Chapter 21:

The Judgment of Facilis

Usurper: The Liberation Vow

(Final Chapter of Arc 1: Perfect Society)

The new world of Facilis, hailed as humanity’s ultimate achievement, was crumbling under the weight of its long-hidden truths. The 8 Superentis—regions governed by Montlaif’s unparalleled energy and the Point Touch Zero system—had long promised their citizens freedom from war, hunger, poverty, and crime. In exchange, the people of Facilis surrendered autonomy, their lives meticulously managed by an advanced yet unseen authority.

No one questioned it. How could they? In a world where suffering had been eradicated, the price of perfection seemed negligible.

But as Wrex stood before the Wall of Lions, a growing sense of dread gripped him. The cracks in Facilis’s utopian facade were no longer subtle—they were shattering, exposing the dark truths beneath.

Wrex turned to Rizor, his voice trembling with a mix of confusion and anger. “Why now? Why are you and the True Residents attacking the system? Do you want chaos? Suffering? War?”

Rizor’s expression was cold, almost amused. “You’re still clinging to the fantasy, Wrex. You think Facilis is perfect, but that’s because they’ve kept you blind. The Montlaif doesn’t just provide energy; it controls minds. It decides what you think, what you feel, even what you dream.”

“That’s impossible,” Wrex shot back, though his words lacked conviction.

Rizor stepped closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Is it? Think about it. In all your years, have you ever truly seen someone act out of line? Commit a crime? Question authority? It’s not because people don’t want to—it’s because they can’t. Facilis doesn’t allow it.”

Wrex staggered backward, the weight of Rizor’s words hitting him like a blow. He remembered fleeting moments, strange feelings he couldn’t explain—times when he felt compelled to act a certain way, to suppress certain thoughts.

“And now,” Rizor continued, “the True Residents are here to reclaim what was stolen from us. Our freedom. Our memories. Our humanity.”

Far away, in the depths of Freol, chaos reigned. The once-orderly capital city of the First Superenti was now a battleground. The malware that had infiltrated Montlaif’s systems spread like wildfire, plunging entire districts into darkness. The streets, once pristine and lifeless, were now filled with terrified citizens and looters taking advantage of the broken order.

For the first time, the people of Freol faced hunger, desperation, and fear—emotions they had been shielded from their entire lives.

Loria, hiding in the shadows with her mysterious protector, stared at the carnage in disbelief. “This... this isn’t supposed to happen. Facilis was supposed to be perfect.”

Her protector shook her head. “Perfection is a lie, Loria. A convenient illusion to keep people obedient. This is the reality of the 8 Superentis. A fragile system built on control and deceit.”

In his hidden surveillance room, Fozic watched the chaos unfold with an unsettling calm. Screens displayed everything—the riots in Freol, the True Residents’ invasion, Wrex and Rizor at the Wall of Lions, and even Loria’s desperate attempts to make sense of the unfolding disaster.

He leaned back in his chair, fingers steepled as he studied the faces on the screens. Wrex. Loria. Rizor. Each of them had a role to play, and Fozic had ensured they would act their parts perfectly.

On one screen, a file labeled “Project Heir: Wrex” blinked ominously. Another file, titled “The Wall of Lions: Access Protocols”, was open, displaying a series of encrypted commands.

Fozic smirked as he opened a message from an unknown sender:
“The Judgment is near. Proceed with Phase Two.”

“Perfect society,” he muttered, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Let’s see how perfect it remains when the truth comes out.”

As the first of the True Residents reached the Wall of Lions, a strange tension filled the air. They bore no weapons, at least none recognizable by the standards of Facilis. Yet their movements were deliberate, and their tools emitted an unsettling hum that seemed to disrupt the air around them.

Wrex watched in shock as they began working on the wall, their devices pulsing with energy that felt... alive.

“What are they doing?” he asked Rizor.

“Taking back what’s ours,” Rizor replied cryptically.

“But they’re...” Wrex trailed off, his eyes narrowing. These people, the so-called True Residents, didn’t look like the primitive savages he had been taught to expect. Their technology, though different, was undeniably advanced—perhaps even more so than Montlaif.

“They’ve been preparing for this for generations,” Rizor said, as if reading Wrex’s thoughts. “You think Facilis is the pinnacle of human achievement? You haven’t seen what humanity is truly capable of.”

As the chapter neared its end, the focus shifted back to the Wall of Lions. The True Residents continued their mysterious work, their actions precise and methodical. Wrex couldn’t shake the feeling that they were unlocking something long forgotten, something far older than the Wall itself.

“Who are they?” Wrex finally asked.

Rizor’s eyes gleamed. “The rightful heirs to this world. And they’ve come to collect.”

In the distance, beyond the Wall, a faint light began to glow, casting eerie shadows across the barren landscape. The ground trembled, and an otherworldly hum filled the air.

“What’s happening?” Wrex whispered.

Rizor smiled, his expression unreadable. “The past is catching up to us, Wrex. And you’re about to see the truth—whether you’re ready or not.”

Back in Freol, Loria sat in stunned silence as her protector relayed the news: the True Residents had breached one of the Superentis capitals, and Montlaif’s systems were failing across the board.

“But... how?” Loria asked, her voice trembling. “No one’s ever been able to challenge Montlaif before.”

Her protector gave her a sad smile. “Because no one’s ever dared to see beyond the lies. But that’s all about to change.”

As Loria processed this, a broadcast lit up the screen. It showed the True Residents standing at the Wall of Lions, their leader raising a hand as the massive structure began to shift.

The chapter ended with Fozic watching it all unfold, his smirk widening. “And so it begins,” he said softly.

In Arc 2: The Royal Agenda, the focus shifts to the hidden truths of the Montlaif system and the royal family’s role in shaping Facilis’s utopia. As Wrex and his allies uncover buried secrets, they are drawn into a web of political intrigue and rebellion, where loyalties are tested and the line between hero and villain begins to blur.
