Chapter 46:

What Is Real?

Assassins Who Cleanse Sins Away

Narrator: "This world is surrounded by crime, greed, and many other sins. When people gave up hope for peace there are a group of assassins that would cleanse the world. If you're truly tormented by anyone and want vengeance, then you must call upon The Sweepers and they will take vengeance for you."

In Lake City, a young girl named Cassidy stares at the bridge she walks through every day remembering what happened there. A flashback to last week, a crowd formed at the bridge, and Cassidy was wondering what was going on.

Woman 1: “That poor girl.”

Man 1: “The police are saying that it was a mere accident.”

Woman 2: “What do you mean?”

Woman 1: “The police said that she had to slip off the bridge and fell in the water and drowned. There was no one else here and no one was with her therefore she lost her balance and fell in the water.”

Cassidy walks through the crowd and discovers the dead girl is her best friend, Vikki.

Cassidy: “Oh my God! Vikki!!”

Police Officer 1: “Poor kid she should’ve been careful.”

Police Officer 2: “Are you sure this was an accident? She could’ve killed herself.”

Police Officer 3: “I asked some of the people around here. One person said that they heard a girl scream but when it was called in someone in the station thought it was a prank call. If only that person took it seriously then this girl would’ve been saved.”

Police Officer 1: “It was not suicide it was an accidental death.”

Cassidy: “No! It can’t be! There’s no way she could’ve slipped and fell off the bridge! She had to been murdered! Someone killed her!”

Police Officer 2: “Sorry but your friend’s death is an accident.”

It is back in the present.

Cassidy: “I know she was murdered... She must’ve been at the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe she saw something she wasn’t supposed to and someone pushed her off the bridge. Don’t worry Vikki I’ll find out who did this to you.” She looked at her hand and the date show’s October 16th. “When I do you’ll get justice for your death.”

Nearby a girl with blonde hair was glaring at Cassidy. Meanwhile, Christiana and Meadow are walking with Abigail around the city.

Christiana: “I wonder if we’ll get more clients, it’s been a slow month for us.”

Meadow: “Luckily, we’re also demon hunters so we don’t have to worry about money.”

Christiana: “Yeah but I know the others have been itching to kill.”

Meadow: “How do you like your new hunting weapon?”

Christiana: “It’s much better than my sword but at the same time I miss it. I’ve always wanted a scythe it was my first choice but at the time I was too young for it.”

He spots Cassidy walking home.

Meadow: “Isn’t that our client?”

Christiana: “Yeah it is.”

Meadow: “Do you think she’ll find out the truth?”

Christiana: “Eventually.”

As Cassidy is walking home a guy stops her from behind.

Punk: “Hey Bea just because you dyed your hair that doesn’t mean you can skip out on our deal.”

Cassidy: “Huh?! Whose Bea?!”

Punk: “Oh sorry I thought you were Bea you kinda look like her. Are you, her sister?”

Cassidy: “No I don’t have a sister.”

Punk: “It’s just that Bea owes me a date if you see her can you tell her I’m looking for her.”

He walks off.

Cassidy: “What a creep. What made him think I was this Bea girl?”

It is the next day Cassidy was heading to school when a group of girls stopped her.

Girl 1: “There you are Bea.”

Girl 2: “You think you can get away with stealing our boyfriends?”

Cassidy: “Again with this Bea girl?!”

Girl 3: “You're gonna pay for it, Bea!”

Cassidy: “I’m not Bea!”

Just as the girl was about to hit Cassidy one of the other girls stopped her.

Girl 2: “Hang on! This isn’t Bea!”

Girl 3: “What are you talking about?!”

Girl 2: “Just look at her Bea doesn’t wear glasses, and she doesn’t have black eyes.”

Girl 1: “Now you mentioned it Bea is blonde this girl is brunette.”

Girl 3: “Seriously?! She’s obviously in disguise!”

