I'll say that August's awkwardness and negative disposition towards Olivia was relatable in a surreal way. As in, someone you've known for a long time and who is an anchor of sorts suddenly getting 'replaced' so to say. That might not be what's happening, but that's what it felt like it felt like to him. Something like that must be hard to reconcile and I think you nailed the feeling.
To project a lil bit, there's been a couple times where someone I thought I knew randomly showed up differently and not just like... physically, but it's like their entire personality and essence changed, so it was kind of like being around a stranger, and given August/I aren't exactly social butterflies it was like that anchor suddenly began to float instead, idk
And if August liked OlivER I can kinda see why he's >:( about the whole thing, especially because Olivia is so laissez faire about it while he's having an existential crisis. It'd be nice to know how she's feeling about the whole thing, but again, it's like Oliver died and Olivia took over as an impostor and/or I'm just projecting, who knows
Alternatively he's just horny about tiddy and I'm overthinking this but that's the beautiful thing about art, and for what it's worth, it's one of my favorite things that I've read from you so far. Really looking forward to see where this goes c:
