The sun arises on Encore, The light rays entering through the window wakes up Lisa.
She took a few seconds to remember where she is and that to realize that everything she lived yesterday wasn't a dream. Her other two roommates already departed, but Lisa noticed one of them left a handwritted note on the desk.

"Dear Lisa
When you wake up, you should head to the tallest building outside the dorm, is the common place where everyone gathers at the start of the day, you'll likely find Eden inside of it.

Cheers 

The note was signed by Ava and Zoe but the latest one was visibly scratched out.

Lisa followed what was told in the note. 
On her way to the building, she saw many people as well as armors come and go, armors were walking separated from their owners. The place was bursting with activity.

She saw the building that was described in the note, it was notably the tallest building in the block, the structure resembled of a cathedral but with a high tech and futuristic design. 

She entered through the entrance which was a huge open frame with no door, the entrance resembled of a cafeteria, lots of row of tables with people conversing on them. She spotted Eden who was sitting alone in one of the tables located exactly at the opposite of the door entrance. There was a huge TV screen hanging above him with what looked to be news being broadcasted. She approached him, but while she was coming closer to him, suddenly someone passed right next to her at a much higher speed, Lisa stood still for a moment to detail who was this person. To her surprise, it was the guy that confronted her yesterday at the colisseum. He was visibly angry. 
He slams his hands on the table that Eden was in and started to talk to him. Lisa could overhear his words 

"So long I waited for that day, only for you to come in and ruined it with your pathetic show."

If you waited long enough just to hit a defenseless person, then sorry for ruining your plans ( Eden said this with a sarcastic tone, this only irritated further the guy)

I had enough of being screwed over!

Relax, sorry for ruining your day, but we both know that was not the way to go.

He lowered his voice, downed his head and closed his eyes.

What I am supposed to do now?

Well, I suppose I have to make it up for you, so, why not work for me?. That is what you want right? to have a precept. 

The guy opened his eyes, raised his gaze and gave a death stare to Eden

From all of the people I could get work with, you are the last one I would pick.

Take it or leave it.

The guy left out a sight and leaved the place in frustration.

After that, Eden noticed Lisa was right there.

Oh, you are here...Take a seat if you wish.

Lisa proceed on sitting down, feeling uncomfortable by the scene she just witnessed.

Don't worry about that, is not your fault that things turned out like this.

I understand, but I still feel sorry for him.

He'll be fine, more important, did you accomodate yourself here already?

Yes, I found a place in the dorm and I have roommates so, that is nice.

Sweet. Now, I mentioned I would show you the surroundings today didn´t I?

Starting from the place we are in, we refer to this as the "Hub". Everyone comes here often as a break from work and to relax. It seems chill right now, but you'll be surprised how many turning events have entered from that front gate.

I am supposed to star working for you right?. That guy mentioned that working for you would be the last thing he would do, why is that?

Due to past events, not everyone has a good opinion on me, in fact, don't worry about it. Let's focus on what we have at hand.

Lisa had curiosity to know what these events were but she didn´t want to press the subject further.

So, how many people are working for you? and what are they usually tasked with?

A lot actually, the amount of manpower I currently have gave me the lead in being one of the main politics factions on Encore.

As for the task, my people are usually tasked with work they are specially fit with, I believe there is a unique job for everyone so even if you have a niche field work we' ll find a place for you to help us.

I wonder what I´m gonna be tasked with...

For the meantime, you are just a bystander, since you don't have an armor you are not in condition to take any job yet.

I understand, well, what do I need to do in order to get one? and do I get to pick colors ?.

You don´t do anything on your end, we have someone that handles it, every armor is unique and specialy tailored for each individual, we'll take care of that soon.

So, everyone wakes up, go do their daily jobs, go back to sleep, rinse and repeat? doesn't look that different from a regular job.

If things goes without surprises, yes.

What does that mean?

Well, certain disruptful events tends to take place from time to time.

What kind of events?

Lisa was getting slighty annoyed by the fact that every explanation led to a follow up explanation.

Is still hard to get used to this, it doesn't feel real.

I know, it takes a while to get used to, but I assure you, everyone accommodates himself and begins a new life here.

Meanwhile both Lisa and Eden were speaking. An annoucement was hear coming from the speakers around the place.

"Eden and Lisa, to my office room. "

"Oh great" said Eden with a sarcastic tone.

Who was that?

That is one of our head chief, she is in control of what goes in the city. Let's go, is not wise to make her waiting.

Both arrived at the entrace of the head chief office which was located in the second floor of the main hub. Eden was first to arrive but showed hesitation to open the door.

Ladies first. Said while taking a step back.

Lisa entered the room first, followed by Eden.

The room appeared to be resembling of an executive office, the head chief was a tall woman  with very long straight black hair, she had a very concerned expression. She addressed Lisa.

Hello sweetie, I haven't seen you around here before, and it's my job to know the names of all the souls who wander around here, would you be so kind as to introduce yourself?

Absolutely!. 
 I am Elizabeth, I'm the new one around here, thank you for receiving me.

 After a brief pause, as if she were being analyzed by her, the head chief continues

I apologize for that inappropriate welcome, name is "Serena", I am the head chief of the city we call "Nexus". Right now you must be very disoriented with all this, so I'll explain the most relevant details.
You should already know at this point, that you are on a different planet, therefore things are a bit... different, than what you used to be to. 

Serena's tone of voice was full of conviction, and it was just what Lisa needed to hear.

In this world, all the people who arrive have one and only one option, to fight. Fighting has become our way of existing, thanks to our efforts our we have managed to set foot here.
Our common goal is to reveal the foundations that are hidden in this world, which we know  little to nothing.

Why do we have to fight? I don't understand, I don't see the need to go to such extremes.

 Listen, I know this is all difficult for you to accept, but I assure you there is no other way for us to survive, do not worry darling, you are in good hands. You will learn and get used to it.

Now, my main concern is that, usually, newcomers comes in waves at certain intervals of time, and arrives in specific locations, so we can predict to a degree when and where we receive new people, but yours case is a total exception to this rule. Why is that?

 I....I don´t have memories of anything previous of my arrival so I can´t really recall anything.

That is to be expected. 

What I am supposed to do here?

Sweety, your goal here is very clear, find your own answers, once you do we'll be able to know about our world a little more.

So, if I find the reason of why I arrived here I'll be of much help to everyone, understood

Serena changed her serious expression for a faint smile.

Excellent, that is what I like to hear. Eden will look after you, he is young but knows an awful lot and his intention are adecuate.
Now, there is a distress call on the south area, take care of that and take Lisa with you, so she gets to see first hand our job, would you?

Eden nods.

That is all, dismiss.

Lisa gives a nod before leaving first, when Eden was about to leave too is held back by Serena.

 I expect great things from you Eden, take good care of her, will you?

Eden stopped for a second, then replied to her.

She could have went under the protection of anybody else, but ended up under mine, what a hassle.

Things happens for a reason, you can't change the course of events no matter what.

Eden finally leaves, Lisa was waiting for him outside the room.
