.

"It's a shame you're not coming with us!" - I said

" I've been thinking about it and who knows maybe I'll come and join you later, I just need to clear some stuff up here first" - Sasangi proclaimed

" What about you Yami?" - Asked Alva

"Haha it's not for me, I decided to protect this town so accidents like these never happen again"

" Well then, good luck, to both of you"

As our train departed all of us waved at each other, probably sad this is how ends.

"Alva, thanks for coming with me, I really appreciate it" - I mumbled that out

"Thanks, I'm grateful to you too"

As both of us gave our honest thoughts out, our journey was just starting, with a contract needed to be finished in Lusque, with our questions having no answers yet, the path we started to thread was not yet over.
