Ancient? history

History preservation log:

-Written in 15/11/2032 (not long after the apocalipse)

Russia feeling threatened by “the west” started trying to create a new weapon, they were looking to create a biological weapon and they did, but in a different way than originally envisioned. A kind of virus was created, when infecting a person at first it behaves like a normal virus, infecting cells and multiplying itself, but at a certain point its behaviour shifts, no longer multiplying it only seeks to infect every single cell in the organism and changes their DNA drastically, their skin, hair, and nails become almost undestrucable. Most infected die as a result of the genetic change but some survive, the survivors gain the ability to control their skin, change its shape and create more on demand.

These super soldiers were good but not enough for Russia, they started experimenting and found that long exposure to the infected cadavers would start making the survivors lose cognitive function and fuse with the bodies, creating a giant monster that attacks any and everything that moves, kind of like a rhino.

China, scared of these abominations, joined forces with Russia but those things could not be controlled and quickly Russia fell to its own weapon. The rest of the world started working on a way to kill these monsters, they were also given a name, hecatoncheires.

After a big part of Asia and parts of eastern Europe were destroyed, humanity was finally able to make the weapon to kill the hecatoncheires, it was a laser cannon that could incinerate and stop the cells from multiplying. The plan was to create giant walls with multiple canons to stop the spread of death and destruction but they would need to clear the area before starting the construction of the walls, so mechs were made. The first generation of mechs was simple, basically a cube with four legs, a laser cannon on one side and a battery on the other.

After a few months the cannons could be made much more powerful and efficient so a new line of mechs was made, this time they were made for specific pilots, modeled after animals and given a name. With these new mechs humanity was able to gain a lot of ground, until they reached the Ural mountains, there a hecatoncheir that looked like a centipede and was the size of a village awoke, it destroyed everything and started moving towards Europe, for its status as a big threat it was given a name, Hecatoncheir Arthropleura. Not long after more of these gigantic hecatoncheires appeared. H.Quetzalcoatlus was a giant flying dist with pieces of tech embedded in, this one attacked china, it overwhelmed the walls by launching pieces of itself, making an explosion on impact and creating more hecatoncheires, after china it went to japan and later north america. In Europe H.Arthropleura dug beneath the walls, appearing behind them and turning them into rubble not long after. South-East Asia and Oceania collapsed under the threat of the marine giant hecatoncheir.

Unfortunately I don’t have info on the ones that attacked Africa, India and South America, that last one may have been attacked by H.Quetzalcoatlus, but I don’t know.

After humanity saw that there was no winning this war we made bunkers to keep some semblance of humanity safe and protect all of the animal mechs and some 1st gen ones too, in the hopes humans may one day fight again.
