Chapter 2:
Written in the Stars
-Hi Emma, nice to meet you. My name is Nyco-, you said with the biggest smile. -Here, this is for you-. You gave me a friendly handshake and when I looked at my palm I saw one of the seashells you showed me before.
-This is for me?-, I asked. You nodded happily knowing I liked the little present. -I’m sorry, I don’t have anything to give you, next time I’ll bring you something-, I promised.
-It 's ok. In exchange for this gift you can tell me why you were here all alone and cryi… and enjoying the view-, you suggested. Your devious plan made me smile. You tricked me into feeling like I owed you something. I remember thinking you were so smart for someone your age.

-He is such an idiot-, complained Emma to her friends. -He is always getting himself into trouble. Sometimes I wish I could tie him up in a basement or something-.
-Yeah… Tell me about it. Seems like something a lot of boys could use-, said her friend with glasses,Yve.
-Specially cute boys-, said Gyanna to see if that sparked a reaction out of her friend. Emma ignored the comment.
Emma and her friends were helping everyone put the desks back to where they were before the tornado known as Nyco walked in. She apologized to her classmates and restored peace in the room. Everyone started gossiping. No one understood how she could be friends with Nyco. Apart from being a troublemaker, he wasn’t very good with his grades, unlike the first of the class Emma. It’s not like he was failing all his classes, but he was average at best. They all thought someone like him would only drag her down in life.
-What do you think happened this time?-, Yve asked.
-Who knows. But I’m sure Lasson started it-, stated Emma. As soon as she said his name, the school bully entered the class.
-Hey, Emma. I think he is here to see you-, warned Gyanna. The class rep looked up and saw the bully walking up to her.
Emma wasn’t used to confrontation, and seeing an angry 1’90 meters high boy with a muscular body frightened her. Emma was 1’62 and slim, so if a fight started, there was nothing she could do. Thankfully, her friends came between them and stopped the boy before he could touch her. “Don’t worry Emma. We got you”, her friend Yve whispered.
-That idiot got away because of you!-, he complained. -I better not see you helping him next time-, Lasson threatened.
-It’s not her fault you were too slow to catch him-, Yve argued.
-This is none of your business-, he said.
-You are messing with our friend. Of course it’s our business-, Gyanna refuted. The bully, not used to people talking so bluntly to him, had to control every fiber in his body not to smack her.
-You are lucky you are a girl. Otherwise I would…-, the rest of the class got closer as to persuade the angered 17 year old from doing anything stupid.
-You would what? Smack me? Is that all you can do? Are you a Gorilla?-, joked Yve while imitating one. The class started laughing, making Lasson uncomfortable. Emma could see how the veins in his neck were pulsating. He would lose all control and punch someone shortly. He was a dangerous person. Luckily, someone shouted that a teacher was coming. Lasson separated the girls that were standing before Emma and pushed his big finger into her chest.
-If you ever help him again, there will be consequences-, he threatened. Lasson then walked away before the teacher could see him confronting another student.
The whole class went to talk to the class rep to see if she was feeling ok. Everyone thought she didn’t deserve it since she was such a nice girl.
“This is all because she surrounds herself with that troublemaker” someone whispered. “They say they’ve been friends since they were little. I guess it’s hard to let go of someone you know from way back” said another classmate. “I think she is the only friend he has so maybe that’s why she feels she can’t ignore him, but she really should. He is always picking fights with people. It was just a matter of time she would get in trouble”.
Emma couldn't take it anymore and ran to the door. Her two best friends followed her. On the way out they bumped into the history teacher.
-Where do you think you are going, young ladies? The class is about to start-, the teacher said. Emma looked at the teacher without knowing what to say.
-It’s an emergency teacher, we need to go to the bathroom-, announced Gyanna.
-What do you mean by an emergency? Is she hurt?-, asked the worried teacher. Yve came close to the teacher's ear and whispered.
-Didn’t your mother ever warn you about ladies emergencies? You are making this uncomfortable-, she said, faking her anger.
-What? OOOooooh. Ok sorry, carry on-, he complied with embarrassment. -Wait, why are you two accompanying her? Shouldn’t she go alone…
The three friends didn’t hear the rest of what he said since they were walking as fast as they could before it could be considered running away.
