A sweet accident

In a small hospital room on the outskirts of town, young Nyco was face to face with his worst enemy. Well… his worst enemy at school. Emma’s father was also a contestant for first prize.

The young boy was thinking of a way to escape the situation with the least amount of damage possible.

-How did you find me?-, Nyco asked to win time so he could come up with a plan.

-Oh, it was easy. There were rumours of you being hospitalized in school. So I just followed Emma here-, Lasson explained.

-Wow. That’s pretty smart for you. Well done-, Nyco provoked as he studied the situation, “Ok, if I press the emergency button next to my bed, a nurse should come running. But as soon as I do that he is going to jump at me. I don’t want him punching my face and opening the wound again. I need the element of surprise.

-That mouth of yours always spitting out provocation after provocation. What happened to it by the way? Let me see it up close-, the bully asked with a grin.

-No thanks. It may get infected just by sharing the same air than…-. Nyco didn’t finish the sentence as Lasson put his hand on his foot.

-I don’t think you know the position you are in, Nyco. I advise you to shut your mouth or things could get messy-, he said tapping his bandaged foot.

“That 's it!! That’s how I’m getting out of this predicament. It won’t be painless, but it’s the only way to stop him from getting to my mouth. I know that bastard is going to try and open up the wound again”, Nyco planned.

-I see we started off on the wrong foot. Let 's start over. Hello Lasson. Thank you for visiting me today but I’m a bit tired, could you come by tomorrow?-, the blue eyed boy asked.

-There’s no way I’m seeing your ugly face for two consecutive da...OUCH-, Lasson wasn’t able to finish his sentence since Nyco’s bandaged foot had the discourtesy of stomping his face.

Lasson fell to the ground as the pain from the kick made Nyco flinch. Nyco thought of pressing the red button to call a nurse, but discarded the idea as he saw Lasson getting up, he didn’t have time to look away to press the emergency button. He used his left leg to jump and landed with his left knee on his stomach. The bully led out a cry and tried ripping Nyco's mouth bandage. Thankfully he was able to keep his hands away and land him another punch. He didn’t wait to see if his punch landed correctly. The poor boy got up and hopped with one leg to the bathroom and closed the door.

As soon as he closed it, he felt the attacker trying to open it. The bathroom door didn’t have a lock just in case nurses had to rush in to help the patients if they fell, Nyco hated how considerate they were with his safety.
Nyco put his back to the door and pushed himself with his only good foot. He would end up losing the battle since he could only use one of his legs, it was just a matter of time. His brain started thinking of a way to escape when it occurred to him that Emma had just given him a jumping orb.

He hated the fact that he was going to use it the same day she gave it to him, but it was his only choice. He touched his Warpy and saw “Emma’s bedroom” as his only jumping option. “Okay, if I press it, everything around me in a 2 meter radius that touches me and fits in the sphere, will jump with me to Emma’s room. It shouldn’t teleport Lasson right? He is not touching me after all, but we are both touching the door and he will be inside the sphere... And will the door come with me or does it have a teleportation negator? Everything here should have one, right? Otherwise it would be easy to steal stuff. Agh, I should have read the Warpy manual”, Nyco panicked thinking of a way out.

Lasson stopped pushing, making Nyco certain that he was gaining momentum to open the door in one big push. He moved away from the door and a few seconds later, the bully pushed the door open and fell on the ground. Nyco took that time to get into the shower and press his Warpy. Lasson ran up to him in an attempt to catch him, but the translucent orange sphere teleported Nyco before he could get inside it.
All the bully was left with was a bloody nose and the image of Nyco giving him another middle finger. But this time, with his tongue out.

Emma was sitting calmly on her bed reading a book when she heard her portal turning on. She knew it was Nyco so she let out a loud sigh and got up in order to scold him. As she predicted, Nyco appeared in a bright orange light inside her portal.

-I just gave you the orb today! Couldn’t you have waited one day?! And I told you not to come here unannounced-, Emma scolded him as she got closer.

Unfortunately, Nyco couldn’t hear her. He was feeling dizzy from the jump. He tripped as he stepped out of the portal and tried to regain his balance with his right foot. All the weight of his body concentrated on his right foot made it hurt like hell. He lost balance from the pain and fell forward.

What happened that night at 23:08 will haunt Emma all her life. When Nyco fell over Emma, he did it head first. The young girl was able to hold him so they didn’t fall to the ground, but she wasn’t able to prevent his lips from touching hers.

She felt the world fall from right under her feet as she stood there in shock. This was her first kiss, the one all girls dream about, and Nyco took it without even noticing it. The boy slowly opened his eyes as he regained his senses. He found himself kissing the girl he loved. He didn’t know how he got there, but didn’t want it to stop. Her soft lips felt nice on his.

He stepped away from the girl he loved and looked at her face. It was a face of disbelief.

-So… sorry-, is all he could say after realising he had stolen her first kiss.

-... no…-, she whispered

-What?

-No. That doesn’t count! No!-, Emma yelled. She always thought that her first kiss with Nyco would be like the one that got interrupted by Yve. She refused to believe this was her first kiss.

She turned around and hid her red face with her hands. She had to look away as she was too embarrassed to look at him. This made Nyco feel bad. He knew Emma had never had a boyfriend before, so this was also her first kiss.

-Sorry Em… Sorry it was this way-, he said. The girl didn’t answer, she didn’t know what to say. -It… it was my first kiss too-, he announced, hoping it would calm the situation a little bit.

Thankfully it did. She turned around in order to see how he felt about giving her his first kiss. She knew he never had a girlfriend before but, since everyone agreed he was cute, she never dared asking him if he had ever kissed someone before. Hearing she was his first made her happy.

Nyco saw her soft and gentle face looking at him. The usually strong and loud girl he knew was now soft and tender. He loved that contrast. Seeing her reaction, Nyco knew that the problem wasn’t that they kissed, the problem was the circumstance. This made his heart race uncontrollably. What he felt the other day in the 5-S was completely real and not just an isolated feeling like he feared. He wanted her and she wanted him.
He got close to her and touched her hand.

-Em…-, he said leaning in for another kiss. He closed his eyes waiting for the wonderful feeling he had felt before.

-...no-, she said, putting a finger over his mouth and preventing him from kissing her. He opened his eyes in disbelief. -Not like this…-, she whispered.

Nyco understood what she meant. The kiss they just had didn’t count since it was an accident. She also didn’t want their real first kiss to be a result of an accident. She wanted it to be special. Now that they both knew they desired each other, she wanted it to be like in the movies. Nyco didn’t really care, he would have just kissed her all night right there. But he knew she had that romantic side, so he just hugged her in silence.

They both stood there for a while without saying anything. They just wanted to enjoy the feeling of being loved. All their doubts were finally gone. All the awkwardness of not knowing what the other felt was gone. The young couple cleared their heads and embraced each other in a hug that felt like heaven.
