Chapter 36:
Ascension of the Void Monarch
The portal ripped wider, spewing waves of abyssal energy that crashed into the ruined battlefield. The Abyssforged warriors staggered back, their once-fearless eyes now filled with dread.
From within the darkness, a voice rumbled like distant thunder.
"You dare disturb the balance?"
A monstrous hand emerged first—jet-black, clawed, and pulsing with veins of crimson energy. The ground beneath it cracked, unable to bear the sheer weight of its existence. Then came its form—towering, ancient, and draped in abyssal mist.
Abyssal Lord Harbinger.
One of Nyx’s strongest enforcers.
Sylas froze. Even he—a warrior who had survived the fall of the old world—felt his instincts scream at him to flee.
Ren, however, didn’t move.
His eyes locked onto the entity, the weight of its presence pressing against his very soul.
But he did not bow.
Veyron, still on his knees, let out a weak chuckle. “You… never understood the true depth of the Abyss, did you?” His eyes gleamed with bitter satisfaction. “Now you will.”
Harbinger’s gaze fell upon Ren.
"A vessel unchained… A monarch yet incomplete… The Abyss calls for you."
Ren’s expression hardened.
He clenched his fists, the Void Monarch System surging within him.
[ALERT: HIGH-TIER ABYSSAL PRESENCE DETECTED.]
[SYSTEM RESTRICTIONS—OVERRIDDEN.]
A surge of black lightning crackled around him, his very existence rejecting the Abyssal Lord’s dominion.
“I don’t care who you are,” Ren said, voice steady. “If you serve Nyx… you die here.”
Harbinger tilted its massive head. Then, in an instant—
It moved.
The air exploded.
Ren barely had time to react as the Abyssal Lord swung a claw the size of a building at him. He twisted, barely evading as the force of the attack obliterated the ground where he stood.
Too fast. Too strong.
Ren’s mind raced. This wasn’t just an enemy. This was a force of nature.
But that didn’t mean it couldn’t be killed.
Ren dashed forward, channeling the abyssal energy within him. His hand extended—Void Chains lashed out, aiming to bind Harbinger’s limbs.
They shattered on contact.
The Abyssal Lord let out a low growl. “Weak.”
Ren had no time to react as a wave of abyssal mist surged toward him.
The moment it touched his skin—agony.
A foreign force tried to consume him, corrupt him, bend him to the will of the Abyss.
His vision blurred.
The whispers in his mind—louder.
But before they could take hold—
A pulse erupted from deep within him.
The mist was repelled.
Ren’s eyes snapped open, burning with newfound power.
Harbinger’s gaze narrowed. “So, you resist.”
Ren exhaled.
His grip on the Void tightened.
"I don’t resist. I conquer."
And with that, he launched himself at the Abyssal Lord.
The real battle had begun.
