Chapter 1:
So I'm evil. Your point?
There are always two sides to every story: good and evil, the innocent and the guilty, right and wrong, and peace and chaos. However, what happens when you get someone stuck in the middle of the two? Someone who's evil but not that evil and someone good but not that good. Well, that's where we get our little Kurumi. A teen forgotten by her family and peers and someone whose only reason to live is to have a nice, comfortable life with everything she wants. If given the opportunity to get the things she wants, she would go as far as destroying the world. The inverse is also true, which is why she is such a troublesome teen. However, she is the perfect person to become an evil one. I'm getting excited to see what chaos she will bring and how she will deal with the magical girls. "O little bear, come here." A small black stuffed bear approaches me from the darkness.
"I have a name, you know." It looks at me with its cute, angry smile. "I need you to go find this Kurumi girl. Okay." "No." The stuffed bear crosses its arms and starts to pout. I grab his cheeks and begin to squeeze them. "O, don't be like that. I will give you a honey treat." The bear smacks my hands away. "You can't bribe me, and just cause I'm a bear doesn't mean I like honey." "Two honey treats then?" "Make it three, and I'm in."
What time is it? I roll over to check the time on my phone. It's only ten o'clock. I roll back over and stare at the ceiling. It's my first day off in a month, and I feel like doing nothing, but I'm not tired enough to go back to sleep. Looking around my messy room that I haven't cleaned in who knows how long, I spot my school uniform still hanging up. Why haven't I thrown that out yet? Oh, right, I have been too busy working those dead-end part-time jobs. Thinking about work just makes me want to lay here all week. I wonder what it would be like to return; after all, I dropped out because I needed to pay rent after my dad stopped sending me money. I guess he probably has a new family by now and can't send me money anymore. Not that I can blame him for leaving. I would have probably done the same thing. *Ding ding* Someone was at the door, but I felt too lazy to get up to answer it. Then, the person starts rapidly ringing the bell and banging on the door. Damn it, can't you just leave me alone on my day off. I walk over to the door and open it.
"Kurumi, your rent is due!!" It was the landlady. What was her name again? I can't remember, but I do know she is like twenty years old. She has long, black, messy hair and always wears an old tracksuit. She kind of looks and even acts like a delinquent. While I was busy thinking, she peeked past me into my messy room. "WHAT THE F...?" She managed to stop herself from swearing, but she shoved the door open and moved me to the side. "HOW IN THE HELL IS YOUR ROOM SUCH A MESS!" "You know you're disturbing the neighbors." She glares at me. "AND WHO'S FAULT IS THAT!" She takes a deep breath. "You better clean this mess up, or I'm throwing you out on the streets!" She starts to leave but then stops and turns to me. "Here, I wouldn't want you to starve to death." She hands over a plastic store bag. I take it, and then she storms out. What was that about? Oh, well, free food.
I open the bag to see a bento box. Wait, did she make this herself? She doesn't look like someone who could cook. I hope it's edible. I opened the box, and it was rice and chicken, and surprisingly, it seemed really good. I took a bite of it, and it was absolutely amazing. It only took me a minute to devour all of the food. With cooking like that, she would make a great wife someday, well, if she wasn't so angry all the time. Why did she go out of her way to make me food? I wonder if I cleaned my room and paid rent on time, would she make me food again? Not that I have enough money to pay rent. I'm feeling too lazy after eating all of that to clean up. Might as well take a nap and worry about it later.
"Wake up, Kurumi." "Five more... minutes." *Smack* "What the hell." I wake up to someone slapping me. I look around and see a creepy-looking teddy bear standing next to me. "Good, you're finally aw..." I instinctively punch the bear and send it flying across my room. When I punched it and when it hit the wall, it made a squeaky noise. It stood back up. "What was that for?" Wait, that thing can talk? "To think I was here to give you a great opportunity, but now you can forget about it." It crossed its arms and started to pout. I don't know what's going on, but that thing is creeping me the hell out. I reach over, grab the baseball bat that was lying on the floor, and stand up. Bringing the bat over my head, the bear starts to panic. "Wait, let's talk..." *Squeak* *Squeak* *Squeak* I smacked the bear a few times with the bat, and the bear stopped moving. Is it dead?
My cell phone started to ring. Still facing the creepy dead bear, I slide over and grab my phone. The caller id said it was The Evil One. Who and the hell is that? I answer the call. "Hello?" "Kurumi, can you please stop trying to destroy my bear."I walk over and poke it with the bat, but it doesn't move. "Ummm... yeah... I think I might have already killed it." I could hear her let out a sigh. "That's fine. I will make a new one later. So, Kurumi, how would you like to come over to the evil side." "Evil side? What are you, some kind of cult?" "No, nothing like that. You simply do some evil things, and you will receive some rewards for doing so." "So a cult." She sighed again. "I kind of walked into that one, didn't I? Well, unlike cults, we offer you powers that you can use to obtain whatever your heart desires." "Yeah, you still sound like a cult."
"Fine, I guess I have to show you proof." A bright light and a significant wind swept through my room. When everything settled, I looked around and saw that my room had been cleaned. "See, this is the power I can offer you." "Wow, so you're a magical maid cult." "Look, there are more powers you can get. All you have to do is sign the contract, and you will see!" I can tell by the tone of her voice she was starting to get mad. "Sounds shady." I can hear her slam her hand down on something. "Look, here's the contract. See for yourself!"
A paper appeared in front of me. I dropped the bat, grabbed the paper, and read it out loud. "I will commit evil deeds for the Evil One in exchange for points that can be used to obtain powers that can be used to achieve whatever I desire. That's it?" "Yes, a very straightforward contract. So how about it? You don't exactly have a lot to lose, and you can use your points to pay the rent you owe." I facepalm. She should have just started with that. After all, if I can live a carefree life with minimal effort, then why would I not accept it. "Fine, I will do it." "Excellent, now go ahead and sign the contract." A pen appears and floats right next to me. I grab it and sign my name on the contract. "Good, it's done. I'll talk to you tomorrow." "Tomorrow...?" Just as I said it, I fell to the floor, and the world went black.
