Chapter 1:

They asked Tiara "What's your favorite color?"

I'll do it, I'll save the world!

- I'll do it, I'll save the world!
- What the fuck are you talking about, Johnny?
- Oh, come on! Everyone knows it! (whispers) We're just not allowed to talk about it...
- Listen Johnny, you gotta shut your mouth! These aren't games, okay? We can't mention--
- Oh! Mitch, pleaaase! You're not just gonna sit and do nothing for a whole year? Hell, no human would!
- Look, we can still go out and live our lives normally, okay? That--
- And that's fine with you? Those fuckers- (belittling) "advanced lifeforms" or something came to Earth and now WE have to obey their orders, WE have to give up and live a fairy tale year, after which we'll all get erased from the face of the universe because they think of themselves as some higher form of being.

Mitchell got closer to Johnny's face and spoke under his breath.

- They razed fucking countries to the ground, be thankful our leadership decided to preserve the livelihood of its citizens!
- For a year?
- Listen Johnny, just... Whatever, I gotta go, I thought we could hang out, but shit... I don't wanna get into trouble. They've got ears all around.
- Well... That's why I found this!

Johnny pulls out a small cube, no bigger than a golf ball, holds it in his palm and raises his hand to eye level while looking intently at his friend, Mitchell.
Mitchell stared, confused but intrigued, the cube appeared to have unusual engravings that emitted a vibrant light, contrasting against the duller gray of whatever metal it seemed to be made of.

- And what would that be? Some toy cube? -- (sigh) I swear you haven't grown past your 20s.
- Nuh-uh-uh! Not a toy, Mitch. This here...

With utmost gravity, Johnny looks at Mitchell and continues.

- This here is the key, to one day save our world.

Mitchell bursts out laughing.

- Hahahah! You've gotta be kidding, man. Are you high or something? I mean, damn! I guess everyone is coping in their own ways nowadays.
- Watch.

Johnny brings his thumb over the cube and presses as if there were a button.
Within a fraction of a second a powerful pulse of light emanates from the device, quickly spreading to create a sealing dome of energy around them, an acute sound following the discharged energy.
Johnny had the smuggest expression on his face as Mitchell scarily dropped back onto the ground behind him, afraid it was some sort of explosion.

- What the fuck was that!?

Mitchell was shook to say the least.
Johnny kneeled towards Mitchell, who observed as the sealing orb of energy, no more than 10 feet wide, followed the cube held within Johnny's palm as its center.

- You see this barrier, Mitch?
- Yeah... The fuck is this!? -- Some weapon of theirs?
- No no, chill. Look, it's harmless.

Johnny extends his hand towards Mitchell, but the latter frantically moves back and stands up a bit before Johnny can get any closer.

- Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, you can keep that thing away. -- It just exploded! Are you crazy!? Throw it out!
- Nooo, man, look! (Johnny gestures around) It's the barrier around us! No explosions. Intiende?
- It's 'entiende'.
- What?
- What?
- Anyway, that burst of energy you saw and heard, that was the barrier showing around us.
- And now what, we're trapped or something?
- No, actually. This barrier, Mitch, it blocks any sort of communications with the outside world!
- You've gotta be kidding.

Mitchell holds his head in disbelief, overwhelmed by the situation, then looks back at Johnny.

- So... is this like a... a device from... y'know...
- Yeah, I found it on one of those dead guys.
- Are you fucking kidding me now?
- Don't worry man, nobody saw me, and they had already put the erasure thingies on him anyway.
- And you're telling me they left out this cube of theirs.
- I mean, I get it, it was a big risk. But honestly... I am tired of what our lives had become.
- You're crazy...
- The world is crazy, Mitch... What's crazy is how this entire world decided to give up... and just go along with these new space occupiers.
- And you say this thing really works how you say? No communications, readings and stuff?
- I've had this little thing for some time now, Mitch. It has a looot of functions. And yes, this seal around us, I tested it before. It does work as I describe it... the outsiders can't listen in to what happens inside it.
- What if someone walks in it, in this space. And, what if, ... I don't know, like, can we walk outside of it? Can you toggle this 'seal' off?
- Yeah, yeah, don't worry about it. Actually, the seal itself is covert, meaning, it will become indiscernible in a few seconds, and nobody will be able to see it.
- Really? Not even those...
- Not even those F-U-C-K-S, Mitch!
- You're way too confident in that thing.
- Well, as I told you, I had some time to 'play around' with it.

Mitchell finally stood up and seemed a bit more relaxed and understanding.

- Okay... so, you're telling me this thing, the seal, was on when we met, a few minutes ago?
- Yes, had it allll planned out. And...

Johnny gave Mitchell a friendly bump on the shoulder to calm him down a little.

- That's why I still got a head on my shoulders. -- Otherwise the 'over-worldly police' would be all upon us! (Johnny mockingly made fun of their oppressors) Scary.
- That shit is crazy. I can't believe you got some of their tech, and now use it around like it's nothing. How can you be sure, Johnny, what if they're spying on you now?
- Look, man, Mitch... Do you really want these outsiders to 'erase' us or whatever they mean by that. You, everyone out there, knows... what they're capable of, knows what they'll do to us.

Johnny sits down as he looks ahead at the townscape of their hometown, overrun by imposing patrols of occupiers that not three months ago landed on Earth and started unleashing doom, as if it were their playground.

- And you decided to be the hero in all this? What, with some gimmicky toy of theirs you found out of luck?
- Mitch... We'll be dead in one year... Is this how you want things to end?
- Stop asking that question, Johnny!

Mitchell paces around for a few seconds before speaking again as Johnny turns his attention back to the town lights in the distance.

- No... No, okay? No! I hate this whole thing, all of humanity hates it.

Mitchell sits next to his friend, continuing.

- But they have no soul, these freaks! They'll turn you into mush! Think about it! What, you'll go to a bunch of them and press this cube thing and be like "Hey there, bad guys! Aha! Now you can't spy on me, can yoU??". Unless this thing blocks bullets or lasers or whatever weapons they have, you're mush, friendo!
- It's 'amigo'.
- Shut up! This is no Spanish lesson!
- You started it.
- Be practical! You can't take on an army of some advanced super-species with some -- mute device of theirs!
- Well that is exactly why I've made a new friend.
- A new friend?
- Aaand, she should be here any moment now. (Johnny checked the time on his holo-watch)
- Oh you guys are all organized huh?
- Eh, she's maybe a bit late.
- And how will she help you exactly? (mockingly) Maybe you're gonna tell me she found one of their weapons instead, and now you two can go ahead, get some payback, huh?
- I'd be lying to say you didn't almost hit the nail on its head with that clue of yours.
- You're spewing bull again.
- What she found...

The distant sound of a motorcycle approaching was heard as one was nearing their location.

- Is much, muuuch bigger when it comes to dismantling our oppressors. -- And-

Johnny looked towards the single road leading to their hideout as the sound of an approaching engine roared louder before double clicking the cube device to have the seal, that had become invisible by this point, shoot out again and expand now three times its original size.

- Saving our world, once and for all!
