Chapter 6: The Night passes as one falls

Night falls, Roxy had stopped chasing after the duo of Rilim and Regulus.
Rilim used the cover of night to run back and grab all her stuff.
She tried to shake off Reugulus's trail but she evantually gave up and just allowed him to follow her.
She could always use him as a decoy and leave him to dead if they were every caught after all.
Rilim had found a new base near to her previous base, but its also just hidden enough that Roxy wouldn't find it that easily.
As they started camping, Regulus broke the ice and started up a conversation.
"So little lass, Why excatly are you doing all this."
Rilim only replied with a 
"You wouldn't understand, are you gonna stop helping me if you knew i was doing this to destroy the world."
Regulus could only laugh at such a ridiculous statement.
His laughter quickly faded when he looked at Rilim's solemn expression.
Oh god, this girl is serious, 
He thought to himself. 
What a mess he had gotten himself into. 
Regulus wished he could back out from this but he was already in too deep.
He sighed as he thinks about how such a young lass is gonna accomplish the destruction of the world. 
He was scared and morbidly curious.
And so Regulus decided from that point on, he would defend this girl until tjhe game is over to see where it leads.

As it starts to strike midnight, howls can be heard outside the building they were camping.
The first night had started, which means the animals are out in the wild.
Yes, this was one of the dangers of the games and was why Roxy had stopped hunting the duo to find shelter.
In the abandoned city of rome, at night wild mutated animals empowered by Ronove prowl the streets.
Specially engineered by the Russo family for the games.
They each have the strength and fighting power of a normal grizzly bear.
While the duo initially thought they were safe from the dangers in their base, they were soon proven wrong.
Some of the wild mutants had managed to break through the barricade.
They were now in danger, as regulus started to get ready for combat Rilim had already jumped into action.
She was nimble and swift, and sliced through all the mutants through a variety of weapons.
Yes Rilim you see, had no speciality of her own, instead she relied on a variety of tools and weapons to fight.
Like an assassin, she used and ditched various tools in her fight with the mutants.
Within minutes, all the mutants had been dispatched.
Regulus was amazed, he thought she was just a reckless but helpless girl but from the way she fought, it felt like she had spend her whole life fighting.
She could even be a better fighter than him.
He then asked her why didn't she fight like this back in the morning.
She could only reply
"Regardless of how well i dance, i am still no match for those monsters.
They're some of the best fighters in the world, and unlike you they have the battle sense to back it up."
Regulus wanted to interject, but he knew she was right.
He knew if they had actually fought, he would most likely be caught off guard and lose to her.
Regulus for all his brawn, was not much of a battle hardened freak.
He was only participating in this game because his dad asked him to.
He would used to run away from training and slacked off during lessons.

As the night starts to quiet, and it seemed like the coast was clear.
Both Regulus and Rilim started to stand down, they decide to take turns to sleep and keep an eye out on the outside.
The first shift was Rilim.
As Regulus then starts to fall asleep, he noticed tears falling down Rilim's eyes.
Rilim was thinking back to that day.

That day was the day their destiny changed forever.
Rilim and her brother had disappeared mysteriously, and everyone was panicking.
They spent the entire day looking for the 2 of them.
It wasn't until nighttime that they found Rilim at the orphange entrance again.
She was carrying her brother, crying about how its all her fault.
Everyone could not forget the scene they saw that day,
Rilim with both her hands blackened up to her elbow, and the same was seen on her brother except on his legs.
Everyone was bewildered at the scene in front of them.

As we cut back to the present, the crowd was cheering loudly.
IT seems that while Rilim and regulus were busy with their own situation something amazing had taken place.
One of the 7 contestant was slain, by none other than Richard himself.
We cut back to a few hours ago, as night started to fall.
Ricardo and Rubert were at a stalemate.
After the intial trade of blows, Rubert had managed to adapt to Ricardo's style of fighting.
He was truly a war veteran with decades of experience under his belt.
As they both started to decide their next move, they heard a loud sound coming towards them.
IT was ricard on his bike, he then drifted and stopped in front of both of them.
He proclaimed he was too late, and it seemed his prey had already ran away.
All that was left behind were 2nd rate fodder who could not entice him.
Ricardo who heard that statement was so offended, he immediately switched target to Ricard.
Ricard easily deflected the shield thrown at him, and he even dodged the gyzer of water that immediately followed.
Richard then proclaimed Ricardo was truly 2nd rate and before Ricardo could even react with his next move something unbelievable happened.
Richard had made the first move, and kicked Ricardo far across the field.
As Ricardo recalls aigis to block the next attack,
Richard just jumped and put out his leg.
The leg then pierced not only through aigis, but also thru Ricardo's arm.
Before he could even react, Ricardo was suddenly lit on fire through unknown means and started to be immolated.
He could only scream Richard's name as he starts to burn to death.
At his death, Ricardo could only think to all the people he killed to get this far and wonder if this is how they felt when he killed them.

RIchard then asked Rubert if he wanted a go too, but Rubert wisely exclaimed he wasn't going to fight the champion of the games so early and retreated.
Richard then hopped back on his bike and drove into the sunset.
Elsewhere, Reinhard was being confronted by Rover who taunted Reinhard with a cryptic phrase
"Do you still remember the promise you made to your brother"
With Reinhard easily getting riled up and tried to attack Rover.
However all his attacks just bounced off Rover.

As so dawn rised on the next day of the games.