She pulls Cassidy’s hair trying to prove that she’s wearing a wig.

Cassidy: “Ouch!”

Girl 1: “That’s not a wig.”

Girl 3: “Urgh!”

Girl 2: “Hey sorry about that we really thought you were Bea.”

Girl 3: “Are you two related? Are you two sisters or cousins?”

Cassidy: “No I don’t know who this Bea is!”

Girl 2: “Knowing Bea she’s probably at Peak Blvd.”

Girl 3: “Let's go over there before school starts.”

The girls left.

Cassidy: “Peak Blvd. That’s where all the punks and thugs hang out.”

Just as she arrived at school some students walked up to her.

Student 1: “Hey Benson we need to have a class meeting!”

Cassidy: “Meeting? Why?”

Student 2: “The class money is missing.”

Cassidy: “What?!”

The students went to the classroom.

Student 1: “Hart was the last one here yesterday after school. He was supposed to make sure the money was here, but it is gone.”

Wade: “I told you I did not steal the money! I was showing someone around the school yesterday!”

Student 3: “Who then?”

Wade: “It was a girl who is homeschooled, and she was considering going to public school. So, I showed her around the school I even made sure that the money was still in the classroom before I left.”

Student 2: “Really?”

Cassidy was about to get to her desk when she discovered the empty envelope where the money was supposed to be in her desk.

Cassidy: “Huh?!”

Student 3: “Did you put it in Benson’s desk to make it look like she took it?”

Wade: “No! I would not do such a thing!”

Student 2: “I know about what you did at your middle school Hart the liar.”

Wade: “Not again…”

Cassidy: “What do you mean?”

Elsewhere at the school, Wade explained to Cassidy what he was called at his middle school.

Wade: “You see I move a lot mainly because of my dad’s job we mainly move to a new city or move to another state. So, I always have to start over at a new place and it is never easy. I was tired of it all starting over like that so when rumors started about me being this special guy, I went for it. Whenever anyone asks if the rumor about me is true, I always say yes.”

Cassidy: “Why would you want to go through with something like that?”

Wade: “You do not know what it is like to be the new student all the time! It is difficult to understand why I always went for those rumors about me being this special guy. Unfortunately, it came to an end when I moved here last year. One day I was walking home and one of the girls in my class noticed me walking she must have followed me and discovered the truth. I begged her not to tell anyone the truth, but it turns out that she was the class bitch who couldn’t stand me, so she exposed me to everyone.”

Cassidy: “Sorry about that.”

Wade: “It’s fine I’m over it besides my dad is going to transfer again lucky for me we’ll be moving soon good thing it’s the beginning of the school year so it’s not too late for me to enroll at another school.”

Later, after school once the debate meeting was over Cassidy was looking for her phone but could not find it.

Cassidy: “No! It cannot be! I know I put my mobile phone in my school bag, and it is gone!”

Debate Member: “Are you sure you did not leave your phone in the classroom?”

Cassidy: “No I know for a fact that I got my phone back from my homeroom teacher. Don’t tell me my phone got stolen.”

Debate Member: “Why would someone steal your phone?”

Cassidy: “Probably to pawn my phone off for money.”

As Cassidy was heading home, she noticed some of the neighbors were looking at her and talking about her.

Neighbor 1: “I can’t believe Cassidy would do such a thing.”

Neighbor 2: “I’m not surprised she probably snapped with all she’s doing. It must be from all the activities she put herself in it’s too much for a young girl.”

Neighbor 3: “Then again, she must be like her mother she was such a rebellious girl when she was in school.”

Cassidy: “Hm?!”

Cassidy turned her head around and the neighbors looked and walked away. She went home and went to her room but noticed her room was vandalized. Later, her dad came home and wanted to talk to her.

Cassidy’s Dad: “Cass is it true? Did you vandalize everyone’s yard and break into some of the neighbors' houses?”

