Chapter 40:

Chapter 44: The Dark Council

Shadows Ascend

The battle against the shadow creature was fierce. Zeryn's control over the darkness within her was tested like never before. The creature was fast, its body a blur of shifting shadows. But as Zeryn focused, she could feel her shadows responding to her will, not as a force she was afraid of, but as something she could command.

She called upon the shadows, letting them spiral outward, forming tendrils of dark energy that wrapped around the creature. It roared in anger, trying to break free, but Zeryn’s focus was unyielding.

The leader swung his sword, cutting through the creature’s shadowy form. "Zeryn! We need to finish this quickly!"

Zeryn nodded, gathering the remaining energy within her. She felt the presence of the shadows around her grow stronger, more tangible, as if they were ready to obey her every command. With one final push, she released a powerful surge of darkness, sending the creature into a cloud of smoke and dust.

The creature crumbled into nothingness, leaving only a lingering feeling of dread in the air.

"We’re not done yet," Zeryn muttered, her voice steady but tense. "There’s something worse coming. And I think we’ve just scratched the surface."

The leader turned to her, his expression grim. "I’ve been hearing rumors of a Dark Council—groups that remain loyal to the Eclipse’s cause, even after its fall. They have their own plans for the world."

"Then we’ll find them," Zeryn said, her gaze hardening. "And stop them before it’s too late."
