Chapter 10:
The Dream Crafter
We tumbled down into darkness, the shadows wrapping around us like a suffocating shroud. Just when I thought we’d fall forever, we landed in a strange, desolate landscape—a place where fragments of memories floated, flickering like ghostly apparitions.
Raelle gasped beside me, her face pale. “These… these are memories. Sable’s memories.” She pointed to an image suspended in the air, a younger Sable standing beside someone familiar—a woman who looked hauntingly like Raelle.
I felt a pang of recognition as I realized the truth. Sable’s corruption stemmed from a devastating loss, a broken heart twisted by the Dreamscape’s power. But the question lingered—who was she? And what had happened to drive Sable into this darkness?
Sable’s voice echoed around us, cold and hollow. “You see now, don’t you? Everything I lost, everything I was denied… I became this because I was left with nothing.”
We watched as the memories shifted, showing Sable’s descent into despair after losing her, his rage twisting into a desperate hunger for power. His pain was deep, real, and overwhelming, yet his cruelty had only grown with it.
Raelle looked at me, her eyes filled with sadness. “Maybe… maybe there’s a way to reach him, to remind him of who he was.”
Before I could respond, shadows wrapped around us, Sable’s voice filling the air. “You think you can save me? I am beyond salvation!”
With a wave of his hand, the memories shattered, and the shadows attacked. We were forced to defend ourselves, each blast of energy tearing through the illusions as Sable’s wrath intensified. But through the chaos, I felt a glimmer of hope—perhaps, even buried beneath his anger, a part of Sable could still remember.
Yet just as I tried to reach out, Sable summoned a massive wave of energy that crashed over us, hurling us into the darkness once again.
