Abyss of Evolution

Lilia and Miku fought back-to-back against the demons that surrounded them — hybrids of organic and inorganic life under the control of Izanami.

"How did you even meet this monster… Mikhail?" Miku suddenly asked.

Lilia was surprised and thoughtful, since she was only a copy of her former self and was more like an empty shell. She remembered an incident from the university, how Mikhail staunchly defended his unpopular point of view on the theory of evolution in front of the entire audience and an authoritative professor. That was when she fell in love with him. But suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, a bullet burst into her little paradise, tearing her heart apart.

"S-sorry…"

No words were needed, Miku read Lilia's thoughts and suddenly began to cry. She wiped away her tears and repelled the sudden attack of the demon.

"They planned to execute me right before his eyes to enhance the effect of the drug in his body. Like an animal that they don't want to scare before killing, so as not to spoil the meat. They were counting on this to collect the 'harvest'."

"Bastards… like Mukibutsu… I used to have the opposite opinion of them."

"Yes. But this is not the Misha I knew."

"How should we deal with the demons?"

"Sorry!" Lilia turned away abruptly and jumped into the abyss. "I have to stop him!"

Miku and the Misha clones were left alone with the constantly rising demons.

"Was it worth it to throw her like that?" Lilia thought.

A loud whistle of a projectile flew across the Abyss, and one of the demons was torn into small pieces. Miku looked in the direction of the shot.

"B-buki!? I-is that you?" Miku stuttered, not expecting to see him again and in this form.

"I have changed a little… but I think it's still me and I even like it!"

The entire arsenal he’d fallen into the Abyss with fused with him, literally turning him into a human weapon. Lilia sighed with relief and, pushing off from the floating islands, accelerated.

Sanno had already reached the core of the Abyss, around which there was a powerful repulsive electromagnetic, gravitational field. Sanno tried to continue falling with an effort of will, in order to reach it. But the further he was in the core field, the harder it was to stay there. His mind grew cloudy, and his thoughts became confused. His body continued to wildly transform on a cellular and molecular level, dissolving into the surrounding space and freezing there.

"Is this an evolutionary leap!?"

"Sanno… we didn't raise you like that…" Suddenly he heard his mother's voice.

Sanno looked to the side and saw a blurry image of his mother.

"The gods of the winds should not be like this…" His father's voice was heard from the other side.

"Don't pay attention to them, they’re just your inner doubts." Izanami's voice spoke.

"How could you do something like this!? The same explosion that killed us!" The parents screamed, bursting into tears.

"I raised myself! You were killed by Amaterasu's power!" Sanno protested furiously.

"Fight, Sanno! Channel your rage!" Ikari suddenly heard the long-forgotten voice of Susanoo.

"No! This is my way!"

Sanno declared.

"Aaaah!" He screamed in pain from the new transformations.

"Really!?" Keshita screamed from above. "Izanami is manipulating you! Wake up already!"

Mikhail and Keshita approached him, but it was too late. Sanno had transformed into a super-being with his own field, like the one at the core of the Abyss itself. Sanno's body emitted its own light and was distorted beyond recognition. Mikhail and Keshita froze a meter away, trying in vain to reach out or use their power.

"N-it's not working! What's going on, Mikhail!?" Keshita worried, floundering in the invisible field.

"I don't know! It seems to have evolved into something unimaginable with its own gravitational field. My powers are all here!"

"Ah? Right, your main body is in a different place. You don't care about the outcome!"

"Well, it won't help me if this thing gets out, so let's continue brainstorming!"

"Damn it, my thoughts are mixing with yours, I can't think!"

"What noisy flies in my web…" Suddenly, Izanami's voice sounded. "You've already fulfilled your purpose, and now—

Keshita and Mikhail's mouths grew together, and only their twisted faces could tell the depth of the pain they were feeling.

