Chapter 1:

Barn

The Alps

Rooster crow and shine of the dawn wake those kids in abandoned barn. They lived there for a while cuz of their condition. They don't have anything, yacht, private jet, houses, even food. All they have is themselves and each other (and some clothes).

"Wake up Emilia, we should go further to find it. Remember what mama said, nothing will happen if we just wasting time in same place," said the older brother to his sister. She woke up and rubbed her eyes. With her droopy sleepy gloomy eyes, she look at his brother eyes. Like she was sayin' when will it all end, i'm tired all of this sh*. I should be a student who was supposed to be joking around in class with my friends at school, instead had to wander around looking for an unclear destination. I thought it wouldn't end until my brother was satisfied with exploring the mountain. God, why was I born with this arbitrary older brother. Then back to sleep. His sister really doesn't care about her brother goal again.

Due to sleeping too long, she woke up when the sun began to flash in her eyes. She woke up in the middle of the field while her brother makin something like soup. From behind, her brother says "Did u already wake up? How about the sun light, it is warm isn't it? That's good for your bone and eyes." And what she can do is just staring at him who put her in the middle of field. "You've been there for four hours, come quickly if you don't want to get burned," he continued. She get up and stare to her feet, it's red. She quickly ran towards her brother who was preparing food under the hood. He started pouring the food into the bowl, and again, his sister staring at it like she was saying, what the hell is this, i'd rather continue my sleep than eat this f*kin' food vomit. It's look poisonous. Can i eat this?  And when she try to taste it, her eyes turn became like, damn, it's not that bad. "Did u try to ask what this soup made of? This soup are made of-"
Because the soup was too hot, his sister released her grip on the bowl from her palm while her brother try to tell her what ingredients he used to make the soup. And of course the soup spilled everywhere and it's touch her feet skin little bit. Her brother just smiled and sighing then clean it up with the last patchwork they had.

Hour after hour passed, it goes darker and darker. In the barn, the girl try to make herself useful with turn on the torch and some natural candle. She went upstairs to saw and feel the calm night atmosphere.

While waiting for her brother who was doing a barn job, she tried to understands his older brother who always takes her around the mountain without the help of adults, why didn't he just give up, whats make him bound to these mountains. She really want to ask allat to her brother.

"Emilia, r u still awake or already sleep," ask her brother after open and close the barn door.
And she answer it with foot stomp in the 2nd floor. "We should move to a village tomorrow. So, go to bed early, i'll go to bed first," he answered. Then she went to downstair with slightly fast footsteps. And those candles starts to fade as time goes on. A beautiful night to rest, hope they didn't get any distracted.
But fate said otherwise, there was a sudden smell of burning straw from outside the barn at midnight. And there's sound of someone footsteps near too. When she finally awake, she already sitting at floor behind the haystack, with her brother look around while hiding.

Barn door are opened, and there's siluet of someone that (very sure if he was) the one who set the fire. He looks like a 40-50 year old man with a height of about 5.9 ft tall. He walk around like he was search for something. Like he didn't mean to kill someone who use the barn. They were sure that their presence must have been noticed from the beginning. But strangely if the man was looking for something, why did he burn it? After a minutes, they finally leave the barn through the 2nd floor window after the man came out.

The little girl saw several burns around her brother's body cuz those fire. Her eyes began to open and her pupils getting little bit bigger. She is like aware of something. Awareness of something that she should have realized early.

They continued to run deeper into the forest, far from the farm. But while running, the girl fell and hurt her knee. They were feel forced to take a break to heal her wounds first. His brother quickly gathered firewood and some pine cones to burn. The girl's mouth started to move as if she wanted to say everything, but then closed again. She held back so that her brother could rest.

At the morning, they started to continue the journey. "An advantage that I always tie a map on my belt," he says while open the map. "After this, we will pass the Lenzerhorn and then the Bergün Filisur to be able to rest in Zuor before late at night," said her brother who was very optimistic.

Finally late night and they managed to find a sufficient resting place in Zuor. They spent weeks in peace there. They also got jobs and wages from some of the people there, which was quite good. Because of course everyone has a different nature, some are generous and grumpy, but they still do the work given. Her guilt-ridden sister started trying to do things like helping the church by cleaning the yard to earn a little food. Because of the day, the little girl's outlook was a little awakened. She became more resigned and continued to run the wheel of destiny that had spun as it should.
