Chapter 2:
Laurels Journey
The first princess of the kingdom of Ukeviel. And as of this moment, a student of the Nansnity Academy of witchcraft.
Hello! Nice to meetcha! My name’s Blake Everlyne. And I'm gonna become the wizard king! Eh, wait no, that's not right, I mean the greatest witch of all time!
Hmm.
What was that? ... Come again I didn't quite get you?
How did I get here, you ask? Well, naturally by broomstick. This place was the most amazing school of magic around! A school for witches! You couldn't just waltz over, silly.
Or could you?
The exact location was, somewhere waaay over the Eidrisl mountains, and waaay deep in the Elokore forest. Last time I checked the Elokre forest was pretty dangerous. So, walking through it probably wasn't a good idea, huh?
Hmmm.... I mean, if I learned magic I could probably takedown a monster or two, easy peasy! I could go BANG! WHAAM! BLAAM! And beat down on any nasty monsters.
So, I guess taking a walk through the Elkore forest is one of my goals now, for after I graduate that is.
Putting aside how I got here. The Nansnity Academy of witchcraft, the place where I was going to be spending the next three years of my glorious life, was a prestigious all girls' boarding school. Here only the most talented girls from all around the world were accepted.
Even as the first daughter of the King of Ukeviel, I was no exception.
Regardless of class, wealth or status, students were each treated equally in accordance with their individual talent for witchcraft, commoners, nobles everyone was equal!
So, you see I didn’t get in because I’m royalty but because I’m a real bona fide genius!
Favouritism was a major no, no! At least I’d like to believe so.
Students were graded based solely on Individual talent. What does that mean you ask?
Well before enrolling I had to take a test to see what grade my magic potential was. Grades were organized like so: 1A, 2B, 3C, 4D, 5E, and finally 6F.
In the Academy, your class was determined by what grade your magic potential was, we all got special treatment catered to our exact needs. The highest known grade of human magic being A.
At the age of three, children usually became aware of their magical abilities or lack or thereof. It was also at this age, that the grade of a child's magic was at its peak and was ready to be measured.
The grade of a human child’s magic at three never changes, and magic was extremely rare. Normally one in ten people had it. Just having magic was special enough.
Oh? You want to know what grade my magic was at? Heh, it's embarrassing but I'll tell you, I'm one of the special ones. My magic grade was 6F, okay yeah that’s practically the weakest grade but the important this is that I even have a grade…
6F which is not that powerful is still incredibly rare!
All the girls here were either talented, really talented or really really really TALENTED! I was of the former, just talented. Average by the schools standards however. But there's nothing wrong with that.
As an aside my little sister Charlotte was in grade 1A! Sooo much talent! Charlotte was so precious, not just to me, but to the entire empire! Our homelands best girl! She was like a national treasure! The first A grade witch the kingdoms had had in years!
And that treasure made it a routine to see me every day! Without fail! Not even once! For weeks, I had been showered in my sister’s adorable love almost non-stop.
She had come to see me every single chance she got, can you believe it? Even before we could start practical magic lessons, she was finding time to see me instead of studying!
So cuuute!
I'd protect that delicate flower, with my life!
