Yushina is an ordinary high school student living in the city of Aokami. Everything in her life is routine—normal friends, normal family, and normal dreams. But on the first day of her high school year, she notices something strange on her schedule: a class called Flying Book. “What is that? Did they make a mistake?” she thinks to herself. Curious, she decides to attend.

In the class, the teacher introduces the concept of Book Companions—creatures that are created by combining an empty book with a natural element, serving as lifelong companions to their owners. “A book companion? Like a magical pet?” Yushina wonders in disbelief.
