Chapter 0:

Moonlit Dreams

Feathers In The Light

"CAW, CAW, CAW!"

A crow as dark as the night flocks from it's seat on the telephone wire, and like a signal to the other crows the entire flock flaps their wings into the sky and catches the wind up toward the ocean.

Atop the roof of a high rise skyscraper in bay side California, the cool evening wind blows violently . It's 1 o'clock in the morning, the moon is nearly coinciding with perigee, and the ocean just below stretches out in sparkles -- as if reacting with the moonlight.

A man who looks to be in his late 30s scans the horizon as he ties his long, sleek gray hair up into a ponytail. As the moonlight reflects off the tensioned strands of hair he takes in a breath so steady it blends in with the wind which has by now died down.

He raises both of his hands parallel to the roof of the skyscraper and in lets the weight of his body tip over the edge of the building and dives head-first into a free-fall down the side. He sees his reflection barreling down at an alarming speed, and yet his face remains calm to the point of insanity.

He flips in the air vertically to face the ocean and only then does his eyes glow the same shade of white as his hair and the bright full moon. The blood in his veins glow a luminescent pale blue as a spot on his back in-between the latissimus dorsi and in the middle of his spine begins to shine with a flash of brilliant pale blue light. Like a star in the dark veil of night, a pair of pale, feathered wings burst out from the spot on his back and pull him upwards like a parachute.

With one swing of his wings the man shoots up into the air like being catapulted, and with another boom he launches himself westward towards the pacific ocean, splitting across the wind at a dizzying speed. The air around him screams as the sound barrier breaks over the distant ocean, where no ears could be reached.

"I guess it's time for the Agent of Moonlight to pay visit to the Light of Leaves. The west has gotten quite dreary."

His destination: Asia.