-Wow, good idea. Yve-, praised Gyanna.
-He heee. I may be no bookworm, but I know my way around life-, she said, raising her head with superiority. This comment made the three laugh.
-Thanks girls. As a Class rep I would normally advise you against this behavior. But I will let it slide this time.
-Woooo! You go girl! One more week with us and you’ll be a corrupt rep-, Yve joked.
-Yeah… I’m afraid I won’t vote for you next time Emma-, laughed Gyanna.
The three friends ignored the bathroom, went to the courtyard and sat down on a bench
-I hope I don’t get you two in trouble for this-, Emma said.
-Stop being so uptight. In my opinion, it’s about time we skipped a class-, joked Yve. -I may skip the whole day if you keep feeling down. So no pressure.
-Thanks girls. But one class is ok.
-Honestly Emma, how are you feeling? Lasson is a scary guy. I… wouldn’t want him as an enemy.
-Yeah… It is a bit scary. But I’m more scared for that idiot that keeps getting in trouble-, Emma said with a frown.
-I wouldn’t want to be Nyco, no-, Gyanna assured.
-Did you hear what they were saying about him?-, asked Emma. -They talk about him without knowing him. I know he gets in trouble but he always has a reason. It’s not like he wants to…
-We know Emma. We know how he is-, said Yve.
-Yeah, he probably had a good reason to spill all that water in that gorilla-, Gyanna pointed out.
-Oooh, I see the nickname is sticking ey, Gyanna-, laughed Yve.
-You DO have your moments, my good friend.
-Please don’t tell Nyco that he threatened me. That would only make things worse. I’ll tell the whole class later too-, she requested.
-Yeah, knowing him. He probably would start world war 5 over you-. That comment really made the calm blonde girl blush. She knew it was true.
-Where do you think he jumped to, anyway?
-What options does your Warpy have, Emma?-, Yve asked.
-Mmmmm. I don’t know. He better not have jumped to my room. I will end him if he dares go in my room without me being there-, Emma said angrily.
Her friends looked at each other and raised their eyebrows. “This means he has been to her room before” signaled Gyanna to Yve with her eyebrows. “AAAAAAAHHHHH” she answered accordingly.
-I also have one jump linked to the city center, or the library…-, Emma kept thinking, not realising she had just given her friends hours of gossip with the previous reveal. -OH NO!,-screamed Emma standing up.
-What What!??-, shouted her friends.
-This… this morning. The… the last place I jumped to wasn’t my bedroom. It was another place. If he didn’t change the option, the Warpy takes you to the last saved location you’ve jumped to.
-And where is that?-, asked Gyanna.
-I really hope he changed the destination before jumping. We can’t be THAT unlucky…-, Emma thought.
Unfortunately, they were “that” unlucky.
In a room, many kilometers away from school. A big crystal container lit up in an orange light. Nyco manifested inside the cylinder the same way he jumped, which is in an horizontal fashion, making him fall and hit his head with the floor. “Ouch” he complained.
Something buzzed close to Nyco’s ear making him jump from the shock. It turned out to be a small bee. “What is this doing here?” he asked, frightened it would sting him. He crawled away from it to make sure it couldn’t hurt him. “He must have touched me as I made the jump. My bad, please Bee nice to me and don’t sting me”, he joked making himself giggle. The bee could not fly in a straight line and crashed into the floor. “Hahaha seems like the jump made you woozy,” he laughed. He soon realised he was in a similar situation since he tried getting up but fell flat on his bottom. Dizziness and unsteadiness were a normal side effect of people not used to jumping.
When he finally felt better, he got out of the portal and saw that he was in a very luxurious room. From the big desk and diplomas and awards hanging from the walls, he guessed he was in someone’s private office.
He studied the room searching for a clue that would tell him where he was. Taking into account the model of Warpy he was using, he could technically be anywhere on planet Earth Emma had a jumping connection with.
After a few seconds, he found a picture of a family on the wall, making it obvious where he was.
-NOOOO! Anywhere but here! Why do you DO this to me, Lord!-, he complained while watching the painting of the man with his wife and his lovely daughter. Nyco had jumped into the office of the guy he hated the most.
Emma’s father.
