Chapter 23:

Blossoming Flower's True Identity - Great Encounter Battle Arc

Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World

With Tomokazu officially through to the Final, Hiroshi and Blossoming Flower stood opposite each other in the arena. Hiroshi tried his best to tell how his opponent was feeling. All he could see was their determined eyes, narrowing slightly. Hiroshi drew his katana and ushered Blossoming Flower to do the same.

“I want this to be a battle of pure skill,” Hiroshi demanded to them. “Your skill with a blade is incredible to watch. You may have overheard my goal. However, I can’t even challenge Tomokazu, let alone the Gods, without more training of my blade. It’s why I’m here in the first place. So, please, don’t hold anything back, Blossoming Flower!”

Hiroshi couldn’t see their face, but he knew that Blossoming Flower was going to accept the offer. They seemed too determined to win the Tournament from the battles they had fought previously. They were very strong, and Hiroshi knew it was finally time to use some of his manna.

Alexander, now becoming even more nervous with how many rounds Hiroshi was progressing, decided to announce the opponents once more to the crowd.

“And now, everyone, we will have our second Semi-Final! Firstly, we have Number Five, Blossoming Flower, the masked warrior with the ice blade, who refuses to share their identity, even with me!” the crowd made a simultaneous sigh of awe and curiosity.

“Fighting them will be Number Eight, Shinigami, who I feel hasn’t shown us all of his arsenal! He is also somebody who doesn’t show even an ounce of fear towards the very people who swore to protect and provide for us! Our very own Gods!” the crowd responded with aggressive booing and jeering, the first time they had done so during the Tournament.

Hiroshi couldn’t care less.

He focused on taking Blossoming Flower head on. Finding a weakness. Becoming stronger, both mentally and physically. The rush of adrenaline came back to him as he waited for Alexander’s announcement. “You may begin!"

Both of the fighters didn't waste a second. The ice blade was drawn from its sheath. It was so beautiful it look at, it was almost mesmerizing. Hiroshi coated his own blade in his own darkness manna, which Kuro-Yami had agreed to before the fight had even begun.

"You can now start using your manna, Hiroshi. After judging Tomokazu's fighting style, he's nothing special, and I don't think we need as much manna against him as I originally thought. In fact, I think we overestimated him," Kuro-Yami said to Hiroshi, as he had been analyzing all the fights up until this point.

It still shocked Hiroshi that Kuro-Yami was even more confident about beating the God's child, even after watching him fight. He wondered just how powerful Kuro-Yami was...

Blossoming Flower swung their sword across their body in a perfectly horizontal motion, which made a huge ice wall, blocking Hiroshi's path. He ran towards it at full speed, lifting his sword above his head, and doing a clean, overhead slash, cutting the wall in two.

Blossoming Flower had just enough time to put their sword in front of their face before Hiroshi came in with a very sudden attack. He then parried their counter attack, which included a flurry of quick attacks towards his stomach area.

The masked fighter feinted one attack, leading into another immediately. Hiroshi stepped back slightly, but it wasn't enough. Blossoming Flower swung their ice blade, killing Hiroshi in one, swift strike.

Or at least, that's what would have happened.

Hiroshi's body moved completely on it's own, parrying the blade with precision. He gasped in surprise, and Blossoming Flower seemed impressed with his movement, yet refused to open their mouth.

"W-was that you, Kuro-Yami?" Hiroshi stuttered, realizing that he was saved by the man that took residence in his brain.

"Yes, just be very careful. I can't control your movements like that forever, unless I completely take over your body," Kuro-Yami spoke his knowledge to Hiroshi, who took the new information in his stride. He even chuckled.

"That's unnecessary, my friend. Besides, Blossoming Flower is never going to kill me."

As if on cue, Blossoming Flower launched into the air, swinging their blade again in a similar motion than before, summoning ice crystals to fly towards Hiroshi's face. The man didn't move a muscle as he let all of the ice crystals fly past him. As his challenger landed on the ground, they slammed their fist down, creating a path of ice that leapt towards Hiroshi at great speed.

He allowed it to hit him, and it covered his shoes in ice, sticking him to the floor. With a cocky smirk, Hiroshi jumped out of it with relative ease and took to the air, swinging his sword around while doing a flip over his attacker.

Blossoming Flower parried every slash with their own blade. After they got some distant with some quick side steps, they opened up their palm and pointed it at Hiroshi, shooting a big ball of ice at him. He cut it perfectly in the middle with spectacular fashion.

Hiroshi was amazed at their fighting style. It was the first time he saw real magic in person. The idea of forming an ice ball out of thin air was almost alien to him. However, Blossoming Flower didn't scare him in the slightest. Even with the whole crowd cheering their name, and booing him, Hiroshi seemed unphased. They locked eyes for a moment. Then, Hiroshi sheathed his sword.

"I have to say, I'm really impressed. When I first met you, I never really considered how strong and cool you really were. You are incredible! But I knew that you were never going to kill me. Am I right or wrong, Wisteria? I told you not to hold back, didn't I?" Hiroshi allowed his guard to drop as he seen Blossoming Flower's eyes bulge open.

It was her alright.

Wisteria Itsumi.
