Chapter 5:
Beyblade : Dark Side of Emperor
The stones of the temple still bore the marks of the battle between Ryuga and Dynamis. Scratches, collapses, and clouds of dust were silent witnesses to the recent clash. Ryuga held the Nightmare L-Drago in his hand, his cold gaze fixed on Dynamis. Kenta stood at the side, trying to regulate his breath. Dynamis took hold of Jade Jupiter, a calm yet deep expression forming in his eyes. He tilted his head slightly, his long purple hair flowing in the wind. His voice rose, echoing through the temple stones.
"The will of the heavens, this knowledge is preserved," he said, his voice serene but authoritative. "But you, the Legendary Blader of the Summer Constellation... with your power, you have unlocked a door. Listen then, as I tell you of the origin of the star particles and the Legendary Bladers."
Ryuga grimaced, clearly dissatisfied with the situation, but he remained silent. Dynamis' voice continued, heavy and mysterious, as if reading an ancient inscription.
"Long ago, in the heavens, there existed a divine being known as the Great Star. This star was filled with pure energy and held the power to maintain the balance of the universe. However, one day, the star exploded in a great blast and fell from the sky to the earth. With this explosion, Star Particles spread across the world. These particles determined the fate of the most powerful Bladers in the Beyblade world. Those who possessed them became extraordinary Bladers and went down in history as the 'Legendary Bladers.'"
Dynamis paused for a moment, his eyes drifting toward the dark corners of the temple.
"However, the power of the Star Fragments was not used only for good. With the explosion of the Great Star, its dark energy also spread across the world, and this energy gave birth to Nemesis, the God of Darkness. Nemesis became a disastrous being, bent on destroying humanity and ruling the world. Dark cults that worshiped him and sought to use his power transformed Nemesis into a Beyblade form. But Nemesis' power was so great that it nearly plunged the world into chaos..."
"...To stop this threat, the first Legendary Bladers, chosen by the Star Fragments, came together. The Legendary Bladers, using the pure energy of the star, fought against Nemesis. This great battle went down in history as the 'First Great War.' After days of fighting, the Legendary Bladers managed to unite their power and seal Nemesis. Nemesis' Beyblade form was buried deep within the earth and sealed away so it could never awaken again," he continued, his tone growing more serious.
"Recently, star fragments returned to the world. Using the power passed down through my ancestors for generations, I scattered the star particles from the palace with a light. Five of the ten particles went to the descendants of the Legendary Bladers and Nemesis' descendants."
Ryuga immediately asked, "What happened to the remaining four particles?"
Dynamis calmly continued his explanation.
"Four particles went to four people who possess the Four Seasons Constellation Beys. The Four Seasons Legendary Bladers—Summer, Winter, Spring, and Autumn—draw their power from the constellations in the sky. The Summer Blader masters fire and willpower; the Winter Blader, cold and endurance; the Spring Blader, renewal and speed; and the Autumn Blader symbolizes balance and strategy. These Bladers are tasked with keeping Nemesis in slumber. However, evil forces are after you, trying to use the power of the good to awaken him," he finished the story.
He looked at Ryuga, a definitive tone in his voice.
"L-Drago comes from the summer constellation Draco. But beware—you carry a danger more dangerous than the shadow of Nemesis."
Ryuga let out a cold laugh.
"A dark god, huh?" he said, his voice dripping with contempt. "L-Drago moves by my will, not by fairy tales."
Dynamis narrowed his eyes, his voice turning more serious.
"Nemesis is a power that even the first Bladers struggled to seal. The representatives of five planets confronted him with ancient Beyblades—each one representing a facet of the star particles. Their legacy has been passed down to their descendants and the Four Seasons Bladers. But you... you are dancing on the edge of darkness."
Ryuga paused for a moment, weighing Dynamis' words. Then, a challenge rose in his voice.
"Where are these Bladers?" he asked, his tone sharp and commanding. "And Nemesis... how powerful is he?"
Dynamis tilted his head slightly.
"The Legendary Bladers must gather," he said, his voice wise. "Finding each other is a test of fate. As for Nemesis' power... it is a destruction that even the first Bladers feared. However, with the power of the Four Seasons Bladers, Nemesis was sealed years ago, and with the Seal of Zeus protecting it, Nemesis can be stopped."
A cold smile spread across Ryuga’s lips.
"Hahahah! A seal? Zeus? Really just empty talk," he said, his voice filled with ambition and resolve. "I can stop this so-called god on my own, without the need for any of that. But taking the power of others isn’t a bad idea either. I’ll prove to everyone that I am the strongest in this world and unrivaled!"
Kenta stepped forward, his voice urgent. "Ryuga, what are you doing?!" he shouted, stubborn yet worried.
"You need to join Gingka, don’t make an enemy of him, Ryuga! Please, join us! Nemesis is a serious threat!"
Ryuga shot him a cold look.
"I don’t deal with weaklings, kid," he said, his voice threatening. He placed L-Drago into the power band on his arm and turned to leave the temple.
Dynamis said, "The will of the heavens will follow your path," his voice calm and accepting.
