Chapter 34:

O:Nslaught

Co:Ded

Chaos ensued in the parking area. Officers from District 1 fought desperately to protect their vehicles from being destroyed by District 3 forces.

Bontly stood his ground against Officer Kabuta, a towering brute whose metallic body resembled ancient shogun armor. Kabuta swung his massive arms like hammers, each strike creating shockwaves that rattled the garage.

Bontly blocked each attack with his arms. “Wow! He’s strong!” he muttered.

Elsewhere, Tackle sprinted down the narrow tunnel. Suddenly, an officer blitzed toward her, throwing a punch aimed directly at her face. Reacting instinctively, Tackle raised her forearm, blocking the blow just in time.

She jumped back, eyes locking onto her opponent. The officer was a woman of average height with a limber frame. Her long, braided blonde hair glinted, and a single lock hung over her face. Blue-tinted sunglasses obscured her eyes, adding to her confident demeanor.

The woman shifted into a fighting stance, her movements fluid .“Name’s Coach,” she said.

Tackle mirrored her stance, her body tense and ready. “Tackle,” she replied.

Coach smirked, her skin beginning to glow with a faint yellow hue as she shifted into a running stance. “Program: Charge!”

Coach’s thoughts raced.

If I hold my charge long enough, I’ll move faster than a lightning strike. She doesn’t stand a chance. Another officer down.

Tackle’s eyes narrowed as she braced herself for their battle.

The battle raged on within the vast lobby, the sounds of clashing energy and gunfire reverberating throughout. Shinku and Roton darted through the air as they evaded Star’s relentless assault. Star, twisted his body to dodge Roton’s bullets, while Shinku pushed to close the gap, attempting to corner the monitor.

“Beware of his program,” Roton warned. “If he hits you with it, you’ll be severely damaged. It’s like very compressed data being shot out at once, like an explosion.”

Shinku nodded. “I know! But it looks like he has to wait before he can fire those blasts. There’s a small window of time where he can’t use it!”

Star, however, wasn’t wasting any time. He dashed through the crowd, evading bullets with expert precision, his every move calculated and quick.

“Why, Star?! What is all of this?!” Roton shouted.

“The problem is that humans have limitations and computers don’t,” Star replied, his voice cold and full of disdain. “You’ve tried to walk alongside us, the superior species. Getting rid of Mother Brain is one step closer to eliminating all humans.”

Roton scoffed. “I always knew you were uptight, but a chauvinist? That wasn’t on my list of things I’d imagine from you.”

Suddenly, a towering computer—a massive forklift with two fists—slammed down towards Roton and Shinku. They quickly used Glitch, teleporting behind Star to evade the attack. The forklift’s metal fists crashed into the ground where they had just stood.

Star snapped, running back toward them. “Don’t help me! I’ll handle this battle myself! You all deal with the cannon fodder!”

Shinku’s eyes flashed. “Roton, try using your program to shift us around, trip him up!”

Roton nodded. “Sure!”

Before Roton could act, Star’s voice rang out, filled with fury. “You don’t stand a chance! You’re nothing compared to me!” He held his palms out, the air around them crackling. “Crash!”

A massive burst of energy exploded from Star’s hands, sending shockwaves through the air. Roton quickly Glitched Shinku out of the blast’s radius and teleported himself into the air, opening fire on Star. Bullets rained down in a chaotic barrage, creating a bullet hell that Star could barely keep up with. Star responded by materializing a shield of data to block the incoming fire, but the sheer intensity of the attack began to break through.

Star roared, “You think you can stop me?” His eyes burned with determination as he retaliated with a Crash aimed at the ground, shattering the floor beneath him. The battle continued in mid-air as Roton and Star engaged in hand-to-hand combat, their strikes and blocks a blur of motion. Shinku jumped up to join the fray, his movements quick but disoriented as he tried to keep up with the constant shifting of positions.

“Does Ekriya know of all this?!” Roton asked.

“Who is that?” Shinku asked, his eyes narrowed as he tried to track the situation.

“He’s the Monitor of District 4.” Roton replied.

Star chuckled. “ He is aware. Ekriya knows all about Vitron’s plan, but he’s too much of a pacifist to do anything about it.”

