Chapter 23:
Synthetic Smiles
Chapter 23: The Great Uprising
As Camille stepped onto the battlefield, she felt the hesitant gazes of her soldiers behind her. Up front, there were a few brave soldiers and a leader with a strong will, but her emotions were complex. On one hand, she dreamed of victory, but on the other, she knew it would not come easily. The contradictions around her, the brutal realities of war, reminded her how cautious she needed to be.
Camille’s Perspective:
Although her eyes reflected the losses she had left behind and the fears of war, Camille deep down believed that victory was hers to claim. But at what cost? The first moments of the war were filled with difficulty for Camille. Many of the soldiers were new and inexperienced. Their shields and armor were often improperly fitted, and their ammunition was limited. While the enemy had advanced technological weapons, the rebels were reliant on swords and shields. After a few advances, their morale would quickly falter. However, at this moment, Camille knew she had to see the enemy, understand every weakness. War was a psychological game, and she knew the best strategy was to retreat until she made her best move.
Despite the calm expression on her face, Camille was boiling inside. As a leader, she had to hide her own power to encourage the soldiers behind her. The enemy would advance, thinking her weak. And that was her plan. Camille would deliberately appear weak, analyzing the enemy’s weaknesses and retreating strategically.
When the enemy began to advance, Camille had only one goal: to pull them deeper into the battlefield. Accepting the first losses would demoralize her army, but Camille knew it was the only way to find the right timing.
Luca’s Perspective:
Watching the course of the war unfold, Luca moved silently. Camille’s army was suffering deadly losses, but Luca’s plan was entirely different. He was exploiting the enemy’s weaknesses, eliminating key businessmen from Magnus’s side one by one. Moving secretly, he erased them without leaving a trace.
Each death brought more confidence. Each businessman killed was one step closer. But Luca felt an unease about what he would do in the end. Magnus’s victory, or Camille’s plan—what was more valuable to him? But Luca’s eyes weren’t solely focused on the battlefield. The strategic part of the war was within Magnus’s power structure. His losses were a much bigger part of the war. As the businessmen were killed, Magnus’s foundation crumbled. Luca, without haste but with cold calculation, was patiently setting up his move to strike a significant internal blow against Magnus.
The sight of Camille’s army looking weak was an opportunity for Luca. He was noticing that everyone on Magnus’s side was quietly walking toward their death in the unseen part of the war. On one hand, he was fighting for Camille’s victory, and on the other, he was executing his own plan to the letter.
But at that moment, he encountered a problem. Someone appeared to stop him. SARAH. Sarah’s eyes reminded Luca not of a threat, but of a loss. Once they had been allies, now they were enemies. Luca knew that something had always been off about her. She wasn’t like a typical employee. Now that she was here to stop him, she was someone with battle experience. Luca and Sarah analyzed each other. Luca’s time was running out. He struck suddenly, and the battle between them began.
Selena’s Perspective:
Selena was like a ghost on the battlefield. Moving without being seen, she shaped the war, but every step felt like a burden. Her fight for Camille’s victory grew heavier with every passing minute. Moving in the background, she was aware of every detail. Her job was to detect the enemy from a high point and help Camille’s army set up ambushes. She was everywhere, serving Camille’s plan on one side while supplying information to Luca on the other.
As Camille’s soldiers fell one by one, Selena watched for the critical moments that would turn the tide of the battle. Moving silently, every bit of information she gathered was crucial for Camille’s victory. One by one, she marked the enemy’s weaknesses, where they were hiding, and reported them to Camille’s commanders.
When she located the enemy’s position, Selena would immediately inform Camille, providing valuable information for the retreating units. She was guiding the other side of the war without ever being seen. This was a great help for Camille, as the information Selena provided made it easier to trap the enemy.
The Beginning of the Battle:
At the start of the battle, Camille stood at the front with an army that was weak and inexperienced. The enemy thought they could easily defeat her, advancing confidently with each attack. Camille’s side was suffering more losses by the second, but those losses were part of the plan. As the enemy advanced, Camille could see how her army needed to move. Each loss seemed to strengthen the enemy, but in fact, it created a weakness within their ranks.
By the middle of the battle, Camille’s soldiers had drawn the enemy deeper. Her plan had started to take shape. Thanks to Dr. Selene Myr, the soldiers had received weapon support. The businessmen Luca had killed had weakened Magnus’s power. Selena’s information had opened up new opportunities for Camille to make key moves. Camille had lured the enemy into a trap. Now, with perfect timing, she was preparing to strike the final blow.
The first losses at the beginning of the battle may have seemed like a risk for Camille’s side, but they were actually the beginning of a victory. The enemy had been pulled too deep, and Camille, confident that everything was going according to plan, was preparing the final blow.
Was this victory certain? Would Magnus, known for his intelligence, be defeated? The blow to his ego had harmed him greatly. He had been weakened by blows from those he trusted the most. But he wouldn’t give up so easily.
