Written in the Stars

Saturday 23rd of April 3030

Nyco and Emma went to the Moon on her 31st birthday.
They visited the place were they had taken that silly picture when they were kids.

-Come ooon. Let’s do it!-, Nyco begged his girlfriend.

-I don’t want to! It’s too childish-, Emma expressed.

-Mmmm. So our age difference is finally taking a toll on our relationship. Getting over thirty just automatically turns you into an old hag I see… My, my… what a tragedy-, Nyco teased.

-Hey! I’m only two years older than you!-, Emma said, playing along.

-Come ooon. It’s just a silly picture. I’m sure AI-Juliet will love it-, he noted

-It’s my birthday! Why should I spoil you?!

-Because my present will be worth it-, he said.

They ended up recreating the picture. Nyco laughed when he saw Emma on his back as he jumped up and down on the surface of the moon. Nyco compared the two pictures and saw the big difference in Emma’s face. This time, unlike when they were kids, she was laughing.

Watching the old picture, Emma started missing her late mother. She could see how happy Juliet was with both Nyco and Emma in that picture.

-She would have loved to see us together, Nyco. She loved you so, so much-, Emma said with melancholy.

-I know-,said Nyco with a grin. -AI-Juliet always makes sure I do. I’m so glad Silvy and It were finally able to bring Juliet’s body back from that hellish planet-, Nyco added.

-Yes… Whatever happens. Promise me you’ll never go to that planet again. That’s… the only planet I ask that you never go to. Please-, she said remembering how much she had suffered because of the frozen planet.

-I promise-, said Nyco

After walking and floating over the surface of the moon, they got back into the little house Nyco had rented for just the two of them. They both took off their space suits and set them aside.

-That ended better than expected. Last time we were on the moon you took my helmet off-, Nyco joked.

-I knew you would tease me with that! I shouldn’t have shown you that Experience-, Emma said continuing to play along with his silly jokes.

She was so happy. They had been through so much but they finally were together.

Nyco ended up being a Planet-Gazer again. She didn’t like him risking his life, but she knew he’ll always be that way. Nyco made sure to jump back home a lot in order for her to worry as little as possible. She still worried, but at least he was always with Silvy and AI-Juliet. Emma trusted them with his care.

-It’s time for your present-, Nyco said as he handed her some VR goggles.

-You didn’t even wrap it up? How lazy…-, she teased knowing it could not be the VR goggles.

-Just put them on-, Nyco insisted with a smile.

Emma put the goggles on with the help of his boyfriend. When she opened her eyes, she saw Nyco right in front of her with a big smile. She turned around and saw the room around them exactly as when she didn’t have them on.

-Are they on?-, she wondered. -I’m watching the room we are in.

-They are on, yes. You just have to come closer to the window and look at the sky-, Nyco indicated guiding her to the window. -Ok, now look up. A little to the right… Ok there-, he said monitoring what she could see through the goggle’s remote screen.

-I see the stars but nothing out of the ordinary-, she announced.

-I know I know…. A little patience please-, Nyco said. -Aaaand, there.

Emma’s goggles then zoomed in on a particular solar system.

-Remember when I told you when we were kids, that Planet-Gazers can sometimes name the stars?-, Nyco told her with excitement.

-... yeeeeees? Wait!… No… No way!-, Emma said in shock. She had showed him that memory she created in the 5-S a few years back. She could not believe he had given it importance.

-Well. It took me a while. It’s not easy making merits between all the Star-finders. But your love motivated me and pushed me through new limits-, he said.

-Hahaha, so corny-, Emma laughed.

-Yeah, but you love it. Don’t you-, he teased.

-Mmmm. Maybe-, Emma kid

-I have to thank you for showing me that memory. I could finally keep my word that I would write your name in the stars-, Nyco said. The young man then pressed a button on the remote and Emma saw  her name appear on the surface of the star. -It’s a reminder that I’m always thinking of you-, he added.

-Thank you, Nyco… I…lo…

-Wait wait. There’s more-, Nyco interrupted her. -They also let me name a few of the planets orbiting the sun called Emma. The Emma system has 8 planets orbiting it. But I only needed four-. Nyco then pressed another button and the planets started showing their names one by one.

-Will… You… Marry… Me?-, Emma read as their names came up. -Will you marry me?!!

Emma took off her goggles and found Nyco on the floor on one knee holding a beautiful pink wedding ring. She was so shocked she stayed silent for a few seconds taking everything in.

-Well?-, he asked with a smirk.

-Yes… Yes Yeees! I will marry you. Of course I will!-, the girl screamed as he put the ring on her finger.

She jumped at the love of her life and made him fall back in the bed. She then gave him a warm and loving kiss on the lips.

-I love you and I always will-, Nyco told her as he cleaned a happy tear from her face. -You know… I feel like I’m the luckiest man in the world. I was able to fall in love with the most wonderful woman in the universe, twice. And I loved every minute of it. I would fall in love with you over and over again Em. I don’t care if I’m a Star-finder or if I lose my memory. My feelings for you are stronger than any of that. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me and that will ever happen-, Nyco said kissing her again.

-I… I love you with all of my heart, Nyco. I know it was destiny that made us meet that day at the beach. I thank God that I ran out from home that day-, Emma chuckled as she remembered how they met. -I will always be by your side. I’m yours forever, Nyco.-, Emma assured him with a kiss.

Nyco had never been happier in his life.

After Emma had fallen asleep in his arms, Nyco looked at the stars through the window and smiled, thanking God for letting him give her that present.

He felt that all he had ever done or experienced was leading up to that one moment. He felt like the luckiest man in the universe . Nyco looked at his future wife sleeping on his shoulder and gave her a light kiss as she slept.
