Chapter 30:
In the Dark World, with the Light of You
Ken sat surrounded by the girls, who watched the photos on his phone with uncontained excitement. He had managed to save a few pictures from his world - photos of friends, family, and funny moments from school life. Each picture sparked more awe and wonder, especially when they saw images of his hometown and his friends.
“Oh, Ken, take a picture of us too!” Kiki exclaimed enthusiastically, bouncing slightly in place. Her eyes sparkled, and it was clear she wanted a piece of the “magic” she saw on the screen.
Smiling, Ken lifted his phone and switched it to camera mode, pointing it at Kiki and Julie.
“All right, smile!” he announced, and both girls, settling into place, broke into bright, happy grins. Ken snapped a few photos, then showed them the results.
“Wow, that’s amazing!” Kiki stared at the photo with wide-eyed wonder, as if she couldn’t believe that was really her on the screen. “Now let’s take one all together!”
Ken raised the phone to take a picture of all three of them. Kiki wrapped an arm around his shoulder, and Julie shyly scooted in from the other side, peeking at the screen, trying not to fall behind her sister. Click! - the photo was taken, and the girls immediately reached for the phone to see it.
“Aww, that’s adorable!” Kiki exclaimed, gazing at the picture in delight. Julie nodded bashfully, but her eyes were glowing with happiness.
At that moment, Rudolf and Anna returned to the room. Seeing them, Lily stood and walked over to Ken, giving him a look that it was time to say goodbye.
“It’s time to go, Ken,” she said quietly, nodding toward the door.
But Kiki wasn’t ready to let him go so easily. She marched over to Ken, grabbed his hand, and declared:
“No, you’re not going anywhere! I’m not letting you leave, Ken!” she said mischievously, her eyes sparkling with determination. “I’ve decided - you’re my fiancé, and you have to marry me!”
Everyone in the room froze in shock, unable to believe what they just heard - but the situation became even more chaotic when Julie, blushing bright red, suddenly stepped up to Ken as well, firmly grabbing his other hand.
“No, Ken… you have to marry me,” she said quietly, but with unmistakable resolve.
Silence filled the room.