Kenta followed him, shouting, "Ryuga, wait! You can help Gingka!" But Ryuga quickened his pace.
Ryuga had left the temple and was heading deep into the forest. As the sun shifted west, the shadows of the trees began to stretch. L-Drago's energy gave him a sense of direction—a pull he didn't understand. His steps were firm, and Dynamis's words kept echoing in his mind: Legendary Bladers... Nemesis... A cold smile spread across his lips. I'll defeat them all, he thought, his eyes glowing.
Kenta was still behind him, running out of breath. "Ryuga, wait!" he shouted, his voice stubborn and full of hope. "You have to join us!"
Ryuga didn't even look back, only muttering, "Stop talking nonsense," his tone harsh.
Kenta stumbled, crashing into a tree root, but he didn't give up. "Your power is incredible, Ryuga! Help us!"
For a moment, Ryuga stopped and gave Kenta a cold look. "I don't need you, kid," he said, his voice laced with mockery. He began walking again, and Kenta kept chasing him.
The forest thickened, branches scratched at his face, but Kenta didn't stop. "I'll take you to Gingka!" he yelled, his voice full of determination.
"You’ll be convinced, I know it!"
Ryuga didn't respond, his steps leading him toward rocky terrain.
Hours passed. The sun set, and the stars appeared in the sky. Ryuga stopped in a clearing, starting a fire with branches he had gathered. As the flames rose, he leaned against a rock, cleaning L-Drago.
Kenta stood a little further away, his stomach growling with hunger. "Ah... I'm so hungry..." he mumbled, looking around.
He searched the trees for fruit, moving the branches, but found nothing. Exhausted, he walked over to Ryuga's fire and sat down on the ground.
Ryuga didn't look at him, his eyes fixed on the flames. Kenta took a deep breath, his voice still filled with hope.
"Ryuga... I understand you don't want to join Gingka," he said, his tone tired but persistent.
"But I’ll convince you somehow! I’ll make you take me seriously, Ryuga!"
Ryuga laughed coldly and turned his head slightly.
"You’re wasting your effort, kid," he said, his voice dripping with contempt. "Get lost."
Kenta clenched his fists. "No, Ryuga, please help us!" he shouted, his voice shaking but determined.
"I can take you with me! With your power, we can save the world!"
Ryuga didn't answer, continuing to stare at the fire.
Night had fallen. Kenta fell silent, but his eyes drifted to the small bag next to Ryuga—inside it were some dry bread and a bit of meat. His hunger gnawed at him.
The night passed. Ryuga closed his eyes, appearing to sleep. Kenta slowly reached for the bag, his fingers brushing the bread. But at that moment, Ryuga’s aura exploded—an energy wave of black and purple surged.
Kenta was thrown back with a scream, his back hitting a tree. "Ahh!" he gasped, his breath stolen.
Ryuga suddenly turned to him, giving Kenta a terrifying glare. He didn’t speak, but his eyes and the silhouette of L-Drago filled Kenta with fear.
Kenta got up, his face a mix of fear and determination. "I... I’m sorry," he stammered, his voice trembling.
Ryuga studied him, a fleeting glint of something else—potential—in his eyes. Ryuga calmly looked at Kenta.
"Hey, maybe I need to train you to become stronger," Ryuga decided, choosing Kenta as his companion.
Kenta’s eyes widened in shock. "What?!" he exclaimed, his voice full of disbelief.
Ryuga’s gaze grew even more intense, his eyes piercing through Kenta.
"You’ve been following me, begging like a weak dog," he said, his tone harsh.
"But this stubbornness... it could mean something. I want to observe you. If your abilities are good enough, you can develop them. It’s normal for you to be crushed alongside Gingka and the others. You shouldn’t be dealing with fools who don’t understand Beyblade. But my power—the dark power—can teach you something real. It will teach you how to fight and how to be a strong Blader. I’ll train you, because I’m curious what your weakness will become. Maybe one day, you’ll rise to stand against L-Drago. But know this: this training will either break you or rebuild you. If you stay weak, you’ll vanish."
Kenta held his breath, staring at Ryuga. Ryuga continued, his voice filled with challenge.
"After or during the training, whenever you feel ready, you can fight me. But if you want me to take you seriously, prove your power. Weaklings can’t stand beside me."
Kenta was speechless, still in shock, but he couldn’t reject the offer. He could develop his jealousy toward Gingka and the others and his desire to be strong with someone like Ryuga.
"I’ll do it! Train me, Ryuga! I want to be like you. I want to be really strong. That way, I can help Gingka and the others, and you’ll take me seriously."
Ryuga took a piece of bread from the bag and threw it to Kenta. "Eat," he said, his tone firm.
"But if you try to steal from me again, you won’t get off so easily."
Kenta caught the bread, his eyes filled with both fear and determination. It felt as if everything that had happened was leading him toward success. He was getting closer. He would work with Ryuga.
Ryuga returned to the fire, his eyes drifting to the stars. He was thinking about the threat of Nemesis. Could he defeat it? He knew he would have to fight it. To do so, he had to grow stronger. Now was the time to take this seriously.
