Chapter 4:

A New Dawn

Bound by fate

As the sun ignited the eastern sky, the ferocious struggle of the preceding night receded into a hazy memory. The forest, lately a theater of terror and mayhem, now glowed with the serene blush of dawn. Ethan, chest aching, stood triumphant, his gaze fixed upon the vanquished Troy, who lay prostrate but defiant. Lily, her pulse a frantic drum against her ribs, rushed to his side. Their eyes locked, and in that ephemeral instant, hope blossomed anew. A choked whisper escaped her lips, tears welling: “You saved me… you did it.” Her voice, a steady counterpoint to her trembling emotion, resonated with profound sincerity. He gently cradled her face, his touch a balm to her wounds. "Protecting you is worth a thousand such battles. The fear of losing you… it nearly consumed me." Troy, sensing the irreversible power shift, sprang to his feet, fury erupting like wildfire. “Blackwood,” he snarled, his voice thick with impotent rage, “this isn't finished! This disgrace will be repaid tenfold!” He vanished into the deepening shadows, a storm of vengeance brewing within him. Lily inhaled deeply, her gaze returning to Ethan. "What is our next course of action? He will undoubtedly return, and I cannot bear the thought of you jeopardizing yourself further for me.” Ethan's features softened, his eyes blazing with unwavering devotion. "We shall confront whatever fate throws our way, hand in hand. No one, and I mean *no one*, will sever our bond. I vow it."
