Chapter 24:
Shadows Ascend
Reaching the spire was no easy feat. The creatures grew more aggressive as the group approached, their attacks relentless. Zeryn’s body ached from the constant strain of summoning her shadows, but she pushed forward, driven by sheer determination.
When they finally reached the base of the spire, the leader didn’t hesitate. He plunged his blade into the ground, sending a surge of energy into the structure. The spire trembled, its sickly glow intensifying.
“Get back!” he shouted.
The group retreated as the spire erupted in a blinding flash of light. The green energy dissipated, and the creatures crumbled into dust.
Zeryn shielded her eyes, her heart racing. When the light faded, the spire was gone, leaving only a scorched patch of earth in its place.
“That’s two down,” the green-eyed figure said, their tone uncharacteristically serious.
Zeryn looked at the leader. “And two to go.”
