Chapter 21:
Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World
Bibi and Tomokazu locked their eyes once more. Hiroshi was intrigued at how the fight was going to continue. However, he knew by previous fights and experience that Tomokazu might just pip Bibi to the post in terms of battle IQ. However, Bibi’s fighting style was entirely unpredictable in every way. She could pull off a very unpredictable victory.
The mechanism on her chest, which seemed to have an open, circular reactor inside, began charging up. The outside of the circle flashed a brilliant yellow light. It was charged up almost immediately.
The beam fired from Bibi’s chest, making Tomokazu dodge just in time as the concrete wall behind him was completely destroyed. He smiled an uncanny grin at her, loving the feeling of adrenaline.
“You’re a good fighter, Bibi. That was your name, right?” Tomokazu asked in a surprisingly excited tone. “I sense much anger in you. Am I the cause of that?” At those sentences, Bibi clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. Hiroshi leaned forward from the wall he was leaning against, attempting to listen closely.
“Not you specifically, Tomokazu. I just need to use you as a steppingstone to reach your father. He…he needs to die,” she grunted through gritted teeth. The crowd gasped. Nobody ever spoke ill of the God of Hope before. It was as if declaring war. Tomokazu responded with a disgruntled laugh.
“I would usually get angry at an idiot like you, saying bad things about my father like that. However, I don’t really see how you can back up your claims. Kill my father? You haven’t even made me use my magic yet!”
“W-What?” Bibi reeled back in shock. She was certain that one of her last attacks almost knocked Tomokazu out of the arena. So why was he claiming that he wasn’t even using his power? Was he toying with her all this time?
“Surprised? Granted, you had some great surprise attacks! You’re just too slow! Even for a descendant of a God! Imagine what would happen if you went up against my father! Now, will you surrender and allow me to walk through to the finals? I’m in a hurry to talk to somebody.”
At that moment, Tomokazu turned and locked eyes with Hiroshi. His eyes narrowed, and some sort of bright, white glow began emitting from him. It was as if he was trying to assert dominance over the young man presented before him.
That’s when Hiroshi felt it.
For the first time in his life, he felt as if he wasn’t in control of his own actions. Without volunteering, he clenched his fists together and unleashed his own presence. His presence was just as black as charcoal and rivalled the amount of energy Tomokazu presented. Hiroshi was dumbfounded.
“Kuro-Yami? What was that?” Hiroshi blurted out, dumbfounded at Kuro-Yami’s sheer power.
“I just released a small bit of presence from you. No big deal. I couldn’t just allow him to upstand you like that,” the Demon in his head spoke honestly. Hiroshi smiled, directing it at his one and only friend. At least Kuro-Yami would always have his back, and he would always give one hundred percent to return the favor.
Tomokazu backed down, slightly overwhelmed at Hiroshi’s scale of power. It only made him more curious to fight him in the arena and figure out how high his power ceiling was. How could he have that much power?
But first…
The God’s child closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He was as calm as a low breeze on a Sunday afternoon. The world was at peace. He was at peace. Nothing could bring him out of his trance.
His feet began levitating off the ground.
“Oh my! I hope my eyesight doesn’t deceive me, but it seems as if the God’s child has started to take flight! This is the true power of a descendant of the God’s, ladies and gentlemen!” Alexander the Presenter announced, lapping up every bit of this fight, and the crowd acted exactly the same way.
Bibi growled and crouched down low to the ground. After a short charge up, she pointed her palms to the ground and blasted off. She pulled her fist back, aiming to hit Tomokazu right in the nose.
“Your father is a false God! They are supposed to give humanity hope in trying times!” she yelled, anger overtaking her actions. Tomokazu smirked to himself.
“You rat!” he chortled back, dodging her punch comfortably, and grabbing her left leg. He swung her around and flung her directly downwards. Bibi slammed into the concrete floor below, making a mini crater. Despite this, she managed to get up very quickly. Just as she was about to launch herself back up, Tomokazu was already there, elbowing her in the ribs. Bibi cried out in pain. He kept hitting her in the face, over and over again.
“Never speak ill of the Gods, especially if you can’t live up to the expectations of even battling them!” he laughed loudly, not stopping the barrage of attacks on Bibi, even after she started to beg him to stop.
This was the gap between Gods and humans.
Hiroshi was puzzled. As a son of the God of Light, shouldn’t he be protecting people? Loving people? Fighting for them, not against them. He never even tried to hear Bibi’s comments or emotions. He just began abusing her. At that moment, Hiroshi realized what he was trying to do.
It was all a facade. He was trying to silence her. If there was a scandal between Bibi and the God of Light, it could cause unease. All the girl wanted to do was fight for what she believed in, and she was getting killed for it. Killing your opponent wasn’t against the rules, and the crowd couldn’t hear Tomokazu’s evil rambling.
And Hiroshi got extremely pissed off.
Tomokazu lifted up his blade, smiling like a complete maniac. Bibi could hardly see through the amount of blood that she had lost in her face.
“Everybody! This woman has threatened to kill my father, the God of Light! For this treason, I shall execute her here and now. Thank you for understanding!” he called out very loudly in a confident, loving voice. The crowd cheered louder than ever before.
“Good riddance!”
“What blasphemy!”
“Thank you for protecting us, Tomokazu!”
That’s what the crowd was cheering. Bibi got tears in her eyes. She never even bothered crying out for help. She just accepted her fate. Tomokazu lifted up his blade, and Bibi closed her eyes, waiting for her inevitable death.
“I’m sorry, dad,” she wept to herself.
That never came.
She opened her eyes. The blade had stopped an inch in front of her cranium. Another sword was crossed, blocking it.
“That’s enough, bastard,” Hiroshi hissed, narrowing his eyes and staring deeply into Tomokazu’s soul.
