Chapter 12:

Renewal of Gods and Blood [Part 1]

Immolation Reader

This woman of the future seems like a god in this lonely desert of the earth. An utter passive god, simply gazing at the lives of many through her advanced eyes. Witnessing the countless downfalls of man every hour as she scans all things.

Casually on the bed of her hotel, Josefine has a rather complicated construction of devices around her neck with wires that connect to several other devices within the room. With her eyes almost in a REM (Rapid Eye Movement) like state, scanning every nook and cranny of Nuevo Eztli. Mining for any byte of information that will lead her to any clue for her mission. Seeing the unknown histories of important people, as well as the people that will never amount to anything. All within the unfettered universe of cyberspace.

“Oh… What’s this?” Josefine asked herself.

“An attack of terror? No… Not enough active cameras in the immediate vicinity, especially for such a populated area.” She then reasoned softly.

“Well, well… There’s one camera available… Awfully strange.” She posited, with a cunning tone.

“Hmm, some high profile individuals conducting an experiment, it would seem.” She then hypothesized.

“What are you up to?” She asked with a growing smirk.

Having Nigh-Omniscience over this grand city. Josefine can see nearly everything at any given moment. During her search, she noticed a disturbance in one area of the city, and quickly shifted her vision to investigate. Scanning the section, she realized that all of the cameras in the area weren’t operational, or just out of view, all but one. In the eyes of the one camera, to Josefine, she sees a cybernetic monster of chaos, slaughtering innocents, destroying everything that it touches. When in reality, it is just a frightened boy at what he is forced to do. Along with one brave soul to save him.

“Hey, it’s that girl…” Josefine wondered.

“Good for you, little Queen.” She then smiled, showing some joy at the courage of this one person.

Dazed and beyond confused. Izel awakes to an unfamiliar ceiling, laying on his back—unsure of if he is on a bed or the ground. Only seeing stripes and stars of blue and green, unable to properly focus on the clearly new environment. He slowly placed one hand over his eyes to refocus his vision. Once he regained his senses, he attempted to recall what had happened to him. His breathing began to change as he recollected his memories.

“A dream… A-ah, Cyber hallucination.” Izel whispered to himself, attempting to rationalize what he remembered, as chilling beads of sweat rolled down his face.

Shifting his position, groaning with every small movement of his aching body. Knowing that he needs to get answers, and now. The moment he shifted his frigid body to an upright position—he immediately stopped once his vision focused on the haunting figure at the edge of the bed in a metallic chair. For a moment, the only thing that was visible of the figure was the shadowy, yet alluring whites of their eyes, gazing at Izel. Patiently, waiting to see what he’ll do. Vision becoming more focused, they must be a real person. Hiding behind a black ski mask, with a foreboding design of an Aztec Warrior shaped in respects for the God of war and will, Huitzilopochtli. Continuing the intimidation as Izel’s eyes are back to normal. The stranger has the posture only a human can have, displaying boredom, greatly uninterested with the given task. Cladded in dated yet very effective tactical gear, armor, and equipment. Holding a single pistol, a Glock 19 at the ready for the slightest threat.

“Hey, it’s finally awake!” From the doorway, a gravelly voice announced with a dense accent, one that originates from the outer city of Nuevo Eztli in the northwest.

“Izzy! Thank goodness!” Izel’s father ran into the room moments after the voice made the announcement that he had awoken.

“Dad!!” Izel shouted with relief as father and son embraced one another.

“Izel. Now just relax, there's going to be a lot to explain.” Tlacaelel mentioned to Izel.

Izel took a deep breath, understanding that he can trust his father. “Right… But uh, what about that one.” Izel mentioned gesturing to the person that is watching over Izel.

“He’s good.” The gravelly voice from moments ago quickly answered, approaching Izel. “That’s Espectro. He don’t talk much, he’s good at what he does. Accuracy—Precision.” They explained with a mischievous grin, as they gestured an imaginary gun with their hands at Izel then to their own head.