Roton didn’t have time to answer as Star swung his leg, locking it with Shinku’s in mid-air. The two struggled for a brief moment before breaking apart, both of them temporarily thrown off balance. Roton and Shinku continued to teleport all around Star, sometimes finding themselves in random directions before quickly readjusting their course to return to the fight.

“This power is confusing!” Shinku shouted, his frustration mounting as his body was pulled in various directions by Glitch.

“I’m sorry, Shinku,” Roton called back, his voice strained, “I can barely control it!”

Elsewhere, the chaos was unraveling. Epongi, shaking with fear, crouched in the corner, his hand gripping his hair as he repeated, “I don’t want to be here anymore! My head’s spinning!”

Meanwhile, Vitron, crawling along the floor, finally reached Anthril, who stood firm at the tunnel’s entrance. “That officer—he has the exact program I need,” Vitron panted, his voice urgent. “It’s the power I’ve been looking for. Go tell Star! Like I said!”

Anthril nodded, he moved toward Star, his steps quick and silent.

As they all fought in mid-air, Anthril leapt toward Star, evading the chaos around him. He reached him, gracefully grabbed his chin, and whispered into his ear. “Don’t let that boy die. He’s off-limits.”

With a smirk, Anthrill fell back into the crowd, leaving Star to process the unexpected directive.

Inside the dome, the battle surrounding Mother Brain intensified, its writhing form a testament to the chaos being unleashed upon it. Vitron, continued to coordinate the operation, his face twisted in a grim satisfaction. He knew that every virus pushed deeper into Mother Brain would bring them closer to their ultimate goal.

Meanwhile, within the chaos of the fight, Xenox, was engaged in battle with Aiye. He swung his appendages to block Aiye’s relentless slashes. Aiye’s sword, a candy cane-shaped weapon, sliced at him, but its strikes seemed to do little more than graze him. Enveloping Xenox was a hexagonal-shaped field of data that swirled around him.

“My weapon isn’t chipping you!” Aiye grunted,

Xenox chuckled. “This is my Program: Recycle Bin. Anything constructed from data will have its power absorbed by me. The more you use that weapon on me, the deeper you dig your grave.” He extended one of his appendages, swinging it toward him, forcing Aiye to jump back to avoid the deadly swipe.

“Damn it!” Aiye cursed.

Across the battlefield, Kimida stood her ground, a unique weapon in hand. The front of her gun featured multiple holes where bullets would fire from, data swirling around her as she activated her Program. “Now I can use it!” she shouted. “Program: Aimbot!” Her pupils transformed into crosshairs.

“Target confirmed! Xenox!” Kimida declared as she sprinted deeper into the crowd, using the cover to her advantage.

Xenox, still locked in combat with Aiye, couldn’t help but think.

Prog was fighting me for like two seconds, and then these two showed up. Where did he go?

Before he could make sense of the situation, a sudden, violent boom rang through the air. His vision was filled with a blur of motion as a flurry of bullets slammed into the back of his head, their force making him stagger forward.

“Hydroarm!” Xenox growled, realizing the trajectory of the shots.

That girl is shooting at me from so far away—she’s not missing a single shot!

He glanced behind him, trying to spot the shooter, but Kimida had already disappeared into the crowd. All he could hear were the relentless cracks of her shots echoing in the distance.

“I’ll knock you down, bullet by bullet!” Kimida shouted, firing from her hidden position. “I won’t miss!”

Xenox was forced to focus on her bullets while still keeping Aiye in check. The constant barrage of gunfire was beginning to wear him down, making it difficult to maintain control.

Crouched onto a railing to one of the higher levels in the dome was Prog, now translucent.

“Program: VPN” he muttered.

“With enough time having passed, in this form I’ll be undetectable to Recycle Bin. Aiye and Kimida are doing well as distractions.”

As he readied himself for the next strike, a panel on the back of his helmet opened, revealing a long, segmented whip-like weapon. Its thick cubes were surrounded by swirling data, and Prog grinned. “My weapon, Blockchain, will cleave through anything.”

With a swift motion, he jumped from the railing, his body moving with lethal precision. Below him, Xenox was still trying to deal with the overwhelming barrage of attacks. Kimida’s bullets continued to strike from all directions as Aiye pressed him on every side. Xenox’s focus was beginning to waver, and he found himself struggling to defend against the overwhelming onslaught.

“Time to end this,” Prog muttered, his body a blur of motion as he descended on Xenox.
