Chapter 6

"FOR OPENING REMARKS, LET US WELCOME THE PRINCIPAL OF MONTERO SCHOOL! MR. DOMINIC!! THE FLOOR IS YOURS," shouts Mr. Satoshi.

"Hey, Petra. Did you know that Principal Dominic is very strong? I heard the story from my father. He said Principal Dominic's aura power is the third strongest in the world, but he decided not to fight anymore or use his power," says Dominggus.

"Huh? Really? Why didn't he just become a Zodiac member, then? Shouldn't that much power be used to fight demons?"

"What for? Our place is very safe. We're in the center of the city. The security is very tight. There's no way a demon can get in here," replies Daniel.

"Right. After all, the Zodiacs' headquarters is nearby. The demons can be killed directly by Zodiac members," says Dominggus.

"That's true, but I wonder why he doesn't want to fight using his powers anymore?"

"I don't know either. My father didn't tell me the reason," replies Dominggus.

Mr. Dominic is the 3rd strongest in the world? That's amazing. The aura power he possesses must be enormous.

"Mr. Dominic seems very kind and soft-spoken, but it turns out he has tremendous power."

"Yes. At first, I didn't expect it either. After my father told me about him, I was also surprised to learn that he was so strong," says Dominggus.

"We're grateful to have a principal who's tough and strong," says Daniel.

"That's right," says Dominggus.

"OKAY! THANK YOU FOR THE SHORT WELCOME SPEECH, MR. DOMINIC! NOW IS THE MOMENT WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! THE SPARRING MATCH BETWEEN MONTERO SCHOOL AND SALVADOR SCHOOL!! I HAVE EXPLAINED THE RULES! THE MATCH WILL BE STOPPED IF ONE OF THE PARTICIPANTS FAINTS OR SURRENDERS OR LEAVES THE ARENA! IF THE PARTICIPANT HAS SURRENDERED, THEY CANNOT BE ATTACKED AGAIN!! ANY WEAPON CAN BE USED!! THE TIME OF EACH MATCH IS 10 MINUTES!! AFTER 10 MINUTES, THE RESULT WILL BE DETERMINED BY HIT POINTS!! IF YOU'RE READY, PLEASE COME FORWARD!! DARIUS AND MARVEUS!!" shouts Mr. Satoshi.

"The time has finally come. I'll destroy that brat!" mutters Darius.

"Did you hear that? That kid's completely out of his mind! He's always saying rude things," says Daniel.

"Let him be. Mr. Satoshi and Mr. Dominic are here. I think everything will be fine."

The first match is between Darius and Marveus. According to last month's records, Darius' aura power is 25k and Marveus' is 23k. Looks like the match will be exciting.

Darius and Marveus have entered the arena. They go to their respective sides.

"I've told you the rules. Fight with sportsmanship. Do you both understand?" asks Mr. Satoshi.

"I understand," says Marveus.

"Of course. I'll finish him off!" says Darius.

"Alright. Let the match begins!!" says Mr. Satoshi.

"Sandstorm!! Get lost, you brat!" says Darius.

Darius immediately attacks, creating a huge sand tornado and throwing it at Marveus.

"That's amazing! His strength is far different from mine!" says Daniel.

"Ice Shield!!" says Marveus.

Marveus creates an ice shield covering his body like a cocoon.

"Haha. Little ant, how long are you going to hide? I'll finish you off with one strike! Meteor Storm!" says Darius.

Darius lifts all the sand in the arena. He shapes it into a large rock and throws it at Marveus.

"Looks like a fight to the death to me. Horrible!" says Daniel.

"Isn't that dangerous?! Why didn't Mr. Satoshi stop the fight?" says Dominggus.

"I think Mr. Satoshi knows that Marveus can endure it."

Marveus is still defending with his ice shield, while Darius continues to attack him with full force. His shield is indestructible. The strength of his shield amazes everyone.