Cassidy: “No! How could I possibly do that when I was at school?! You gotta believe me, Dad!”

Cassidy’s Dad: “Of course I do.”

Cassidy: “Besides why would I vandalize my own room.”

Cassidy’s Dad: “What?!”

She showed her dad what happened to her bedroom.

Cassidy: “When I came home, I found my room like this.”

Cassidy’s Dad: “Someone broke in?!”

Cassidy: “Looks that way...”

It is the next day after school Cassidy is about to leave school as she bumps into an old friend of hers.

Eddie: “Sorry about that.”

Cassidy: “No it’s fine huh Eddie?”

Eddie: “Cassidy?”

Cassidy: “Oh wow it’s been a while! I barely recognize you.”

Eddie: “Yeah I had to get in shape so I could play soccer again.”

Cassidy: “I forgot you were in an accident and had to recover.”

Eddie: “Yeah.”

Cassidy: “What are you doing here?”

Eddie: “Soccer meet we actually just finished the meet.”

Cassidy: “I see hey we can hang out like old times.”

They went to the courtyard and talked for a bit.

Eddie: “Sorry to hear about Vikki you two were like sisters.”

Cassidy: “I know...”

Eddie: “I think you were right I don’t think Vikki would have slipped off the bridge but what would make you think she was killed?”

Cassidy: “It’s just a feeling...”

Eddie: “I get it I mean as many times as we went through that bridge when we were little there’s no way she would’ve slipped.”

Cassidy: “I know but I think someone knows what really happened to Vikki.”

Eddie: “Who?”

Cassidy: “A girl named Bea I think she knows something and doesn’t want to talk about it or she’s too scared to say anything.”

Eddie: “That could be the case.”

A boy walks up the Cassidy grabbing her by her wrist.

Cassidy: “What you doing?! Let me go!”

Male Student: “Who do you think you are?! You went on a date with me last night and now you’re with another guy?!”

Cassidy: “What are you talking about?! I never went on a date with you! I was at home last night!”

Male Student: “You! You slut!”

As he is about to slap her Eddie stops him by grabbing his wrist.

Eddie: “How dare you call her that?! For one we’re just old friends and two she’s telling the truth why you would think you went on a date with Cassidy?!”

Male Student: “She emailed me to meet up with her yesterday.”

Cassidy: “I hate to break this to you, but my mobile phone was stolen yesterday I had to go get a new one with a new number.”

Eddie: “What made you believe that Cassidy emailed you?”

Male Student: “She did… I was with her last night…”

Cassidy: “Wait a minute are you sure?”

Male Student: “I’m positive!”

She realizes that it could have been Bea he was with.

Cassidy: “Did the girl you were with claimed to be me? Did she look different from me?”

Male Student: “Now that you mention it, she did look a little different she said that she dyed her hair.”

Later on, after school, Cassidy went looking for Bea hoping to get some answers. Nearby Christiana and Meadow are watching their client.

Meadow: “Do you think she’ll figure it out?”

Christiana: “Hopefully before it’s too late. She’s already being mistaken for her.”

Cassidy went to Peak Blvd where Bea is known to hang out at. Though she had never been in the area before she somehow knew where to go. She went to one of the places Bea went to, and went to talk to one of the workers.

Cassidy: “Excuse me but have you seen Bea?”

Worker: “Bea? No, she hasn’t come here today why you ask?”

Cassidy: “I’m looking for her.”

Worker: “Listen kid you don’t want to get involved with Bea she’s nothing but bad news. A nice kid like you shouldn’t be around her. You better head home you don’t belong in a place like this.”

She left the building and wondered where she could find Bea.

Cassidy: “I’ve been told goes here but I don’t see her anywhere. I’m surprised the worker didn't mistake me for Bea just like everyone else. I wonder if Bea is as bad as everyone says she is.”

A delinquent boy notices Cassidy but believes that she’s Bea.

Delinquent: “Hello there Bea.”