The one making such a threatening explanation, towers at least 230 Centimeters with their thick, large cybernetic legs connected to their well fitted hips as proper support for their enhancements. Wearing black glasses in this already dimly lit room, concealing their eyes.

“Got it… Does he have to be in here?” Izel then asked slowly.

“Hey now, you should be thanking him.” The tall cyborg scolded. “If it wasn’t for Nevaeh sending out a group message to anyone nearby, Nevaeh and your sorry ass would have been easy pickings for the Caballero.” They mentioned.

“Right… Then what’s your deal? Looks like you have a high Ratio.” Izel remarked with a mild curiosity.

“I’m Tenoch, and you're right, 4/6.” Tenoch confirmed, to then lift his glasses, revealing cylinder sensory devices where his eyes should be, functionally replacing them and improving his vision tenfold. “But that’s nothing, wait till you see Cash, hers are 7/8.” He remarked, lowering his glasses once more.

“Come on! This is a mandatory meeting.” Shifting their attention, another unfamiliar voice announced from the hall. Despite the aggression it held at that moment, it was much more comforting than Tenoch’s.

“Hey, how much have you explained to him?” The next stranger asked, the same one that made the announcement in the hall. Entering the room is a long haired woman, colored with the intensity of obsidian, wearing a cropped leather jacket snugly fit on her body, and also shows off her well defined abdominals, likely real at that.

“Hey, uh nothing yet.” Tlacaelel answered.

“Perfect, I’m Carmen… I want everyone to be on the same page for this.” Carmen mentioned, as the remaining group of people entered. Moaning and groaning about the mundane, random task that they have to do this evening. Remarking with small disagreements, along with the group’s, seem to be, catchphrase of —Heard, heard—

“Elli, I didn’t know you had a kid.” Another woman of the group asked with curiosity, wearing an oversized hoodie.

“Well, did you need to know?” Tlacaelel remarked calmly.

“That’s what I was wondering, they have different last names.” Tenoch added.

“He has his mother’s last name.” Tlacaelel explained softly.

“Okay, everyone, real quick, this is my Team.” Carmen announced to get the meeting back on track. “Team this is Izel, Elli’s kid.” She mentioned, as some waved to Izel. “Izel, this is my Team, you’ve already met Espectro and Tenoch.” She gestured to the two, with a thousand yard stare.

“This is my Husband, Chimalpahin, or Chima.” Carmen smiled.

Directly behind Carmen is the bulkiest of the team. In both size and cybernetics; not as tall as Tenoch but equally as intimidating. Thankfully, his smile is much more welcoming and humble, shining faintly because he doesn't want to outshine the others. Delightfully standing behind the team, as he patiently waits for his wife to finish.

“The loud and curious one is Chalchiuhtlicue.”

Tiptoeing in a spunky fashion into the room, is the team member with the most cyber prosthetics and enhancements. As mentioned by Tenoch, it certainly seems to be true that her body has nearly 90% covered in this new era of technology. It was more than obvious that Chalchiuhtlicue has more interesting activities to do rather than give her time to a stranger, and one that she likely thinks to be weaker than her. As she swiftly lied flat on her tummy on the other beds in the room, immediately looking at her phone. However, she must respect Carmen, or she would not have come.

“Only people I like are allowed to refer to me as Chalchiuhtlicue, so you can call me Cash.” Cash remarked, with mild intimidation.

“This is Yollohtli.”

Gliding into the room is an androgynous figure, Yollohtli, calculating every step with purpose as they hold a thin computer. It was open wide as Yollohtli read whatever it was on it, demonstrating that some form of work is always on their mind. In a fashioned in a deep cobalt

face mask, and such an outfit that covered most of their mouth, only showing their surprisingly bright blue eyes.

“Last but not least, Nevaeh, and you technically met.” Carmen said. Hiding in the corner and closest to the door is Nevaeh. Lazily leering her gaze everywhere but Izel’s direction, attempting to not care about the situation.

“Alright Elli, whenever you’re ready.” Carmen mentioned sitting down, now that introductions are finished.

“Right.” Tlacaelel nodded softly.
