Chapter 1:

The Chosen Hero and The Demon Lord

I Return To My World After My Adventure, But...The Demon Lord Comes With Me!?

The World of Ihari is a realm drowning in the horrors of war. Threatening the peace of all living things was an ancient powerful entity by the name of Jinn the Devourer. A demon from Hell who rose to the surface world with her army of Fallen Angels—her only desire was to claim all that she saw.

At the very start of the war, Ihari called upon its mightiest warriors to fight against the evil that was Jinn. But all opponents who engaged Jinn were met with the same crippling and embarrassing defeat. They were left as former husks of themselves——their bodies and spirits crushed by her overwhelming power before she inevitably snapped their necks and hung their corpses out in front of her castle as a warning to any who felt daring to challenge her.

Two hundred years after the start of the war, Ihari was becoming corrupted as Jinn began to take possession of every land she conquered. Sensing the end of the world, the holy priests of the Church of God from the Kingdom of Lydio had no choice but to call upon the ancient scriptures left behind by the prophets of old. Inside those very scriptures was an ancient spell meant to summon a powerful being from another world.

Desperate, the holy priests called upon their best sorcerers to complete the divine summoning spell.

To create the summoning ritual, they had to require nearly a million fragments worth of mana. Mana was the source of magic itself and was mainly derived from crystallized elements known as “Cores”. For ten years, nearly a thousand cores were collected and the holy priests gathered them around the center of the Great Cathedral.

Under a stormy night, they drew a massive magic circle made out of the blood of lamb and goat. They broke every single crystal until it was nothing but powder and scattered them all over every corner of the circle. And finally, they needed to channel their own magic and speak the ancient holy language of the past.

At that moment, the years of effort bore fruit as the light shined down from Heaven and a being from a whole other dimension was summoned.

And that being…was a high schooler by the name of Kiyo Hoshi.

A Japanese boy who lived in a world where magic was nothing but mere fantasy. How else would he react to being summoned to another world without panicking?

Despite his many plights of wanting to return home, the priests told him that it was impossible due to the summoning requiring so much magic for arrival that it would also take the same amount which they did not have. Stuck with no choice and driven by the pleas of the people, Kiyo was forced to take up the Sword of Mane——the Holy Relic of the Ancient King and master its power.

It was fated by the same ancient scriptures from the prophets that a Chosen Hero would rise and use the Sword of God’s Light to vanquish evil. The priests saw Kiyo as their Chosen Hero and immediately sent him to Jinn’s castle to fight her.

However, as it was stated before, Kiyo was a normal high schooler who knew nothing of magic or even combat. His first meeting with Jinn was one where Kiyo learned that what he had been dragged into was no game…

Puny little human…it seems I need to teach you respect…

The first fight between Kiyo and Jinn was not even really a fight. Even with the Sword of Mane, Kiyo did not have the capabilities to utilize its power. And while the boy struggled, Jinn did nothing but play around with her food. She ruthlessly beat Kiyo and flung him all over the palace with her magic——crashing him into walls and morphing his body.

After an hour of torture, Kiyo was left a broken mess. His pants were soiled by his own bladder and his head to the floor——begging with tears for mercy. Jinn put more salt on the wound as she laughed at the sight of the pitiful boy.

“Is this the Chosen Hero destined to save the world? How laughable! You are not even worth killing!”

Jinn kicked Kiyo away as Arthion, who journeyed with him, came to his aid.

“You are only a Level 1 insect. I don’t where the church found a weakling like you but return from whence you came and never step foot here ever again. If you try this stunt again I may have to keep you here for eternity to punish you~…”

Without looking back, Kiyo and Arthion ran out of the Demon Lord’s domain and returned to the Great Cathedral. Ever since then, Kiyo was filled with bitter shame and turned to the priests and wizards of the church.

“All my life, I have been a coward…hiding behind my family…kneeling in the shadows, hoping for all my problems to go away. But no more! I wasn’t strong enough to beat Jinn but I promise I will be! I won’t let her win! But to do this I need your guys' help! Please help me master the power of this sword! PLEASE——…please help me become the Chosen Hero you believe I am…”

After saying those words, the people regained a bit of faith and trained Kiyo. After a month of learning sword techniques and holy magic, Kiyo and Arthion left the Kingdom of Lydio with Marcus by their side. They went all over Ihari meeting many people and defeating many servants of Jinn. All the adventures and experiences made Kiyo level and become even stronger.

Three months later, the three heroes returned to the Demon Lord’s Castle and the final battle was at hand.

The fight itself lasted for three straight days. And on the third and last day, the Jinn’s palace was in absolute ruins. The ceiling was entirely gone and the walls and floor were covered in cracks and holes. As for the heroes, Marcus had lost his left eye while Arthion’s left leg was broken.

Kiyo had a few broken ribs and lost two of his fingers on his right hand. Even the Sword of Mane was snapped in half. And where was the other half? Impaled within the chest of Jinn.

Lying on the floor with a blade in her chest was the Demon Lord who was looking at the sky gasping and spitting out black blood.

“H-how can this be…?”

Jinn tried to speak loudly, but she was slowly losing strength by just talking.

“How can I lose to such lowly insects like you…? I am Jinn…I am unstoppable…”

“You’re nothing,” Kiyo said between heavy breaths. “Nothing but a selfish conquering. And now you will be going back to Hell where you belong…”

Jinn’s body began to turn to dust, the power of the holy sword was doing its work and slowly eradicating the body of the powerful demon. After letting out a painful cry, Jinn spoke her last words…

“F-Foolish! How so very foolish! I am…THE DEMON LORD! This is MY world! It belongs to me! It has ALWAYS belonged to me! HA HA HA! T-this can’t be…this can’t…I should have killed you…I SHOULD HAVE KILLED YOU BACK THEN——WHEN YOU WERE NOTHING MORE THAN A SNIVELING COWARD WITH PISS IN HIS PANTS!! I…should have…killed you…Kiyo…Hoshi…”

And then the life left her eyes and the corpse of Jinn had vanished into the air. The dark clouds in the skies dispersed and the full light of the sun shined down on the land. Kiyo smiled as he raised his head to the air and took in the rays of the giant star.

We won…

The young hero then could not contain his excitement as he jumped into the air screaming for joy at the top of his lungs.

“WE WON!!”

Behind him were Marcus and Arthion who each had their own reactions. Marcus smiled while Arthion let out tears of pure happiness, quietly thanking God for their victory.

Indeed, on that day near the end of Winter, the war had come to an end and the prophecy was fulfilled. Kiyo Hoshi vanquished the Demon Lord and Ihari was given an era of peace at last.
