Chapter 1:

I Robbed A Rich Girl

Wait! Before I Die, Let Me Finish My Bucket List!

The Earth was going to end in the next 3 months.

It sucks, I know.

A year ago, news sources announced an asteroid was coming straight towards us.

They also said that NASA and other world governments were doing everything they can about it, and that people should continue with their everyday lives. Working for their lousy corporations, paying for rent and food.

That’s what I did for the past 6 months.

Until I learned about the failed missions from the government.

There was nothing they could do about it.

So what was I gonna do with my remaining time here on earth? And what’s my story?

Well, to start things off, my name is Manny Nguyen. I’m 23-years-old, and right now, I’m placing a ski mask over my head.

Because I was about to break into someone’s house.

Well, actually, not a house, but a mansion.

Now, I wasn’t doing this deed alone. My lovely wife of 3 weeks, Melanie Nguyen, (who was also my highschool sweetheart) was with me all the way.

She was wearing a ski mask and tight black clothing that showed just how beautiful she was with her long legs, brown hair, and hourglass waist.

“You look great,” I told her.

Melanie turned to me with a cheeky smile.

“Thank you~” she said. “You also look great~”

I placed my hands around her waist and felt her warmth in the center of my palm as she drew herself closer until our faces were just inches away.

“You think so?” I asked.

“Of course~,” she said with a loving voice. “In fact, you look scaryyyy.”

“Scary in a good way or in a bad way?”

Melanie giggled as I saw a sparkle in her eyes.

“Good, of course~”

She raised her hands up to my cheeks, caressing them for a few seconds before pulling my mask up and giving me a soft kiss.

“Now,” she said, pulling away, “can we focus on the task at hand, sweetie?”

“Oh, right,” I chuckled. “I almost forgot.”

We were in the backyard of a mansion in the dead of night. It was a mansion that Melanie knew from the back of her hand.

How does she know?

Well, allow me to give you guys a bit of an info dump.

This was the mansion of Melanie’s highschool bully. I think her name was Leah, or maybe it was Lia—I don’t know. I never asked how it was spelled.

But for the sake of this story, I’m going with Leah.

Now, Leah and Melanie used to be ‘friends’ back in freshman year of highschool. That was until Melanie found out that Leah and her group of friends were making fun of her behind her back.

She tried confronting them about it.

Then things got physical.

I don’t want to get into too much detail, but Leah’s torment didn’t stop until we graduated from highschool.

And now with the world ending in 3 months, it seemed like a bright idea to get revenge on my wife’s bully.

We were also doing this stick up for money, but that seemed obvious. I mean, who doesn’t want a bit of extra cash in their account, amirite?

Anyways, Melanie and I entered the mansion through the back door.

It was just unlocked. It’s crazy! I know!

The place was huge and dimly lit. On the walls were paintings of ‘modern art’ where the artist seemed to have spilled their bucket of paint on the canvas and called it a day.

There was also a spacious living room with a flat screen tv.

“Oh my God, do they have a home theater?” I whispered.

“Shhhh!!!” Melanie said, placing a finger on my lips.

I could tell she was getting annoyed, and I couldn’t blame her. She’d been wanting revenge on Leah for years. And since an asteroid was about to hit the Earth, there was no way she was going to pass on peacefully without Leah seeing some form of punishment.

Sorry,” I said, and Melanie pulled back.

In her right hand was a .357 magnum revolver and in mine was a P250.

We headed towards an enormous staircase that all mansions seem to have and headed up.

Alright, where do we go now?” I asked.

We were in the middle of a hallway now, and when I turned to Melanie, she was bent over with her hands on her knees.

Are you out of breath?” I asked, trying to keep my laugh under control.

“Yes, okay?! I’m out of breath! How are you not? It took us 5 minutes to get up here!”

“Because I actually exercise on a regular basis. Not just in P.E.

I had a smug smile, which caused Melanie to roll her eyes before smiling just a bit.

“Whatever,” she said with a bit of attitude. “Go to the left and down the hall. Leah’s room should be there.”

***

The two of us walked over to Leah’s bedroom door.

At least I hope so.

Because there were stickers of cutely drawn animals, a couple of flowers, and pink petals all over the door.

If this wasn’t Leah’s room, I’d be embarrassed.

So, what’s the plan now?” I asked.

What do you mean?” Melanie replied. “Break the door down or something. Make it scary!”

“Break down her door?! I can’t do that! I don’t have that kind of strength!”

“Can you at least try?”

“Why?”

“Because…” Melanie said, moving in a flustered manner, “I think you’d look cool if you did it~”

I smiled.

Really?”

“Yes, really. But I also want Leah to be so scared that she pees herself out of fear~”

She said it so cheekily. It made me laugh.

“There’s the real answer,” I said.

Melanie pressed her finger against my chest as she chuckled.

Both things I said were true, you know?”

From outside the door, we could hear Leah giggling. She was saying something to someone, probably on a call if I had to guess.

Then she stopped.

“Is someone there?” She called out.

Dang. She must’ve heard us from outside.

I turned to Melanie, who was staring at me with eyes that spoke a complete sentence.

‘Bust the door down.’

I took a couple of steps back. I didn’t have any confidence when it came to tackling doors wide open. I didn’t have the weight or the strength for that, but if I was going to bust the door down, I was more confident in my legs than anything.

Huuuuu…phewww…”

I took a few breaths.

Then I charged at the door and kicked it wide open.

“GYAAAAHHHHH!!” Leah screamed.

“AHHHHHHH!!!” screamed a man.

There was one guy on Leah’s bed. He had a muscular physique and a deep voice.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Leah shuffling on her bed before staying still.

Her head tilted in confusion.

“Wait a minute…is this a prank or something?”

I felt embarrassed. My face was red and my right foot was hurting.

From behind me in the hallway, I could hear Melanie giggling at me.

And the reason for that was because my foot was now stuck in the tiny hole that I had made.

“Urgh! URRRGH!! DANG IT!!!”

I tried to pull my foot out, but couldn’t.

“Pffttt!” The guy besides Leah laughed.

“Babe, did you put this man up to this?” Leah said with a smile.

“No, no, not me,” the man replied. “Did you do this?”

“No~” she said.

“Then, wait…”

The realization was kicking in for the couple.

With my foot still stuck in the door, I pulled my gun out and pointed it at Leah and her boyfriend.

“This is a robbery!” I yelled.
