Chapter 10: I’d Rather Do Nothing Than Make a Mistake

LiCangTian

The three major disciplines of cultivation each have nine stages, generally referred to as the Lower Three Stages, Middle Three Stages, and Upper Three Stages. Each stage has its own name. For instance, the fourth stage in martial cultivation is called “Flying Sky,” symbolizing the ability of martial artists at this stage to engage in aerial combat. The fifth stage is “Soaring Clouds,” indicating that one can ascend to the heights of the clouds. These are beautiful names, but for prodigies like Li An and Frost Snow, they are collectively referred to simply as the Fourth Stage and the Fifth Stage. In the eyes of limitless-level prodigies, the Lower and Middle Three Stages are merely transitional phases. From the age of twelve, when their talent sigils fully form, prodigies begin their cultivation journey—not by learning skills or practicing weaponry, but by focusing on a single goal: advancing through the stages! There is a common principle in cultivation: the younger you are, the faster you advance through the stages.Human society pours enormous resources into limitless-level prodigies, enabling them to reach the Upper Three Stages as quickly as possible.Under normal circumstances, limitless prodigies reach the seventh stage around the age of twenty-seven.Only then do they begin to improve their overall combat abilities and discuss the titles of the stages they’ve attained. Before that, their sole focus is stage advancement!Currently, Li An is at the peak of the Third Stage in all three disciplines. While this might sound impressive, he has already fallen behind other limitless-level prodigies.Li Shaoshu, who specializes in spiritual cultivation, has already reached the late Fourth Stage, a full stage ahead of Li An.But Li An isn’t worried.Because his gift lies in dreams! And dreams are a late-blooming talent! He has already learned how to cultivate his physical body within his dreams. In the future, he believes he will also be able to advance through the stages in his dream state. What’s more, time flows ten times slower in dreams than in reality! The Supreme Fist is Li An’s confidence in battle.Dreams are his confidence in falling behind his peers without worry.Mastering all three disciplines is his confidence in facing any enemy! The morning passed in the blink of an eye.Not only was Frost Snow not tired, but she became more focused and engrossed. She seemed exhilarated, as if she had fallen in love with punching bags. From punching through a 500-pound bag to her current efforts with a 1,000-pound one, she had just started attacking a 1,500-pound bag.Suddenly, Frost Snow stopped punching, frowned slightly, and muttered to herself, “No wonder you don’t wear clothes.”“It’s uncomfortable to move in these.”As she spoke, she prepared to remove her dress again.Li An, who was eating nearby, quickly intervened.“What’s wrong with you?”Frost Snow explained how her clothes restricted her movements.Li An couldn’t help but swallow hard before saying, “Don’t rush. I’ll find you something looser to wear.”“Why not just not wear anything?” Frost Snow asked, puzzled.“Didn’t your father ever tell you that girls shouldn’t casually undress?”“No,” Frost Snow shook her head.“And no one else told you?”“Someone else?” Frost Snow furrowed her brows. “I haven’t met anyone else.”Li An couldn’t help but ask, “So, from childhood until now, you’ve only attended half a year of primary school? You’ve had no other interactions with the outside world?”“None,” Frost Snow nodded.“Not at all?”“Right.”Li An was baffled. What is this?Does she truly lack even the most basic understanding of life?“What did you do all day at home?”“Stared into space.”“For eight years?”“Since I was little.”“Wasn’t it boring?”“It was, but I was in pain, so I didn’t want to move.”“Did your father ever teach you anything?”“No. My father was very busy. Most of the time, he wasn’t around. When he did appear, it was only to take me to see doctors.”“Alright.”Li An patiently explained to Frost Snow, “Anyway, you shouldn’t casually undress.”“Your body isn’t something to show others casually—it’s private, meant for you to keep to yourself.”Frost Snow nodded quietly and said, “But isn’t this a private setting? There’s no one else here.”As she spoke, she glanced around.Hearing her words, Li An looked at her innocent, untainted eyes and suddenly felt a pang in his heart. After all, he had been an orphan for half a year—The kind of orphan whose death wouldn’t even warrant a funeral.Suddenly, Li An chuckled.“Thank you.”“For what?”“Nothing.” Li An shook his head. “Anyway, as long as you’re with me, you have to listen to me.”“Okay.”Li An said, “Practice on your own for a bit.”“And no undressing. I’ll go upstairs and grab some clothes for you.”With that, Li An left the basement and went to his room to fetch a pair of loose workout pants.Frost Snow wasn’t short, so they probably wouldn’t be too large.Still, he decided to buy her a set of women’s athletic wear.As he descended the stairs with the clothes in hand, he quickly opened StarNet, searched for women’s sportswear, picked three colors in her size, placed an order, and completed the purchase. At that moment, Li An was halfway down the stairs when he smelled blood. His pupils constricted, and he quickened his pace.Entering the basement, he saw Frost Snow sitting quietly on a chair, wiping the blood from her mouth and clothes. The room was filled with the metallic scent of blood.Li An hurriedly set the clothes aside and asked, “Are you okay?”Frost Snow shook her head and replied, “When my body temperature rises, this happens.”Hearing this, Li An’s expression darkened. He had initially thought that practicing martial arts would benefit her, but now it seemed the situation was more complicated than expected. At that moment, Frost Snow finished wiping her mouth, stood up, and swiftly removed her long dress. She moved so quickly that Li An didn’t have time to stop her. All he could do was turn his head away.A few seconds later, Frost Snow asked curiously, “Li An, what’s wrong?”At that moment, the angel and devil in Li An’s mind were locked in battle.Should I turn my head or not?In the end, he couldn’t resist. He turned his head slightly—then froze.Frost Snow had already put on the sportswear he had prepared for her.“What’s wrong?” Frost Snow’s small face was filled with confusion. She didn’t understand why Li An had acted so oddly, even turning away in apparent tension. Was there an enemy nearby?Li An quickly shook his head and said, “Nothing.”Frost Snow murmured under her breath, “Crazy”She thought to herself, We’re both crazy, so it’s normal for us to do strange things.Li An, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow.Did I just get called crazy?Frost Snow swayed her body slightly and said, “Thank you, Li An. This outfit is very comfortable.”Then, she turned to face the punching bag.Li An quickly asked, “What are you doing?”“Practicing punches. Why?” Frost Snow asked, puzzled.“You just vomited blood!”“Oh.” Frost Snow looked at the punching bag, turned her back to Li An, and said, “My father told me vomiting blood means my condition is worsening.”“But you said earlier that if I’m going to die anyway, I might as well do something. Maybe I’ll survive.”“I like that idea.”“And I like punching.”With that, Frost Snow struck the bag again!
