Chapter 29:

On Air

Music and Metal: A silent melody

Tragedy strikes the heart of Tokyo tonight, as beloved artist and icon, Music and Metal, dies after an unfortunate accident resulting from equipment failure.

Kokoro Takahashi, the voice and face behind Music and Metal, was an eighteen-year-old physically challenged high schooler who relied on specific technologies to help her sing and dance.

As invented by her school mate and partner, Taro Yamato, the speaking aid, the scarab walker, and the neural link were all initially considered contrabands by the state of Japan, given their close resemblance to the forbidden technologies of four centuries ago. But after a fierce legal battle championed by none other than star Airi herself, one of Miss Takahashi’s biggest celebrity supporters, Mr. Yamato’s inventions were on their way to being considered and fully integrated by the state for medical use.

However, we already know this story doesn’t have a happy ending.

Because Mr. Yamato was for the most part, working alone with no help, assistance, or support from the government, he was unable to fully assess and account for the drawbacks and strain his inventions posed on Miss Takahashi’s body.

Due to this lack of foresight, Miss Takahashi sadly lost her life earlier tonight, while performing in her first and last ever concert as the beloved artist, Music and Metal.

She will most certainly be missed by many.

Rest in peace, Miss Takahashi. Rest in peace, Music and Metal.

You will forever be in our hearts, and your voice will never be forgotten.
