Chapter 50:

Chapter 54: The Final Stand

Shadows Ascend

The battle intensified, the clash of light and shadow filling the air with a deafening roar. Zeryn moved with purpose, her power now a perfect balance of both sides. She was no longer just a vessel for the darkness—she was its master.

The green-eyed figure fought beside her, their movements fluid, almost instinctive. They had been with her through this entire journey, and now, in this final moment, they shared in her strength.

"You’ve come a long way," the green-eyed figure said, panting slightly. "But it’s not over yet."

Zeryn nodded, her gaze fixed on the leader. He was the last obstacle standing in her way. With every ounce of her power, she hurled a concentrated burst of shadow and light at him, sending him flying backward.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then, the leader rose to his feet, blood dripping from his mouth. His eyes burned with fury, but also something else—fear. "You may have won this battle, Zeryn," he hissed, "but you can never defeat the darkness that resides in this world. It will always find a way to return."

Zeryn took a step forward, her eyes cold. "Maybe. But it doesn’t have to rule us."

With a final, decisive motion, she unleashed her power one last time, engulfing the leader in a blinding light. His scream echoed through the air before fading into nothingness.
