Silvy's update

-Oh my God, Silvy. Are you ok?-, Emma asked worried. The Star-finder looked at her missing arm.

-Yeah, it’s ok. They say they’ll give me a prosthetic arm next week. This is why I couldn’t come sooner. I know we originally planned to meet two days ago but the doctors wouldn’t let me leave until this morning-, Silvy explained.

-Was, was Nyco on that mission with you… ?-, Emma asked, scared of the answer.

-Yes. Nyco, Levi and I were the 3 Star-finders selected for this mission-. Silvy informed. She then saw absolute fear in Emma’s eyes and hurried to clarify the outcome of the mission so she wouldn’t worry. -Nyco is fine. Don’t worry. Well… he also got attacked by the Green Glutton in the back but he is being treated as we speak-, Silvy informed. Emma didn’t know what she meant by Green Glutton but she didn’t care. All she wanted to know was Nyco’s wellbeing.

-What happened to his back?

-An acid penetrated his Star-Fly suit and dissolved part of his skin. It must have hurt quite a lot but he’ll recover.

Emma hated with all her heart that he was a Planet-Gazer. Since he wouldn’t talk to him, Emma had to rely on Silvy to inform her that he was ok. Emma and Silvy reunited every month for the past 2 years.

-I’m glad that he’ll recover-, Emma said with pain. She wanted to be there for him… -Has he… Does he still have… ?

-He still cares for others more than he should. As a Star-finder he really is a disappointment. But… I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him-, Silvy confessed. -He saved me from that plant’s grab even though all the odds were against him. He’ll always have my thanks. No other Star-finder would have tried saving me. He is still the defective person you care about, he hasn’t changed in all these years.

Emma felt utter bliss hearing that. He was still her Nyco. AI-Juliet had explained that Star-finders were deprived of their need for human connections. They couldn’t feel love for others, the closest thing they could feel was loyalty. Emma knew that Nyco feared he would become a cold individual but 3 years had passed and he was still the same. Emma was sure he was the exception of the Star-finders, he would never lose his ability to love.

-Thank you for telling me about Nyco, Silvy. It really means a lot.

-There is no need to thank me. I do it for Juliet. She always talked about you two. I know she would have wanted me to take care of you and Nyco as much as I can. I intend to honor her like I do with all of my mothers and fathers-, Silvy explained. Emma looked closely and saw how similar she was to her own mother. She had the same heart shaped lips and nose.

-Regardless of why you do it. I appreciate it. Do you think he’ll recover soon? Is he in good hands?

-Yes, he’ll probably be completely healed in a few days. An expert on Star-finders is taking care of him so there’s no need to worry-, Silvy explained

The Star-finder thought about telling her that Nyco was on Earth.
“If I tell her, she will definitely want to go see him. But Nyco doesn’t want to see her, otherwise he would have told her already. There’s no good option here, I can’t help both of them so I’ll just keep that information”, she debated in her mind.

-Ok then. It’s time for me to headback-, Silvy declared.

-Thank you, really. Will I see you next month?-, Emma asked her.

-If I survive long enough, yes-, Silvy answered.

When the Star-finder left through the portal in Emma's room, AI-Juliet appeared. It had watched all the conversation. Emma always told it to watch and analyze their conversations.

-She was hiding something-, AI-Juliet said.

-Was she? I’m normally good at reading people but she… She is hard to read.

-I don’t know what it was. She didn’t lie to you but… she kept something from you.

-Must be something classified about their mission. I still think you should talk to her. She must feel more comfortable talking with you. She respected mom so much. I think that if you tell her she will help us meet Nyco-, Emma said.

-No… She wouldn’t. She would just see me like the copy I am. It will probably offend her seeing me talk like one of her mothers. Plus, I don’t really remember her that much, I hardly have any memories of her since everything regarding Planet-Gazer’s is classified. They didn’t make me with enough information on how Juliet and her interacted. All I have is a few conversations with your father where Juliet mentions her on the E-C and a picture.

-Well… At least we know he is ok-, Emma cheered.

-Yes… Thank God. Ok, I’m going back to your dad. Talk to you later, Em-, the AI said, downloading herself on another drone many kilometers away.

Emma and the AI had gotten closer in the past few years. It took Emma a while to accept AI-Juliet, but the AI really helped her in handling the fact that Nyco was now a Planet-Gazer. Even if the AI’s feelings were programmed, they both found in each other a shoulder to cry on. She did not consider it family but she appreciated its company. She still missed her mother and visited her grave every month. In Emma’s mind, unlike how her dad sometimes made it seem, they were two totally separate beings.

Emma looked at her E-C, she still had an hour before she needed to go back to the office. She got out of her dress and wore something more cosy. She then set the alarm so that it would ring 5 minutes before she needed to go back. Emma then remembered that she had left her necklace in the pocket of her dress. She took it out of the pocket and wore it. She really felt more comfortable with it on.

The blonde 22 year old threw herself on the sofa and told her music box to put some relaxing music on. She closed her eyes and played with her necklace with her fingers as she thought about the boy she loved.

“When will I see you again… ? It’s not fair… I know you did it because you thought you were protecting me. But it’s not fair. I want to know how you are doing, what you are thinking… I don’t want to keep needing Silvy to know how you are. Come back to me, Nyco. Please.”, thought Emma as she immersed herself in her memories of him.