Lilia was caught by the demons who had gone after her and blocked her path. By that time, Miku and Buki had successfully immobilized the others by fusing them together, which. Miku and Buki came down to help Lilia. But, noticing Keshita's desperate situation, Miku rushed to him without thinking. Lilia didn’t have time to stop her, distracted by the demon. Buki followed Aoki. Looking into the Abyss, Lilia realized the full horror of Sanno's newfound power and the hopelessness of the situation. Only an incredible evolutionary leap could give them a chance, then Lilia realized that now they could get it.

"Sorry…" She repeated.

Biku managed to catch up with Miku and grabbed her, moving with her to an island ten of meters away from the core.

"Are you crazy? If they couldn't handle it, then you certainly can't!"

"Then what should we do!?"

"Juuryoku Ame!"

Izanami said imperiously through Sanno's lips.

"Gravity Rain!"

A heavy whistling sound was heard from above, with which the attracted Oni demons fell, transformed into large black magatama.

Along the way, they destroyed the islands, and upon landing, they attacked Lilia, Miku, and Biku. The latter were the least fortunate, as Oni returned to them, assembled from several. With a quick movement of his giant paw, he grabbed Biku and prepared to crush him. But Miku prevented him, jumping onto his core, plunging bone blades into it, and pulling him back.

Keshita suddenly felt a great threat, having seen the future for a moment, being near the core. With an effort, he tore his lips with his teeth and shouted.

"Miku, no!"

"Here it is!"

Lilia's guess was confirmed. Tamiya glowed, dissolving into the core's field, the escaping drops of blood froze next to him. Suddenly, they stretched out into long, thin threads, overcoming the gravitational pressure, and stopped the spikes fired by the demon at Miku.

"!?"

Biku also surpassed his limit and self-detonated, tearing apart the demon's paw. Scorched, he jumped on its core and began shooting from a transformed machine gun. Having broken through the defense, Buki stuck his large iron hand into it and fired a special projectile, exploding right inside the demon. But new demons formed from the pieces, immediately going into battle.

"This… will go on forever!?" Buki howled in despair.

"You finally understood." Izanami taunted, using one of the demons.

Buki noticed that Miku, fighting the demon, didn’t see the attack from behind. Toshi quickly closed the distance with explosions from his legs, shielding Miku's back with his body.

"N-o-o-o-o-o! Buki!" Miku turned around in horror.

The demon pierced him right in the heart, and then used a rupture transformation, tearing Buki's body into pieces.

"I… promised… to look after you!" Buki smiled before dying.

But the last thing he saw was how another demon pierced Miku with a blade, howling in pain.

"No-o-o-o, Miku!"

Keshita desperately screamed, trying to break the Sanno field and cores to escape.

"This… can't… be!"

Keshita passed the limit of superhuman, reaching the level of evolution of Sanno, breaking his fields. Together, they looked more like clots of energy than people, androids or cyborgs, or even monsters.

"My chance!"

A thought flashed through Mikhail's head.

Taking advantage of the moment of mutual annihilation of Sanno and Keshita's fields, Mikhail reached for the core, trying to grab it.

"I will not lose to you!" He screamed, tearing his lips, which suddenly froze.

"You lost to the evovirus a long time ago… Misha."

Lily jumped down at the last moment, piercing all three at once. And stole the core right from under Mikhail's nose.

"But I’ll fix everything."

"W-what are you talking about, L-lily!?" Mikhail looked back, also starting to glow and dissolve.

"You can stop pretending, I see everything." "But h-how? Shh…"

A look of complete confusion and disappointment was imprinted on Mikhail's face before he disappeared.

Lilia was the first to reach the core, taking advantage of Sanno and Keshita's confrontation. They also dissolved, and the girl absorbed them all, uniting them into her new perfect body. Lilia raised her head up.

"It's time to end all of this."

Lilia in her new form soared upward at high speed, absorbing more and more energy from the Abyss and anomalies encountered along the way. And also absorbing other people or their remains to enlarge her own body

The ceiling of the Sarcophagus appeared above, barely letting light in and out of the Abyss.
