Chapter 2:
Rowan Fox and the twelve Law of Betrayal
A nation that thrives, a nation that grows depends on the cooperation of our elite. Power is intoxicating. When you give a poor man power, make sure to seize his hand.
It wasn't the same case with the Empress. She had the intention of letting her subjects exercise their willpower and freedom. The first one year had been a smooth ride, and yet she forgets the fact that her father had enemies. Those enemies had watched the world crumpled. They've watched the world Laid in its devastation. Those enemies have fought against the rise of Astorian Empire. Yet, the Empress failed to recognize that maybe those enemies lay within. She was what we call the definition of a loose Empress, free to all.
It was a beautiful Saturday. Empress Rowan Fox was in the Imperial garden to commune with the great spirit and the watchers, as the tradition of her father was. Empress Fox didn't think much that what would occur on that day would bring a fatal blow to the fate of the empire. While she was in the garden, Lord Lyon, who was once the kingdom's trusted advisor, had plotted to take over the throne, to impose himself emperor.
She was in the garden with the priestess Eldoria and some servants. A large white blanket made of fur was spread on the ground. The princess sat down. Candles were lit, and Eldoria began the enchantment of communion. It didn't take long when the watcher appeared and sat in front of her, Empress. And the great spirit beyond sounded.
It spoke to her of her previous mistakes and warned the Empress of the impending danger, the plans that had long gone on even before her father died. Lord Lyon had plotted. He had recruited young men trained as assassins to eliminate whatever would stand in his way as he will ascend and impose himself king over the people. The spirit from the great beyond told her to look at every one of her ancestors. Each of them had played their roles to see that the service of this kingdom was a success. Each of them had laid their lives. They proceeded to come, the watchers, watching over her actions. If she fails to remedy the situation, then she fails the watchers who are as well her ancestors.
