Chapter 6:

Goblins and now what?

Paradox

It was morning... the time for us to head out to the goblin's base of operations. The atmosphere was heated like every other day and the wind blew sand in our eyes like the usual.

We were both quiet and never spoke to each other since last night. That would make sense, since it was more on the emotional side.

As we were walking, we found remains of a camp left behind by the goblins. There were at least fifteen tents that could have held eight of the goblins in one.

We inspected...

There was no sign of anyone and no sign of Lily... I still never gave up hope, I stuck to the feeling that she was safe. There was nothing in the tents only blankets made of a wool like material, it was brown and covered with mud. “They are not too far from here, let's move” Izumi said in a stern voice. All I did was nod and followed...

Then while walking for an hour in the blazing sun, we found it. In a crater, there were so many goblins, at least three thousand.

The place was so huge, the goblins appeared as green dots from the top of the crater.

We laid down at the outer part of the crater to survey the area and to find the safest way to navigate around the place. We couldn't pin point the villagers but there was a big cavern at the opposite side where we were situated. We found a path, but it was not the safest one, so instead we decided to head to the armory first to get equipment before we get into any trouble.

We slid down a slope towards the base of the crater, my legs never had so many bruises in my life. It was bruised, no blood was showing so I thought it was alright to keep going. Moving through the tents all I thought about the first episode of a certain goblin anime I watched when I was still on earth... If that might happen to me if we get caught.

Wait...

What's the possibility that might actually happen to me?

Meh, I'll just trade Izumi as a human body pillow for my survival. It may be a bad idea, may be good? Who knows, I have to test it first...

Sneaking through the campsite we heard the sound of lashing from belts... Then we found some of the villager but only the males?...

I held back Izumi's hand from trying to start trouble and remind him that our goal was to release them without being detected and not to fight and put up a front that we were bound to lose. He calmed down and we started to make our way towards the armory.

Surprisingly, there was no one near the vicinity, which made it easier for us to get our jobs done. As we reached inside there were mountains of weapons; longswords, claymores, dagger, bows, bombs and other weirdly shaped objects.

We made it in the tent successfully without being caught what can go wrong?

Or so it seemed...

I tripped on a loose bomb on the floor and by stepping on the fuse, it rubbed on the sand and caught a fire. All I did was bite my tongue from scream and Izumi just watched me with disappointment. As he facepalmed the whole place blew up in flames.

We were left unconscious... but somehow alive.

When we both regained consciousness we were surrounded by unarmed goblins (thankfully). “This is your fault” Izumi sighed and fell back down unconscious.

I, as well was losing consciousness yet again last thing I remembered was being dragged away by blurry green pigs.

My head hurts...

My wrists tight...

My legs stiff...

Where was I? Is this how the afterlife felt?

I opened my eyes; there I was chained in a cellar, with Izumi right next to me. “Wake up, wake up” I yelled at Izumi. He slowly opened his eyes, “Why do I have to die with the person who ruined the mission by accident”. “We're not dead as yet unless you could get us out of this situation” I murmured. “And who made us get into this situation?” he retorted. My eyes leaned to the opposite side where he was facing.

“Why can't you use your water manipulation ability?” I asked. He started to explain, “There are certain limitations with using these incantations, one, I can only manipulate the amount of water that is the same amount that is composed in my body. Two, the water has to have magicules in it, which can only happen naturally, I can sweat but humans do not produce magicules, they manipulate and now where stuck in this mess since I used all of the water back at town to kill the goblins without thinking”.

Well, I made us end up in this situation, but then a grand idea came to my mind. “Can demi-humans produce magicules, goblins as well?” I asked. “Yes, they can, why do you want to know that for?” he questioned my sanity.

I just told him to follow my lead...

“Yo green pig looking fool! I bet that you have to tie us up or you would've died back there, right?” I said proudly. The goblins watched us and laughed. “I bet my pee tasted better than your sweat, even your smell overall”

The plan was to get them close enough to the cellar where Izumi can manipulate their sweat. But it got worse, we killed two birds with one stone, in a way. One goblin came closed to the cellar like we planned and peed on us. I screamed on top of my lungs.

Izumi laughed and just said thank you.

He manipulated the pee... into yellow looking daggers...

He pieced through the cellar with ease and at that very moment a horn started to blow. It wasn't because of use escaping but something even more deadly than us. All the goblins that were in the sight of Izumi didn’t have a chance to breathe, they were slaughtered in an instant.

As soon as he was finishing his rampage, I went to look for Lily... I went outside...

It was a bloodbath... No human was touched, there was only green blood everywhere with stone spikes that were made of the hard dirt under the sand impaled into them. All the tents had holes like it was stabbed a thousand times over, and the villagers were locked in cages.

I saw a glimpse of Lily in there but I couldn’t get to her.

Not yet...

There was something more sinister in the way...

A woman like figure, with golden blonde hair and a white robe with black stripes...
