Chapter 6:
Salvatore´s School for villains
I felt again. That sense of vertigo that threatened to strip away all that I was and the coldness that unbearable coldness that robbed me of all senses.
I tripped, falling at the side of the table, throwing the tea that had been served to the ground. I hear her scream as I saw her blue eyes, so like mine. As all was take away from me. I was terrified and could see emptiness take all away, in that moment the man who spokes of death so casually was robbed of all words. Yes, I did not wish to die…ever.
And so my eyes opened again and I saw her once more.
My sister, the only I could and see with clearly within this place. She was there when I first died. She was there when I woke up as a new man.
A man who would never die.
“Rise and shine Mr. Kocchar.”
I opened my eyes again, the scorpions poison had failed. It was so nostalgic, its bitter taste. But every poison has always taken something away from me. They have always marked an end and a beginning for me. ¿Where was I now? I saw around me for the familiar sight of a hospital´s sick room, but no one familiar was waiting for me now.
“You got hit with an ugly kind of poison, a snake´s vile spit in resume. Hehe.” A woman with a half burned face laughter, she wore a white doctor´s coat and looked and at a folder clip with glee. The school nurse was finding him rather amusing.
“Your body annihilated every trace of it. You might actually be immortal, makes me want to put it to the test just a little.” She walked with difficulty with her cane in circles around the room.
“I’m simply use to it.” In answered her. That boy ¿What was his name again? The pale boy with glowing purple eyes. He did this to me…honestly why should I even care. I’m fine, death evaded me once more.
“Anyway get dressed, the student council paid all the bills and they of course are expecting you right now.”
¿The student council? I do recall them wishing to meet me, but I had no interest in any of Salvatore´s dog. I suppose I shall meet them in thank, for giving me a place to rest. It is all a matter of proper manners. I will listen to them and only that. The nurse with the cane licked the burned side of her face.
“I´ll be honored to meet them.”
“Yeah, you´re in their debt, little prince, It’s only because of them that I couldn´t have my fun with you just yet. Such a curiosity you are.” She seemed unnerving, but she still looked after me all the same and manners dictate my thanks.
“Thanks for everything ¿Ms?”
“It’s just Dr.Fringe to you. Hope we see each other again little prince.” Looking at her smile I felt the need to never end in this hospital ever again.
Regardless I gave a polite farewell and headed outside through the hospital and onwards to the room she had indicated me to go to. What a strange week it has been. That boy with the purple eyes attacked me without purpose and succeeded in killing me, I underestimated him. That is all, my sinful arrogance made me fall once more. I can only blame myself for that. It’s his victory and I hold him in no contempt.
Still if he appears in front of me once more. I will not hold back, I´ll let the world see me at my worst as I did so long ago. A Kocchar does not forgive twice, in any event I will forget him for now, because the very student council is asking for me and they are not the sort you can avert your eyes from with ease.
I reached the student council headquarters, the elegant little manor that stood on the way to class. It was even more beautiful from its inside with an inner garden at the center displaying an impeccable care and a relaxing freshness to all of its surroundings. A sight like this can avert once eyes from the weight this building holds. Beauty itself is a showcase of power after all; it all reminds me of home. It’s all a matter of proper manners to not show once power carelessly I abide by this rules as well.
I was kindly guided by the receptionist to the council´s lounge. The woman gave a bow and opened a huge white door adorned with the golden head of a bull at its center.
“The vice-president awaits you, your highness Kocchar”
¿Highness? They should know better than to flatter me.
I stepped into a circular wood of brown wood wall, with longs windows door allowing for a marvelous view of the islands’ natural jungle. They were bookcases and a turned of fire watch. But the decoration most becoming of them all was a portrait of the school council president herself. She was quite something to look at with that brown skin and luscious black hair. Yes, it resembles her somewhat…. I cleared such thought of my mind; this was not the time for any distraction.
“Welcome, Mister Immortal. Please don´t be shy and take a sit.”
At the center of the room sitting on an elegant white table, the vice president Jeanne Weiss gave me they´re welcome. This person was quite famous thought the school in particular due to self- made robotic arms plated in gold that they displayed quite proudly. Jeanne wore a purple sleeveless dress and a fancy small black hat to the left side of their head. Still one could not look at Jeanne as dangerous. The vice president reputation showed they were quite something back in the day. Quite a violent crook I´ll if any of those says are true, but its gentle appearance
“Have some tea; I would want to have a word with you, if I could.” With grace Jeanne served the tea using his shining metallic arms. The finger tips did with such nimbleness. It was not crude at all, those arms, were quite perfect to kill a man. They had a feminine appearance but with a rather butch hair and physique, so I would not assume their gender as that would be beyond rude.
There was someone else on the room, but that person was simply sitting legs crossed on a desk near the window and didn´t seem to pay us any mind and just remained there underneath a white cape that obscured everything but their vague silhouette, such poor manners.
“I´m honored for the assistance, but if it’s not to rude of my part, I would like to know why I was summoned to this place. If you don´t mind me asking.”
“You are all business then, relax a bit. I Jeanne Weiss would like to offer you a proposition. Mr. Kocchar, would you like to join our student council.” Jeanne smiled as they place both shinning metallic arms under they´re chin resting their elbows upon the table. That was a smile befitting a fox.
