Chapter 20:
Limitless Vlogging: A journey around the utopian supercontinent
Delina furiously began duct taping me to a chair in between Selena and Irina. "And you two aren't going to stop her!? She's literally holding me hostage!"
"But it's primo content, just like you want," Irina smirked.
"Irina, I'm a vlogger, not a content farmer. Though I will confess, I did make the occasional clickbaity titles and title cards, but that's just business, dammit!"
"Sure, sure. Hey Delina, you missed her mouth!"
"Huh!? Why would I tape her mouth!? She can't drop her jaw in awe if it's taped shut!" Delina snarled as she hopped on stage and summoned a violin-like instrument.
"Come on, you tied her up, gag her as well!"
"Irina!"
Though if I could go back in time, I'd slap some tape over my mouth. Thanks to it, I was now stuck and forced to watch Delina perfect Paganini.
"Still surprised you've never even heard of Paganini. That's like, violin 101."
Seemed like that snide was the final straw for my mouth as Delina angrily hopped down and slapped some tape over it before returning to the stage.
"Now ya got a perfect title card for the vlog," Irina snickered as she formed a picture frame around me with her fingers.
I shot her a glare and muffled grunt before turning my head back to the stage. Now Suzie was up top too with her skin colored red like a devil. She even had a pitch fork along with horns and a forked tail.
"Mmph ngh mmph [And this is]?"
"Ugh, you're lucky that tape's electronic and can translate your words to me. This here is the devil I just sold my soul to in order to... ease my soul... Ugh, you're gagged so shut up and watch!" Delina glared as she threw off her cap.
Her long green hair began to spread out as neon lines appeared on her body, but unlike before, they were colored the same as her hair and much thinner. Irina and Selena also began staring intently as if to say, Delina meant business.
...
The original point of my creation was to be the perfect musician. Being the key to human evolution and serving as the precursor to the humdroidian race, secondary. Of course I've heard of Paganini, dammit! But I buried it in my mind. Why? Because I've never come close to mastering it! The great thing about humdroidians is that if we play a piece perfectly, it's saved so we can always play it again perfectly for the rest of our days. But Paganini? That bastard truly was the devil's puppet!
And of course, Suzie just had to get in on it to get a new hit single in! Her confidence comes through at the most inconvenient times!
...
Delina really pushed herself with the piano. But I'm glad she no longer has to worry about perfecting that piece. But if that was her top issue to complain about, Paganini was a close second.
It baffles me how her protocol even allows for such insanity, but then again, not only was she one of the first humdroidians, but I, the latest iteration, am incredibly shy off stage. I want to help Delina overcome her problems as she's always trying to help me in her own way. That's why I'll be up here rapping as she provides the beat, just like always.
...
Delina bent backwards, her head nearly touching the ground as if she truly was possessed, as Suzie raised her pitchfork. Then, it began. Delina played like a puppet possessed, and certainly sold the look further with her rolled back eyes and saliva drooling out her mouth. If I didn't know any better, I'd assume she was a reanimated corpse or truly a vessel for the devil himself.
Speaking of devils, the little one on stage was certainly dropping some fire. I'm glad that despite my immobilized state, I could at least hold my phone and record. This was a spectacle that needed to be preserved in film.
As the song reached it's mid-way point, Delina's hair began flowing madly and playing the violin along with her hands as she walked around and dramatically leaned back towards the ground. Humdroidians have some serious flexibility a balance.
The song soon reached it's end, and as Delina and Suzie struck their final poses, Selina and Irina freed my arms so I could join them in applauding. This made me realize that when it came to music, the crowds always seemed to behave like the ones back in my era, but when it came to sports like at the martial arts dome, awkward silence and no cheering.
My question on that matter could wait as I needed to do something, or rather say something, more important.
"You made my jaw drop with that possessed perfection of a performance."
A smile appeared on Delina's face as she slowly fell to the floor on her back. "Damn well better."
Suzie also fell to the floor, making me concerned, but Selena reassured me both were fine, stating it was normal for humdroidians to collapse after logging a perfect performance.
"Does this happen every time?"
"Nope, only when we log a perfect performance for the first time. After that, it's all instinctual," Suzie grinned.
"You're talking normally?"
"Of course! Why would a humdroidian stutter when the topic of discussion is music?"
"Then just talk about music, and you won't be shy," Delina panted.
Suzie stared at her before smiling and nodding her head.
I then approached the two to ask them two questions. The first was in regards to the crowd, which was completely explained away as them being part of the beat. I guess it made sense as now that I think back, everyone at the oasis was in perfect sync and rhythm.
With that out of the way, I moved on to my second question. "Can I post the video of your performance?"
The two looked at each other for a moment before Delina grumbled and said it was fine. "You helped us out... So you get first upload, just this once... Credit us and link to our channel though..."
"Done, and done," I said with a smile.
