Chapter 19:
Streamer Royale
"Well this is a role-reversal. Usually I'm the one doing the escaping, not trying to stop someone from escaping," Madoka quipped.
Still searching the area for signs of Grizzlar, Madoka and co had so far come up dry, but they had yet to truly explore the vast river before them.
"So what's this about the bear having a fishing rig? He supposed to be like that bear from Maroon or something?" Leona asked.
"Best way to describe him I guess. Though he just wants to eat lots of fish. Guy's got a bottomless stomach too," Kumi grumbled.
Upon reaching the riverbank, the girls noticed a rickety old fishing rig, desperately trying to sail away. No crew members appeared to be present on it though, giving Madoka pause.
"Is it a trap?" Nika asked.
"High chance. Or at the least, a diversion. We're too far away from it, but we could catch it if we ran-"
"Then allow me," Kumi grinned as she turned into lightning.
Before she could zap away though, she found herself ensnared in a net.
"Miku, listen for a second, will you! Madoka just said it could be a trap, so why are you trying to blast over there?"
"Because if it's a trap, I just zap it!"
"And if rubber's involved? Kumi, you aren't invincible."
And just as Nika said that, the boat sank into the river.
"Lol, that bear just drowned," Iori snickered.
"He can turn into water, and breath just fine," Nika grumbled.
"Really!? Fucking bull- Wait! Could he be hiding in the river then!?"
Nika let out a sigh and released Kumi, who began grinning from ear to ear as she whipped out a bolt of lightning and began wielding it like a baton.
"Guess we'll find out!" she grinned as she walked over to the river bank ad plunged her lightning bolt into it.
The blue river quickly turned yellow as static electricity began coursing down it. Fried fish floated to the surface, but no sign of Grizzlar, that was until he bubbled up to the surface with his fur all frizzy and covered in soot.
"Damn lightning! Oh wait, you got some fish. Guess you get paid. Wait I fired you, so no need, these fish are mine!" Grizzler growled as he attempted to scoop up the fish.
Now it was time for Kumi to go in for the attack, leading to yet another clash between the two.
"How'd you figure it out? I even had a trap on that boat!"
"You can't escape from the escape witch, that's why!"
"Um, I didn't really do much," Madoka nervously smiled.
"But it was a cool line," Leona grinned.
"So now what do we do? Sit and watch?" Iori grumbled as she plopped down on the ground.
"No, we should try to-"
"EVERYONE! WE GOTTA RUN! KUMI! GET BACK HERE!" Madoka shouted.
Everyone shot Madoka an odd glance, until they heard a sound and noticed a red German Fokker in the distance. Red Reaper was coming.
"Shit! That undead skeleton's coming back! Hey Kumi! Drag us out of here!" Iori shouted.
Kumi clicked her tongue and attempted to do so, but found her path blocked by a wall of water.
"Sorry brat, but this here's the real trap. Looks like you get your battle, at the cost of your friends," Grizzlar snickered.
"Like hell!" Kumi shouted as she turned into lightning and pierced through the barrier in a single go, snatching up everyone and zapping away with them.
"In an instant... Damn. She also got a good fish haul. Ugh, maybe I'll send her the pay via Ewetupe super chat. My head will keep pounding if I don't, and I like to enjoy my meals without headaches," Grizzlar grumbled as he pulled out his phone.