He tries to grope Cassidy, but she slaps his hand off her.

Cassidy: “You creep! How dare you touch me like that?!”

Delinquent: “You bitch! You're gonna pay for that! Huh?!”

He realized it wasn’t Bea, but it was Cassidy.

Cassidy: “If you don’t go away, I’m gonna scream and someone’s gonna call the police on you!”

Delinquent: “Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Sorry! I really thought you were Bea I mean she’s the only girl I know with legs like that. I had no idea she got a hot twin sister.”

She blushes.

Cassidy: “What?! She’s not my sister!”

Delinquent: “You sure? She could be your long-lost twin you never knew about.”

Cassidy: “I’m positive I’m an only child.”

Delinquent: “Maybe she’s your cousin? After all some people have cousin look similar to them.”

Cassidy: “She’s not my cousin. Bea is not related to me!”

She walks off and Bea is nearby sees everything and is mad.

Bea: “Why won’t she leave me alone?! Bad enough that everyone thinks she's me! I’ll make sure everyone knows who I am.”

It is the next day Cassidy heads to school, and she notices her classmates are outside the classroom. They are all shocked by the fact that the classroom has been vandalized.

Cassidy: “Hey what’s going on?”

Classmate 1: “First the class money went missing and now our classroom is trashed.”

Cassidy: What?!”

She sees what has happened to the classroom. The classroom has been trashed and the windows have been broken.

Classmate 2: “Why does this happen to our class?”

Cassidy: “Who could do such a thing?!”

Cassidy's classmates look down not wanting to answer her.

Classmate 1: “Well….”

Classmate 2: “We’ve heard that it was you and another girl who vandalized the classroom.”

Cassidy: “What?! I was at home all night! How could I be at two places at once?!”

Classmate 3: “I’m not sure what to believe now…”

Classmate 1: “First this class money now the classroom is trashed.”

The teacher walks and she explain the situation to her students.

Homeroom Teacher: “Okay students there is nothing to worry about. This incident has been handled I know some of you may believe that Miss Benson had something to do with the vandalism. I know some of you like to spread rumors but just so you know that rumors and misunderstandings can cause trouble for others just remember that. Okay now let’s begin class shall we.”

Later on, after school, Cassidy is about to head home when a girl from another school looking guilty walks up to her.

Girl Student: “I’m so sorry!”

Cassidy: “Sorry?”

Girl Student: “I’m sorry you were involved in what Bea and I did.”

Cassidy: “You’re friends with Bea?”

Girl Student: “You can say we’re like sisters.”

Cassidy: “How could you be friends with someone who causes nothing but trouble?”

Girl Student: “You don’t know Bea like I do we always hang out and do whatever we want to do.”

Cassidy: “That doesn’t sound like a good friend.”

Girl Student: “Yeah... I know and now I caused problems for my parents they have to pay for the damages to your classroom. I hope you can forgive me I didn’t think anyone would believe Bea was you I mean you two are two different people.”

Cassidy: “Do you know where she is now?”

Girl Student: “Most likely at Wally’s Cafe that's where we meet up after school.”

Cassidy went to the cafe at Peak Blvd and asked around for Bea.

Waiter: “Sorry Bea hasn’t shown up today. Normally she is here right about now.”

Cassidy: “Does she work here by any chance?”

Waiter: “Yeah up until last week she quit but she still comes here to hang out with her friends.”

Cassidy: “I see.”

Waiter: “Listen a girl like you shouldn’t be here. Girls like you gotta be careful around here.”

Cassidy left the cafe, and something kept nagging her about the area.

Cassidy: “I can’t stop shaking this feeling I have never been to Peak Blvd, yet I knew where the cafe is and where would Bea be hanging out. Why does it all feel familiar?”

Cassidy kept trying to wrap her mind around this until she spotted a girl who looked like her. She realizes that the girl is Bea.

Bea: “Huh? Damn!”