A few moments later, Darius stops his attacks.

"Hey! How long will you keep hiding, you coward?!" says Darius.

Marveus opens his shield slightly at the face.

"You talk too much! Your attacks can't penetrate my ice shield at all. You're weak!!" says Marveus.

"What did you say? I won't hold back anymore!! Arrggh! Wave Storm!! You're dead!" snaps Darius.

Darius unleashes all his power, making the ground trembles.

Darius creates sand waves with great power. He spends all his strength on that attack.

"This fight is really scary!" says Daniel.

"Darius was genuinely provoked by Marveus' words. This fight truly is terrifying," says Dominggus.

Marveus counterattacks Darius directly.

"Ice Blade!! Relish this pain!" says Marveus.

Unexpectedly, Darius' huge waves of sand are broken into smaller waves by Marveus' attack. Marveus throws a large number of ice blades at him.

Darius promptly makes a safeguard to block the ice blades.

"Great Wall!! Huh! You think an attack like that can defeat me?!" says Darius.

The ice blades attack pierces through Darius' sand wall. However, it doesn't hurt him at all.

"Your tiny blades won't hurt me, brat!!" shouts Darius.

Suddenly, the ground in the arena shakes.

A huge sword appears from underneath Darius and stabs him.

"Great Kusanagi!! This fight is over!" says Marveus.

Darius is thrown out of the arena.

This means that Marveus has won the match. The silence turns into cheers for him.

"You bastard! I haven't lost yet!!" shouts Darius.

Darius walks into the arena, even though he has been badly injured after Marveus' attacks. However, Mr. Satoshi stops him.

"Darius, your match is over. There are winners and losers in every match. I know you still want to fight and fight again, but not this time! You must heal your wounds first and train even harder to defeat him," says Mr. Satoshi.

"Arrghhh... Alright. Thank you, Mr. Satoshi," says Darius.

Not long after, Darius faints. He's taken to the infirmary for treatment at once. His wound is quite large, but not life-threatening.

Mr. Satoshi approaches Marveus.

"Alright. The winner of this sparring match is Marveus!" says Mr. Satoshi.

Marveus bows.

"Thank you for the opportunity. I can honestly say that Darius is very strong. I was just lucky to beat him," says Marveus.

"Did you see that attack, Petra?! Marveus is on a different level than us!" says Daniel.

"That's right, the Kusanagi sword!! In Japanese mythology, it's one of the most powerful swords ever!" says Dominggus.

That kid doesn't look scary to me. However, to be honest, the power he showed just now was truly incredible!

"Hey, you two. I'm leaving."

"Where are you going, Petra?! Our fight is about to begin!" shouts Dominggus.

"Fight on, you two!"

Worried, I go to see how Darius is doing in the infirmary. 'Cause after all, he's my friend.

Passing through the school hallway and heading toward the infirmary, I see Marveus from a distance talking to someone wearing a black cloak and hood in the corner of the room.

Out of curiosity, I try to approach them.

That person looks very suspicious. How could such a mysterious person enter this place?

Suddenly, a hand taps my shoulder.

"Hey, Petra. What are you doing here?" asks Ms. Renata.

"Ah... You just surprised me."

"Are you worried about Darius?" asks Ms. Renata.

"Ah... No. For what? I just want to make sure that he gets what he deserves for his arrogance."

"After all, Darius is your friend. You should help each other and care for each other," says Ms. Renata.

"Okay, Miss. I understand."

I was distracted. When I turn around, Marveus and the mysterious person have disappeared.

Alright, then. I'm going to tell Mr. Satoshi that Darius is fine.

"Okay, Miss. I'll go to the restroom and then watch Daniel and Dominggus' match."

After Ms. Renata leaves, I wonder. Who exactly was that mysterious person? What were Marveus and the mysterious person talking about? Were they planning something bad? Do I have to tell Mr. Satoshi? Does Ms. Renata know?