¿The student council?
This was very far from the many scenarios I had imagined. I was quite sure I´ll be ending on a lab somewhere to tell the truth…no, it is far too soon to think that will not be the case. Every offer comes with a prize; if I’m offered to raise the ladder of this school it is simply that they see me as something useful for their cause.
¿Is it worth it to be used by them? It is the dance of the court, a trickery of kindness and sweet lies, if so;
¿Do I really wish to dance it once more?
“¿Me? I don´t remember doing anything to get your attention.” I took hold of the cup of tea and took a sip ensuring I look as fresh as the islands winds.
“No need to be shy, just look at you. A real immortal, more than that, you seem to have quite the reputation as a terrifying man, but not a foolish one. The council appreciates villains that can act with proper manners and understands the politics that surround us.
“That fits me fine. I was born both into politics and proper manners.”- And villainy of the most inhumane of sorts, but I´m not sure I want to be in a place that is… so much like home…yet if I play my cards right…
“I accept the offer, I´ll be on your care henceforth.” I ensure to say it with as little concern as possible, because I had no real excitement for it. Jeanne clapped they´re hands in celebration.
“Splendid. ¿Ms. Galatea, have you any objections?”
Jeanne turned they´re head back to the person sitting on the desk at the end of the room. She took of her mantle and turned back to look at me. She was a young black woman with carefully braided black hair dress on bright blue cyan dress with a white cape over it. Through she looked in my direction her eyes where covered with a white bandana, she raised her right hand that till now had hidden a wooden staff, and pointed at me with it.
“As I have spoken, the scorned prince will complete us.”
“¿Scorned?” As I thought, she was rather rude.
“She Is Galatea the president´s advisor and quite the fortuneteller.” Jeanne said with such pride you will think they refereed to themselves.
“But our future remains uncertain all the same. The student council´s final shield. ¿To which side, will it look to? ¿Who will it, protect at the end?” She tapped the desk with her staff giving us her back again.
“Hahaha such a silly sight I have seen , anyway glad to finally have you here. Let us hope to be friends soon enough.” Galatea laughed a little before remaining in total silence.
“She is a little bit shy and the weird visions make her talk strange sometime, but when lucid she is quite the fine lady.” Jeanne didn´t seem bothered by her behavior I suppose I should not let it bother me either…Strange I never hear of such a person among the student council. ¿A fortune teller? Somehow I cannot imagine this little group being superstitious. If so she might just be the real thing… A scary thought.
“That does it, now all that is needed is for the final words from…”
The door to the lounge was opened suddenly opened and the very woman from the portrait stepped in. Indeed the woman had a presence, wearing that formal green military attire. Her eyes cold and yet serene, green eyes. I find it hard to be afraid of her by her stature…but I know better.
“Yes, our beautiful president, may I present you Miss Domina Salvatore.” Jeanne said with a bow.” She ignored them to look at me. This was Salvatore’s daughter… in the flesh… It was somehow hard to believe it.
“I´m very sorry I got a bit distracted, talking with ah rather obnoxious dog. I’m glad you accepted my invitation, Mr. Naga Kocchar, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” – She reached her gloved hand to me with a rather embarrassed smile, if that smile was a fake one, it was very well made. I should return her a fake smile that’s just as warm, it’s all in the name of proper manners.
“You´re really living up to your reputation, standing to that poison was no simple feat. Now, before we made your recruitment official.” She took a sit opposite of me and the Vice president served her tea in cue.
“About the boy who almost killed you. ¿What could you tell me about him?”
That boy…¿What was his name again? Looking at president Domina, her eyes betrayed that this question had quite the weight to it. ¿Did I encountered someone important? The unnerving fear I felt back then, was once more crawling through my skin. I could remember that moment again, if I did not kill that boy I will surely die that was the impression he gave me and It did happen.
That is what I thought. Even if dead has lost its meaning to me. I suddenly feel two very cold hands fall upon my shoulders.
“We expect honestly here, so we will soon share with you our many secrets, and our student council´s raison d'être.” Jeanne held me in place with rather excessive force; they have walked quietly behind me and placed their arms over my shoulders.
I understood, we will share each other´s secrets, betrayal is akin to death. It matters me not, I felt that if I did not tell this to someone, it will break sooner or later.
“A purple demons eye…glowing purple…eye; Staring into my very soul.” I felt it so clearly, as if I had been left naked and afraid upon my crib once more. Made my instincts go into frenzy. I had to kill him, shatter him, absolutely and thoroughly.
“President.” Jeanne´s arms released me. There was much concern in Jeanne´s tender voice.
“I see… in that case. ¿Mr. Naga could you confirm to me if this is the glow you saw?”
Mr. Domina Salvatore put her gloved fingers to her temple; she closed her eyes and opened them once more. And I saw it, both of her pupil glowed in a bright violent purple. I instinctively rise to my feet, throwing my tea upon the floor in the panic.
“Yes those are the eyes I saw.” Eyes that absolutely had to be destroyed. Domina closed her eyes once more, tapping her forehead in thought.
“We will surely need to keep an eye on Mr. Maximillian.” She sighed again in a rather inelegant way.
“What a pain.” She declared.