Bea noticed she was spotted and ran off.

Cassidy: “Hey! Wait!”

Cassidy chased after Bea wanting to talk to her, but Bea kept running off. After some time later Cassidy loses sight of Bea and somehow finds herself at the bridge where her best friend died. Suddenly a flash of a memory came to Cassidy. Cassidy sees someone pushing Vikki off the bridge which makes her believe that there is the possibility that she killed Vikki.

Cassidy: “No... Did I... Did I kill Vikki?!”

Christiana: “No not exactly.”

Cassidy: “Huh?!”

She turned around and saw Christiana and Meadow in their masks.

Meadow: “It wasn’t you per say.”

Christiana: “It was her.”

Cassidy sees Bea right behind her.

Cassidy: “It’s you!”

Bea: “We finally meet I know you’ve been asking about me.”

Cassidy: “Why did you do all of this to me?! Stealing and trashing from my school?! Trashing my neighbor's houses and stealing from them?! Trashing my bedroom?! I don’t even know you and yet you do all of this to me! Why?! Why target me?! All I wanted from you is to know what you saw. What happened to my best friend, and it turned out you killed her...”

Bea: “I didn’t really kill her she slipped off the bridge.”

Cassidy: “You're lying! I want the truth!”

Bea: “I hated you! I couldn’t stand being little miss responsibility all the time! When I started high school, I wanted to enjoy hanging out with friends dating boys but you! You wanted to be responsible! You wanted to do what others expected you to do! It was just like middle school all over again! I! I couldn’t take it anymore!”

Cassidy: “What?!”

Meadow: “The handles of so much responsibility was too much for you so when a part of you couldn’t take it anymore that’s when Bea awakened.”

Christiana: “Every time you go to sleep at night that’s when Bea wakes up.”

Cassidy: “Wait... That must’ve explained why I woke up with headaches for three weeks. I thought it was because I slept so ruff...”

Meadow: “It was because of Bea every night you go to sleep that’s when Bea wakes.”

Christiana: “And Bea made sure that she had nothing to do with you. She wore eye color contacts and a wig she even fixed her makeup so she wouldn’t be mistaken for for you. Bea even wore clothes that you would never wear at all.”

Meadow: “At first she enjoyed what she wanted to do but that wasn’t enough.”

Christiana: “She was tired of having to wait until you went to bed. She wanted to be free all the time.”

Meadow: “When did the headaches begin?”

Cassidy: “The beginning of my summer break. Then pretty much at the end of June, they stopped completely.”

Christiana: “That is when she finally split herself away from you that part of you who resented you manifested itself into Bea. She became an actual girl living her own life believing she wasn’t you.”

Bea: “That is until that girl ruined everything. Everything that I believed was nothing but a lie.”

A flashback to three weeks ago Bea was hanging out with her friends leaving the café to go somewhere else. As she is walking with her friends Vikki spots thinking she’s Cassidy.

Vikki: “Cassidy? Is that you?”

Bea’s Friend 1: “Who is this girl?”

Bea’s Friend 2: “Yeah and why did she call you Cassidy?”

Bea: “I don’t know this is the first time I’ve seen this girl. Funny... She looks familiar it's probably nothing maybe she has one of those faces.”

Vikki: “Come on Cass this isn’t funny.”

Bea: “Who is this Cass? My name is Bea and honestly, you must have mistaken me for somebody else. Now leave me alone!”

Bea and her friends walked away later on Vikki followed Bea and waited for her to be alone so she could talk to her. Vikki spots them at the bridge heading their separate ways.

Bea’s Friend 1: “Oh hey I better get going.”

Bea’s Friend 2: “Yeah me too my parents are gonna freak if I’m out too long.”

Bea: “Okay see you guys later. Mhm? You? Why are you following me?”

Vikki: “Cassidy what’s going on with you?”

Bea: “What are you talking about? Why does Cassidy sound so familiar?”

