Chapter 3:
An (In)Convenient Attachment
"I am NOT saying that!" Nitta yelled, crossing her arms in defiance at the manager, who had been explaining the rules to both of us, including the servers having to say, "Welcome home, master/mistress, please follow me." To a certain extent, I could understand why she didn't want to say it. It is embarrassing, after all, but it was part of the job, so she couldn't afford to be picky about it. On the other hand, I didn't care; I just wanted to get done and go home, so I was willing to put on any act needed. After being told countless times that she had to do it, Nitta, with a flustered expression, turned to me to practice it. "W-welcome home...master...please f-follow me..." She immediately shook her head after, covering her face in her hands, "I can't do it! Someone kills me!". It was genuinely refreshing to see this shy and embarrassed side of her; it was a breath of fresh air compared to her earlier snarky attitude. It was now my turn to practice, and since I'm a guy, we had to put more emphasis into it especially for our female customers, I guess females have a thing for hot guys being servants. I shrugged and took a deep breath before exhaling. "Here I go," I said.
I turned to Nitta and stared at her with a blank expression before leaning in, slamming my hand against the wall behind her, trapping her so I could embarrass her further. I let out a low breath, looking her dead in the eyes and dropping my voice to a lower tone than usual, "Welcome home, mistress, please follow me...". Nitta stood there frozen, her face as red as a tomato, she could barely even breath from the sheer amount of embarrassment. I turned around and walked to my seat, taking a sip of my water. My act left everyone in the room stunned, they knew I would do great today.
"W-w-welcome h-home master, p-please follow me..." Nitta said sheepishly to a customer, trying her best to muster enough courage to do the job. Her maid's outfit was a bit small on her, as she had no leggings, so her legs were bare. Her dress pushed her bosom up to give a good view, attracting more male customers. I could tell she wanted to die, and it gave me some entertainment here and there. I wasn't doing too bad myself since I was able to do the job without being embarrassed. After seating a customer and getting his order, Nitta had to do something even more embarrassing. She mustered up all the courage she had and put her hands into a heart shape before doing a small dance, "M-moe, Moe, Kyun!" She yelled, directing all the love and affection to the customer's food to make it taste better. Seeing that made me stifle a slight chuckle, which was odd; why was I doing that?
As the day progressed, Nitta continued to embarrass herself while I continued to amaze and attract our female customers. At one point, Nitta slipped on something on the floor, falling to the ground and exposing her panties to me and a few customers. After noticing what I had seen, she launched at me, trying to kick me in the head to silence me. I blocked her kick, thankfully, but with me being taller than her, the way she kicked exposed her panties yet again, causing her to just run off with a flustered face, yelling at me and calling me an idiot like it was my fault she was stupid.
After our shift had ended, I went to the break room to change. After slipping out of my shirt, I looked at the nearby mirror; a few scars were scattered around my muscular torso from fights and other reckless actions. I heard the door open, and as I turned around, I saw Nitta standing there with a wide-eyed blush. "W-w-what are you doing?!" She yelled, throwing her bag at me. After it hit me, I raised a brow in confusion, tilting my head, "Changing?" I set her bag down on the table and continued to change, walking back over to my locker to grab my shirt. She let out a frustrated sigh and walked over to her locker to grab her clothes, taking a few glances at me now and then. She thought I didn't notice, but I did; it was apparent. I put my shirt on and began to leave the room to let her change, but as I left, I noticed her watching me go. A few minutes had passed, and I realized I had forgotten my phone, so I walked back to the room, opening it to see her in her underwear, beginning to slip her shirt on. She grew an immense blush and stared daggers into my soul before starting to once again throw things at me, calling me an idiot, stupid, asshole, anything you can imagine. After I had apologized and left, I realized that I didn't grab my phone, so this time I approached the door and knocked, waiting for a response. "I forgot my phone. Can you slide it under the door?" I asked, but did not get an answer. After a moment, the door slowly opened, and she stood there in an oversized T-shirt and baggy jeans, looking at me with a flustered face again. She handed me my phone and walked past me right after. I nodded in thanks and began to follow her out, stopping when she turned her head around to look at me, "You didn't see a thing, okay?" She had an "I'll kill you if you say anything" look in her eyes, to which I simply nodded and kept walking.
As I got home, I expected to open the door to Aiko running at me to greet me and bombard me with her entire day and ask me about mine, but when I opened the door, she was unusually quiet, standing in the kitchen. I set my bag down and walked over to the kitchen, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge and taking a few sips. She stayed quiet, growing increasingly nervous, which made me curious. I began to approach her, causing her to back away nervously. As I got close enough, she finally broke, letting out a loud exhale before starting to talk. "Okay! Okay! You got me! I was casually stalking you today to see who this girl is!" She said, turning away with a pout as if it was my fault. "Is this girl a weird pervert or something?" I thought to myself that, based on her words, she had casually stalked me as if it were normal. "She's so beautiful, Aries! This could be your chance!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down. I sighed and took a sip of my water, looking at her with a raised brow, "I have only known her for a day; besides, I don't believe she's really interested in speaking to me after today" I then explained how the day went, telling her about all the slip-ups and embarrassing moments. She stood there in shock, not even knowing what to say about it. After that, we decided that I would try to apologize again the next day, or rather, she decided that I would apologize; I didn't exactly care either way.
The next day was much the same at school, uninteresting and uneventful. Nitta seemed to be avoiding me, making me believe she was still upset. I was going to be a little late to the cafe that afternoon, as I had to make a pit stop at home and do a few things first. As I arrived at the cafe, I intended to head straight to the back to change, but upon entering, I noticed a customer harassing Nitta, trying to grab her, and so on. "What's the matter, honey? Don't like older men?" The customer said with a snicker, being the sleaziest man you could imagine. She stood there nervously, not wanting to entertain him but also not wanting to get in trouble for being rude to a customer. A moment later, he reached out to grab her butt, and I knew I had to step in unfortunately. I grabbed his arm and looked down at him, staring straight into his soul with murderous intent, "Is there a problem here, sir?" I asked, squeezing his arm until it was painful. He winced and yanked his arm back before standing up and rushing out of the door. "T-thanks..." Nitta mumbled, balling her fist around her skirt, "Don't mention it" I replied, returning to my walk to the back to change.
As the day went on, I noticed Nitta taking a few glances at me every so often, and when I would look back at her, she would turn her head with a blush, confusing me. "I guess she really is mad at me" I thought to myself, deciding to continue on with my work and apologize at the end of the shift.
Once it was closing time, we both headed to the back to change, but this time I let her go first so there wouldn't be a slip-up. After she had finished, I entered the room and set my stuff down to begin changing. I looked over at her and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry for yesterday," I said, looking into her eyes for any sign of anger, but I saw none, which only confused me further. "I-if you are, then go with me to the bookstore sometime..." She said sheepishly, showing a slight hint of vulnerability. I nodded in acceptance, figuring she just wanted me to buy her a book as a gesture of apology. As she left, I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, a slight smile on her reddened face. I'm not sure why I didn't think anything of it, looking back.
