Chapter 13:
mission outcome: unclear_
“Well, this is awkward,” Fuyuki said the first thing that came to his mind. He felt his face burn from embarrassment, making him even forget to be scared after being found out.
“I’m glad you realized,” Feng Liwei said just as awkwardly but with a stone-cold face devoid of expression.
Perhaps, he is just waiting for a lame excuse just so he can refute me, Fuyuki thought as he was trying to think of a way to explain how he got into this office and what he is doing in there.
Either way, I’m screwed. But first things first, I need to get out of this embarrassing position.
So, Fuyuki slowly raised his knee in an attempt to stand up and climb out of his hiding place. And just as he thought, the other person immediately realized his intention and moved back a little so that he had more space to move. But just as he was about to step aside after finally standing up, someone’s approaching steps were heard through the door making Fuyuki freeze immediately.
Both of them turned their heads in the direction of the sound. They were shocked, albeit for different reasons. Feng Liwei was somewhat safe considering his status but Fuyuki was doomed. If anyone were to see him standing in this office, which he doesn’t even have the authority to enter, he could kiss goodbye not only to his career but his reputation as well.
As the inevitable came, Fuyuki accepted his fate and didn’t even move. What for? The only place he could hide in turned out to be a not-so-good hiding place after all. His eyes were locked on the door watching and expecting the doorknob to turn any minute and he felt his heartbeat getting faster. He was so absorbed in his own racing thoughts that he didn’t even know when Feng Liwei’s look turned from the door to his face and just as the clicking sound was heard as a wristband was scanned outside the door, Fuyuki felt a strong pull on his arm making him lose his balance and fall right into the Major’s arms immediately.
At first, he thought his eyes were betraying him but he couldn’t ignore the feeling as his knees hit the cushion of the armchair on the sides of the man he was sitting on, nor those soft lips that were suddenly prying open his own. He instinctively tried to protest but Feng Liwei made it all futile. Fuyuki’s attempts were nothing against those strong arms locked around his waist and back which just happened to yank his tucked-in shirt out and slide his hand under it when the door opened.
It all happened in mere seconds as Feng Liwei viciously slid his hand under Fuyuki’s shirt and slid it up along his spine making him arch his back in shock just as the person outside opened the door and looked inside the room. But it certainly didn’t feel like seconds to either party involved. Fuyuki was shocked but was still aware that Feng Liwei graciously turned his head while kissing so that the onlooker wouldn’t have a clear view of Fuyuki’s face at least and even placed one of his arms closer in an attempt to cover it as much as he can.
“Major Feng, your father would like to make a speech and your presence is requested,” said a monotone voice as if that person didn’t see anything out of the ordinary and just turned around and left the room just as quickly as he came.
Fuyuki was too nervous and too absorbed in the kissing to notice when that person actually left. The only thing he knew was that the more urgent the kiss became, the more he locked his arms around Feng Liwei’s neck and was just about to brush through his hair with his fingers when the metallic clicking sound of the door closing was heard, after which he pushed the man away and jumped off him as if he was burned.
He didn’t know how he looked at this moment but he was pretty sure that probably ridiculous. He took a few steps backward and just stood there staring wide-eyed, trying to catch his breath.
Seeing his shocked embarrassment, it was Feng Liwei who tried to ease the situation.
“Ahem... Don’t get too worked up. We just did what we had to in order to not get caught,” he said finally.
Fuyuki didn’t know what he anticipated but it definitely wasn’t this.
Why is he so casual about this? Is this like an everyday move for him to get out of tricky situations? And even if it is, I’m the real intruder here. Doesn’t he at least want to know why I’m here and reprimand me afterward? Not that I want to be reprimanded and punished but his ignorance feels way too out of the ordinary to not make me uneasy.
“I know,” Fuyuki replied and as he saw Feng Liwei licking his lips he decided to say a few words more just to play it safe. “But I’m gay and you’re my type, so don’t provoke me.”
For a second, the Major seemed surprised, perhaps, at his honesty but still decided to play along. So, he slowly stood up, put his hands in his pockets, and walked toward him. His whole demeanour was nonchalant as if they were just having a discussion over tea and he was even smiling.
“Why? What will you do if I don’t listen?” he asked mischievously and as Fuyuki didn’t say anything, he continued. “You seem to forget something.”
“W-what?” Fuyuki was bewildered and embarrassed since the other person was already standing before him. If he were to make even a step forward, he would step on his foot.
“I initiated the kiss,” Feng Liwei said in a low, hoarse voice as he lowered his head to say it directly into Fuyuki’s ear.
Fuyuki’s eyes widened as realization dawned on him but he didn’t even have the time to digest what this information might imply when the person standing before him leaned closer and kissed him just as passionately as before.
“Shouldn’t you get going?” Fuyuki asked out of breath when they finally parted.
“Why are you so anxious for me to leave? Do you think I will leave you here alone so that you can get whatever you came in here for?” Feng Liwei asked tauntingly while staring at his face even when he avoided eye contact.
“No. But that person might come back.”
“So what?” he chuckled. “After what he saw he wouldn’t be surprised even if he saw us naked.”
“If you don’t go, then I will,” Fuyuki said adamantly and tried to bypass Feng Liwei to get to the door.
“Alright but don’t forget that you still owe me an explanation for today.”
“You know where to find me,” Fuyuki replied stating the obvious, and left the Major alone to wonder in silence why he came here in the first place. Well, not to get kissed that’s for sure.
Not that he minds it.
