Shattered Dreams

I was staring at my computer, trying to learn some new random skill so that I could get some random job and a dark spirit came over me. This wasn't what I was supposed to be doing. In my youth I dreamed of doing awesome things. Inventing machines capable of taking humanity to the stars. Discovering and exposing nature's most guarded secrets. How did that all turn into the current abysmal life.

The phone suddenly rang. I picked it up and I heard the most devastating news I had ever received in my entire life.
