Chapter 19:
Veil of the Shadow Hunter
After few months has passed since Leegna's meeting with Stina , we are about to see how emotions are able to make us do things whether we like it or not . But this time not in a romantic way, but in a way where our protagonist is going to be put through one of his life hardest moments .
The precognition he has might come up helpful at times, but not this time ...
Meeting with Stina
-Leegna entered the cozy café, its warm lights and the rich aroma of coffee offering a comforting contrast to the darkness of his recent experiences. He spotted Stina at their usual corner table, her welcoming smile a beacon of normalcy amid his turbulent life.
"Leegna!" Stina greeted, standing to give him a warm hug. "It's good to see you. How have you been?"
Leegna forced a smile, appreciating the genuine warmth in her eyes. "It's been... challenging. But it's always good to see you, Stina. Thanks for meeting me."
As they sat down, Stina's demeanor was one of unwavering support. They chatted about their lives, catching up on the mundane and the extraordinary. Despite the weight Leegna carried, Stina's presence provided him with a sense of normalcy and hope.
"You know," Stina said thoughtfully, "I've always admired how you manage to stay strong through everything. It's like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders."
Leegna's heart ached with gratitude and sorrow. "I guess you could say that. Sometimes it feels like I'm fighting against forces I can't control. But having a friend like you... it makes the burden a little lighter."
As they spoke, Leegna's mind was troubled by the knowledge of what lay ahead. His precognition, a burden and a gift, revealed a future where he would face another devastating loss. Though he wished to protect Stina from the impending tragedy, he knew that fate was inescapable.
-Days later, as the sun set behind the cityscape, Leegna walked with Stina through a quiet park, their steps echoing softly on the path. The sky was a tapestry of twilight colors, casting long shadows that seemed to mirror Leegna's heavy heart.
Stina's voice broke the silence. "You've been distant lately, Leegna. Is something on your mind?"
Leegna hesitated, struggling to find the right words. He knew that no matter how he tried, he couldn't shield Stina from the truth that awaited them.
"There's something I need to tell you," he began, his voice tinged with sorrow. "I've seen something in my... visions. There's a danger coming, and I can't stop it."
Stina looked at him with concern and curiosity. "What kind of danger? You can tell me."
Leegna's gaze fell to the ground. "It's hard to explain. But I've seen a future where you're no longer here. I don't know how or when, but I've come to accept that this is a part of my reality I can't change."
Stina's eyes widened with shock and a hint of fear, but she placed a reassuring hand on his arm. "Leegna, whatever happens, we'll face it together. I'm here for you, and you're not alone."
The park seemed to grow darker, the weight of impending tragedy hanging heavily between them. Leegna's heart was heavy with despair, knowing that even with Stina's bravery and support, he couldn't alter the course of fate.
-Later that evening, as Leegna sat alone, grappling with his emotions, Yuj appeared, emerging from the shadows with an air of arrogance. His presence was imposing, his eyes cold and unreadable.
"You've been struggling with your burden, I see," Yuj said, his tone dripping with disdain. "A mere human like you cannot alter what is sealed by the threads of fate. Your efforts are futile."
Leegna looked up, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and desperation. "Why are you here? I've tried everything, and yet, I feel powerless to change what's coming."
Yuj's expression remained unmoved, his voice a harsh whisper. "You cannot defy the forces that govern existence. The paths that are set cannot be undone, no matter how much you wish it otherwise. Accept the reality that some things are beyond your control."
Leegna's heart sank as he faced the harsh truth. The weight of his impending loss, coupled with Yuj's cruel revelation, left him in a state of profound despair. He had finally found a true friend, only to be reminded of the inescapable tragedy that awaited.
As Yuj's form faded back into the shadows, Leegna was left alone in the darkness of the park, the crushing knowledge of Stina's fate filling him with an anguish he could scarcely endure.
Even after all of that , Leegna ignored the fact that the he is unable to twist the faith , he planed on stopping the awaiting tragedy.
He was about to head to the place and time before all of this was going to happen ,but all in vain.
-As later that day he received the call—Stina had been in a severe accident, her condition critical and her chances slim. The news struck him like a thunderbolt, shattering the fragile sense of normalcy he had clung to.
Leegna was too early yet to late ...
He recalled a time when his precognition had saved a life—a similar situation where he had intervened just in time to prevent a disaster. The memory was both a bittersweet reminder of his capabilities and a stark contrast to his current failure.
-"Why couldn't I stop this?" Leegna muttered to himself, his voice hollow. "I changed the course of a similar event before. Why not this time?"
He replayed the events in his mind, searching for any missteps, any opportunities he might have missed. But the answers eluded him. It was as if fate itself had closed off all avenues of escape.
-Yuj appeared once more, emerging from the shadows with his usual air of arrogance. The sight of him filled Leegna with a mixture of anger and disbelief.
"So, it has come to pass," Yuj said coldly, his tone devoid of empathy. "Your efforts to change the inevitable have failed."
Leegna looked up, his eyes red and swollen from tears. "I thought I could change it. I've done it before. Why couldn't I save her?"
-Yuj's gaze was unyielding. "You can't alter what is sealed by fate. Your precognition may have allowed you to intervene in the past, but that does not mean every event is within your control. Some destinies are fixed, no matter how hard you struggle against them."
Yuj's expression was one of cruel amusement. "Power comes with limits, Leegna. Even those with extraordinary abilities cannot escape the boundaries of fate. Accept that some things are beyond your reach and focus on what you can control, rather than despairing over what you cannot."
With those final, cutting words, Yuj vanished, leaving Leegna alone in his grief. The night seemed darker than ever, the silence a painful reminder of the loss he had been unable to prevent.
