Chapter 2:

Movie night

Chaos and cupids

When Chaos Felt Like Comfort
The horror movie was supposed to be terrifying, but somehow, Meme and Ayzee were in fits of laughter.
"This is so bad," Meme wheezed, clutching her stomach as a supposed-to-be-scary ghost tripped over a chair in the background. "Who made this? They need to be arrested."
Ayzee smirked, shaking his head. "You’re the only person I know who turns a horror movie into a comedy."
"That’s called talent," she said proudly, popping a piece of popcorn into her mouth.
The rest of the room had settled into quiet focus, but Meme and Ayzee kept whispering, throwing in their own ridiculous commentary. The longer they talked, the more the movie faded into the background, until it was just them—wrapped in the warmth of shared laughter and a kind of comfort neither of them fully understood yet.
Then, somewhere between their conversation and the flickering light of the screen, Ayzee shifted.
Without thinking, he let his head rest against Meme’s shoulder.
Meme stiffened for half a second. "Did you just—?"
"Shh," he murmured, closing his eyes. "You talk too much."
She huffed but didn’t push him away. Ayzee, for reasons he couldn’t explain, felt… peaceful. Meme—chaotic, loud, unpredictable Meme—was warm. And for the first time, he let himself be still.
He felt the flutter in his chest before he could stop it.
And that terrified him more than any horror movie ever could.
Later that night, long after the movie ended, Meme lay in bed, phone screen glowing in the dark.
She had been staring at their chat for ten minutes, hesitating.
Finally, she typed: Did you mean to lay on my shoulder, or were you just sleepy?
Three dots appeared. Then disappeared. Then appeared again.
Dunno, Ayzee finally replied. You were comfortable.
Her stomach flipped.
So… what does that mean?
This time, the reply took longer.
I like talking to you, Meme.
That was it. Simple. Casual. But somehow, it changed everything.
And before she knew it, they were something more.

The Relationship – A Love That Wasn’t Enough
The first few days were sweet. Meme, full of energy and excitement, gave her heart to Ayzee without hesitation. They texted constantly, found excuses to see each other, and for a little while, everything felt perfect.
But perfect never lasts.
Slowly, the cracks began to show. Ayzee didn’t text back as fast. Meme overthought things he didn’t even notice. Their small disagreements turned into real fights. Meme wanted to talk things out, while Ayzee shut down.
Love, it seemed, wasn’t enough to keep them together.
One month in, the inevitable happened.
And when it did, it broke Meme in a way she never saw coming.
