Chapter 0:

A Faded Legacy

The Symphony of Tomorrow

The air in the attic was thick with dust, every breath a struggle between the stale scent of forgotten wood and the faint aroma of old leather. Kael Bazen sat cross-legged on the floor, his fingers grazing over relics of a time long past: faded photographs, brittle maps, and an odd assortment of trinkets that once belonged to his grandfather. Among them lay a locked box, its surface scarred with age yet still possessing a quiet dignity. It bore the initials R.K.B., his grandfather’s signature.

Kael's heart thumped in rhythm with the faint hum of the AI drone buzzing in the distance outside—a constant reminder of the world he lived in. He wasn’t supposed to be here. The relics of his grandfather’s rebellion against AI control were deemed dangerous, relics of a time better forgotten. Yet, something in Kael refused to let it all disappear into obscurity, despite his family and town dismissing his grandfather's legacy as nothing more than futile defiance.

He flipped open the box’s lid, expecting to find more of the usual—a few faded coins, maybe another journal. But instead, he found a folded piece of parchment. It stood out, its texture coarse and alien in a world dominated by sleek screens and holograms. Unfolding it carefully, he saw a message scrawled in his grandfather’s jagged handwriting:

"When the harmony falters, seek the rhythm in the silence. Your answer waits where the sky hums low."

Beneath the words, a series of numbers and letters were etched in fine print:
13:12:8 - C#m7 - F

Kael frowned, the cryptic phrase and unfamiliar notation sending his mind reeling. He glanced back into the box and found nothing else—no keys, no instructions, just the note.

"Is this supposed to mean something, old man?" he muttered, feeling equal parts frustrated and intrigued.

Yet, as he spoke, the power in the attic flickered, and for a split second, the drone's hum outside seemed to sync with the very numbers in the note.

Goosebumps prickled his arms.

The answer wasn’t here—it was out there. But where? And what could be so important that his grandfather would hide it this way?

As he stuffed the note into his pocket and stood to leave, Kael couldn’t shake the feeling that opening the box had set something irreversible in motion.

Little did he know, this note was the first key to uncovering a relic that could either shatter the fragile utopia the world clung to—or redefine it entirely.
