Chapter 4:
Final Chapter
Upon hearing what her son had just said, Hannah asked softly, “You finally know the truth, don’t you?” Her eyes were filled with sadness.
“I do,” Shu replied. “And I understand why you kept it from me. I’m grateful I got to live a normal life for as long as I could. But now… it’s time to face my destiny. I have to retrieve the staff.”
“But how?” Hannah asked, alarmed. “The mountains are heavily guarded. If you're caught, the punishment will be severe.” Her heart raced—she had known this day would come, just not so soon. Aside from basic training in self-defense and kantar reinforcement, Shu had no real battle experience. He wasn’t ready to face elite guards.
“I don’t know why, but I’m confident I can get past them,” Shu said, smirking. “You may have only taught me the basics, but after being exposed to that being’s kantar, I learned so much—instantly.”
Without another word, he reinforced his legs with kantar and dashed off. His speed broke the sound barrier, zipping past guards who only felt a sudden gust of wind. In less than ten minutes, Shu stood face-to-face with the legendary staff.
It glowed bright red, adorned with streaks of gold. Shu approached and grasped the staff, pulling it from the earth. As he did, a brilliant red light exploded into the sky, visible to everyone in the village.
Power surged through his body like a tidal wave. He raised the staff, smiling. He could feel its abilities as if they were an extension of himself. But before he could take in the moment, he sensed several powerful kantar signatures racing toward the mountain.
Without hesitation, Shu took off again—disappearing as quickly as he came.

Back at the orphanage, a demon—revived and fully charged—was preparing to launch an attack on the helpless people inside. Suddenly, a fierce wind blew, and Shu appeared before it, radiating crimson kantar and glowing eyes filled with fierce determination.
“So… you’re the lower-class demon I’m supposed to face?” Shu asked, pointing his staff at the beast.
The demon let out a deep chuckle. “I wouldn’t say *lower-class*… but I’m certainly no demon king.”
It stepped forward, revealing its form: humanoid in stature, but with the head of a wolf and a body like a leopard’s. Heavy armor plated its frame.
They stared each other down for a tense moment—then both shot forward with blinding speed, invisible to any onlooker.
Shu launched massive fireballs from his staff, testing its power, but the demon dodged them effortlessly and landed a crushing punch to Shu’s face, sending him flying through several buildings.
But Shu rose, unharmed, and shifted the staff into a katana. With a flick of his wrist, he unleashed devastating energy slashes—each swing carving apart buildings as the demon narrowly avoided them.
The battle raged on, both fighters clashing across rooftops. The villagers could only hear the echoes of metal and feel tremors as their homes crumbled around them. Shu summoned huge boulders with the staff and hurled them at the demon, who shattered each one mid-air with precise spear strikes.
Eventually, they leapt away from each other to regain distance.
Panting, Shu asked, “How are you so strong? You're way tougher than that first demon.”
The demon grinned. “Glad you noticed. We demons are classified into six classes. First, there are *lower-class* demons, like the one you fought earlier. Their power is around fifty times that of a regular human. Then come *third-class* demons—like me. We’re granted names, which boosts our power twenty-fold beyond the lower class.
“*Second-class* demons wield the power of malevolent force, making them a hundred times stronger than the third class. *First-class* demons possess the ability to transform, which multiplies their power fifty times more. And then…” The demon’s voice grew reverent. “There are the *demon kings*. Chosen from among the first class, they inherit the combined power, skills, and experience of every demon king before them. Their strength is beyond comprehension.”
Shu exhaled and muttered, “I see… So I only measure up to a second-class demon.” He puffed in disappointment. “May I ask your name?”
“The name given to me by the Demon Lord is *Mosiac*,” the demon replied proudly. “And just to be clear—I said I was *third class*, not second.”
Shu just smiled. “Oh, I heard you right.”
He raised his staff high and released a surge of kantar so intense it turned the sky crimson. His energy radiated like a pillar of light. The staff reverted to its original form and began to grow, extending at a rapid speed.
In one sudden thrust, it pierced Mosiac’s skull.
The demon turned to ash.
And the last thing he saw…
…was the smiling face of Shu.