Vikki: “Because that’s your name anyways if you’re stressed out you could’ve talked  to me about it.”

Bea: “N-No… It’s not… My name is Bea…”

She keeps shaking her head not wanting to hear what Vikki is saying.

Vikki: “If you’re not Cassidy then why are you walking on the bridge like that? None walks on the bridge like that except for me and Cassidy.”

Bea: “No… Stop it…”

Vikki grabs Bea’s arm trying to get her off the bridge.”

Vikki: “Come on let’s get you home we can talk about then.”

Bea: “No… Let me go!”

The two of them almost lost their balance on the bridge.

Vikki: “Let's hurry and get down before we slip.”

Bea: “No! Let me go!”

As Bea tries to get Vikki to let her go, she accidentally pushes Vikki off the bridge and Vikki screams as she falls in the water drowning in the process due to the fact she couldn’t swim. Bea couldn’t believe what had happened as jolts of memories came fluttering in her head. She remembers what she really is.

Bea: (In Narrative Tone) “Because of her I remembered everything! That I’m not real I’m just a manifestation of you! I thought I was born here and grew up here but all of that was nothing but a lie!”

It is back to the present.

Cassidy: “Oh my God…”

Bea: “Because of you… My life just crumbled… I had to discover that my life wasn’t even real I was just a part of you!”

Cassidy: “That doesn’t justify you trying to mess up my life!”

Bea: “I figured it would make us even. If I can’t have a good life, then neither will you.”

Cassidy: “Do you want to live like this? Don’t you think it’s best to go back to where you belong?”

Bea: “No…” She pulls out a knife. “I’m never going back! Never! If I can’t live my life, then… Neither will you! I’ll live the way I want! You’ll never get in the way anymore! So why don’t you join your friend!”

Just as Bea is about to kill Cassidy Meadow steps in and kills Bea. Bea then fades away from existence.

Cassidy: “How is that possible?! She just disappeared?!”

Christiana: “Remember Bea wasn’t real she was a part of you that split away from you.”

Meadow: “You found out who killed your friend now you must deal with the consequences.”

The two vanished and Cassidy had to come to terms with what just happened.

Cassidy: “Consequences…”

It is the next day Cassidy went to school with a new haircut.

Girl Student 1: “Why did you cut your hair? You looked good with long hair.”

Cassidy: “I figured it was time for a change.”

Girl Student 2: “Oh don’t mind her you look great.”

Girl Student 1: “Hey after track practice do you want to hang out with us girls?”

Cassidy: “Sure.”

Girl Student 2: “I’m surprised you said yes normally you always say that you’re busy.”

Cassidy: “I know but this time I want to make more time for myself.”

Girl Student 1: “Okay then see you at practice.”

Later on, after practice, Cassidy went to hang out with her track field friends.

Cassidy: (Thinking) “If I listened to you earlier Vikki then.. You wouldn’t have died because of me… I hope… I hope you can forgive me…”

Elsewhere Christiana and Violet are waiting for the others at the location point.

Violet: “So this whole time the kid put a hit out on herself?”

Christiana: “Not exactly it was a part of her that took a life of its own.”

Violet: “Damn… To think something like that could happen to someone.”

Christiana: “It’s a rare thing that happens to people. Some people have some kind of experience or overwork themselves that a part of their persona split out of them manifesting into its own form.”

Violet: “Shit…”

Christiana: “It’s a lot to take in but that’s how it is.”

The others are heading to the location point.

Violet: “Here comes everybody.”

Christiana: “It’s our cue to leave.”

Christiana uses her transport key, and the portal door appears. Everyone walks into the portal and just as Christiana walks into the portal she notices a familiar face.

Police Detective Nancy: “No way.” Christiana smirks as she walks into the portal to go home. “Hard to believe she grew up. How long has it been since I last saw you, Christiana? Looks like you’re doing well.”
