Chapter 52:

The King of Death - Hero's Lies Arc

Engulfed in Darkness - Becoming a Villain in Another World

Schulz and Eve took off at speed and continued sprinting out of the room. Even when they were out of range, they kept running, with fear being the only thing that carried their legs.

“Who the hell was that Schulz?! I mean, what the hell!?” Eve cried out, almost out of breath. She looked around her to notice that all the drones were following them, minus one. “And we lost a drone!”

“I don’t know! I haven’t seen that guy before! Grant seemed to know him, but other than that, I’m lost on that guy. And I don’t give a shit about the drone!” Schulz responded in an almost urgent manner. “Did you not feel that guy’s presence? All I could feel was death. If we stayed there, we would be as dead as Grant is right now.”

“Surely not! Our manna far exceeds his!”

“Yes, your right in that regard, Eve,” Schulz sighed, slowing down before coming to a complete stop. “But there was something inside of him. His very soul. I can’t just help but feel as if…you stare at him the wrong way…no matter how much stronger you are than him…he would kill you.”

The people all over the world, especially in the capital, were locked into their television screens. A huge show was unfolding, and everyone couldn’t get enough of it. The crowd in the center of the capital was beginning to grow uneasy.

“Why did they run away?”

“That man couldn’t be that strong, could he?”

“Is what he said about Grant true?”

Alexander knew he had to do something. In all of his years of presenting, he knew how to deal with a dead crowd or an uneasy crowd, but not on that scale. He needed to calm them down.

By making a new story.

“Don’t you worry, everyone! Our heroes will prevail! They are just retreating to regroup! And come on, do you really believe that Grant would beat up an innocent woman? Of course not! That man, that they are going to fight, is the King of Death! A man that makes you feel dead inside, making you run away in fear!” he announced, putting on a big, goofy grin.

The crowd simultaneously ‘wowwwed' in perfect harmony. Alexander calmed down. He didn't know how long that lie would last.

Meanwhile, Hiroshi faced down Grant. He didn’t know what to feel. He was struggling. He was feeling angry at what Grant did to Wisteria, but he wanted to forget about her, as well as the others.

He would just get them killed.

He pointed his sword at Grant, aiming to strike him down.

“Get out of my way, shithead. You know how this ends,” he hissed, looking at the camera in the corner. The whole world could see him. The monster. The villain.

The King of Death.

“Yes, I do know how this ends,” Grant laughed. “With your head rolling on the cave floor. Haha! That day I met you, I pretended to be such a weakling! You must have felt so powerful. What a pathetic excuse for a human being. I could have snapped you like a twig. Feeling so high and mighty, defending your girlfriend.”

“She’s not my girlfriend. It didn’t matter who she was. I would have defended her regardless.”

“What? Why would you defend her?” Grant laughed once more. “You really are stupid yourself! Going for a dumb bitch like her!”

Grant hardly got his words out before a hand was around his throat. Hiroshi’s hand. He had travelled over fifty feet in just over a millisecond. His mouth was covered in spit, and his eyes were darker than the deepest depths of the ocean.

“I’ll fucking kill you,” Hiroshi spat in Grant’s face, before taking off at tremendous speed. He flew directly upwards, so powerfully that the floor of the cave came up with him. He smashed Grant’s head straight into the roof of the cave, and he didn’t stop there. He continued taking him through the hundreds of layers and foundations of the limestone. After six hundred feet, they both crashed through the dirt of the Earth. The drone with the camera followed closely behind.

Hiroshi kept the speed up. He launched Grant high up into the air, and pointed his left hand at him, palm facing up. A line of darkness shot out, forming the shape of a hand. It grabbed Grant around the waist, and pulled back. Grant let out a scream as it flung him back towards the ground at speed. Hiroshi flew up to meet him.

Using his right fist, he connected perfectly with Grant’s face, and he let out a grunt in pain. Hiroshi equiped and swung his sword, attempting to slice Grant clean in half.

Grant stopped the blade with his hand. Hiroshi pulled, trying to get it back. He noticed that his stainless-steel katana was turning a rusty, brown color. He pulled as hard as he could, dislodging his sword from Grant’s grasp. He went for a flurry of quick strikes, all narrowly missing Grant’s face. Going for a big, overhead strike, he missed as Grant side-stepped in the air, and launched a fist forward. Not at Hiroshi.

At his blade.

“Argh!” he yelled out, shattering the blade into tiny pieces. Hiroshi cursed himself, stepping back and dropping the handle of the sword on the ground a hundred feet below. Of course, Grant had Rust magic. A perfect counter to his katana.

“No matter. I’ll take your head off with my bare hands,” Hiroshi grinned, the adrenaline building up inside of him. He was loving every second.

“No, the one that will die is you. I loved Wisteria! You took her from me!” Grant howled. “My everything!”

“Don’t give me that bullshit. A real loving man would never lift his hands to a woman. If you really loved her, you wouldn’t abuse her. You would also know she could have killed you at any moment. She’s too damn proud, that woman,” he smiled slightly, thinking of Wisteria.

Wisteria’s eyes locked to the screen. She walked over to her television and got on her knees, her hand reaching out. She felt Hiroshi’s cheek through the screen. He made her feel so warm. She liked that.

“She could never understand me! Even as I told her of my plans for our future, I…” Grant stuttered.

“Shut up. No more talking. I’m sending you straight to hell,” Hiroshi growled. Grant smirked.

“Well, well…I really want to kill you now,” he said, licking his lips.

They charged at each other, with one thing on their minds.

Kill.

Kill.

Kill.
