As the dust settled and the tension faded, Renji looked up at My-My, still perched in the tree. He patted the Earth Bear's lifeless body, then smirked.
"Come on down, My." His voice was light, casual—like he hadn't just slaughtered a monster moments ago.
My-My hesitated. She glanced at the massive corpse, then back at Renji. That fight… the way he transformed—it sent a chill down her spine. But at the same time, she felt safe. Like no matter what, if he was around, she wouldn't have to worry about getting hurt.
Still, something about him had shifted.
Taking a breath, she pushed aside her doubts and dropped down.
Before she could land, Renji caught her effortlessly.
"Gotcha."
But before he could make another smug remark, My-My quickly wiggled out of his grasp and took a step back.
Renji blinked. "Huh?"
She looked a little flustered. Normally, she was all touchy and friendly with people. But now? She seemed hesitant.
Weird.
Shaking it off, he turned back to the bear and grabbed its massive body with one hand. With an almost lazy movement, he lifted it onto his shoulder like it weighed nothing.
"I'll carry it for you," he said.
My-My stared for a moment, then nodded. "Thank you, Renji. I truly mean it."
He glanced at her, noticing the sincerity in her tone. "No problem, My."
The two began walking, moving through the thick forest back toward the meeting point. The trees stretched high above them, the occasional rustle of unseen creatures filling the air.
After a moment, My-My suddenly perked up. "Wait, Renji—what about your animal?"
Renji chuckled. "Oh, that? Don't worry about it. I'll make something happen."
My-My tilted her head. "Make something happen? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Exactly what it sounds like." He gave her a wink. "I'll improvise."
She pouted. "You're so weird sometimes."
"And yet you're still walking with me."
My-My huffed but didn't argue.
Meanwhile Ro-Ro trudged through the dense undergrowth, hands stuffed in his pockets, a deep scowl on his face. His sharp eyes darted around, scanning every shadow, every rustling leaf.
"Tch. I swear, if Renji is doing something to my sister, I'll kill that son of a bitch," he muttered, jaw tightening.
The thought of Renji alone with My-My bothered him. He didn't trust that guy. Sure, Renji was strong, maybe even stronger than him. But that didn't mean shit if he so much as looked at My-My the wrong way.
"I don't care if he's stronger than me. I'll still kick his ass."
Pushing past a thick branch, he scanned the area again. Nothing. No movement, no signs of his target.
"Where the hell is this bastard?" he growled, referring to the three-headed panther he was supposed to be hunting.
Then—
A low, rumbling growl echoed through the trees.
Ro-Ro's lips curled into a grin.
"Finally."
Ro-Ro's sharp eyes locked onto the massive beast perched in the treetops. The panther's three heads moved in eerie unison, their glowing eyes locked onto him like a predator staring down its next meal.
Ro-Ro shoved his hands into his pockets and let out a slow exhale. Tch. Figures I'd get the toughest one.
"Uh… hi?" he muttered, his voice laced with fake politeness.
The panther responded immediately—by leaping down with terrifying speed, claws outstretched.
"Shit!" Ro-Ro threw himself into a roll just in time, barely dodging the attack as the ground where he had been standing exploded in a flurry of dirt and shattered rock.
Springing to his feet, he smirked. "Ha! You missed, dumbass—"
Before he could finish, the middle head opened its mouth—
BOOOOM!
A powerful ultrasonic wave blasted outward, slamming into Ro-Ro like a truck. The force sent him skidding backward, his ears ringing so badly he thought his brain was about to leak out of his skull.
"Ghh—DAMN!" He clutched his head, gritting his teeth in pain. What the hell was that?!
Before he could recover, the left head's jaws snapped open, releasing a torrent of flames that roared toward him like a blazing inferno.
"Oh, HELL NO—!"
He barely threw himself out of the way before the fire scorched the ground where he had been, leaving a blackened crater.
Before he could breathe, the right head fired a jet of pressurized water, slamming into him like a high-speed cannonball. The impact sent him flipping through the air, crashing against a tree hard enough to make it shake.
"Ghh—shit…!" He groaned, forcing himself up, his body screaming in pain.
The panther stood before him, its three heads staring down at him with a menacing intelligence, as if mocking him.
Ro-Ro spit to the side and cracked his neck. "Okay, this ain't fair. You get three abilities? Come on now, that's just greedy."
The beast responded by rushing forward at full speed.
Ro-Ro's eyes narrowed. Screw this.
He clenched his right fist, Ti-Bu surging into his arm. His muscles tensed as raw power flowed through him, his veins pulsing with energy.
"FIST!" he roared, swinging with all his might.
His punch connected squarely with the panther's left head, the force shattering the air with a BOOM! The impact sent the massive beast slamming into the ground, its entire body rolling from the sheer power behind the blow.
Ro-Ro exhaled, shaking out his hand. The adrenaline was still pumping, but he felt it—
That was one.
Alright… I can only use my fist three times before my arm goes numb, and my Ti-Bu shuts down. I already used it once. If I use it two more times, I'm done.
The panther's three heads snarled in unison as it slowly rose, shaking off the impact. Its eyes burned with renewed fury.
Ro-Ro dropped into his fighting stance, a cocky smirk creeping across his face.
"Round two, bitch."
The ground trembled as the panther pushed itself up, its three heads snarling in unison. Blood dripped from the left head's mouth, the result of Ro-Ro's devastating punch, but the beast wasn't anywhere near finished.
Ro-Ro rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck as he locked eyes with the beast. "Tch… tough bastard, huh?"
The air between them grew thick with tension.
Then—
BOOM!
The panther lunged first, moving unnaturally fast for its massive size. Ro-Ro barely had time to react before the middle head opened its jaws—
VWOOOOM!
A shockwave of pure sound blasted forward, warping the air itself. Ro-Ro barely twisted his body in time, avoiding a direct hit, but the sheer force shattered the tree behind him into splinters.
Before he could reposition, the left head unleashed a torrent of fire.
"Oh, COME ON—!"
He threw himself into a roll, flames licking at his back as the heat scorched the air around him. He had no time to breathe—the right head fired a jet of water, the pressure so intense it tore through the ground like a blade.
Ro-Ro planted his feet, spinning to the side at the last second, the water missing him by mere inches.
The moment he landed—
The panther was already there.
It twisted mid-air, claws slashing down at Ro-Ro's chest.
"Shit—!"
Ro-Ro barely crossed his arms in time, blocking the hit, but the impact sent him flying back, crashing through a tree and skidding across the dirt.
Dirt and leaves rained down as he groaned, shaking his arms. Blood dripped from the fresh gashes along his forearms, his Ti-Bu softening the damage but not completely negating it.
"Damn thing's fast… but so am I."
He wiped the blood from his mouth and grinned.
The panther was already charging again.
Ro-Ro exploded forward, meeting it head-on.
The two clashed in a flurry of movement, their speed blurring as they exchanged blows.
The panther's claws slashed out, aiming for Ro-Ro's neck—
He ducked.
The middle head shot out an ultrasonic blast—
He sidestepped, flipping mid-air.
The left head spat fire—
Ro-Ro spun, barely avoiding the flames as they singed the ground beneath him.
In response, Ro-Ro lashed out with a sharp knee to the beast's ribs, the impact sending shockwaves through the air. The beast reeled back, but its right head snapped forward, aiming to bite his shoulder off.
Ro-Ro saw it coming.
"Too slow!"
He twisted his torso mid-air, grabbing the panther's fur and using it as leverage to swing himself over its back. As he flipped behind the beast, he slammed his elbow down onto its spine, making it stagger forward.
The panther snarled in frustration, its tails whipping around to strike him—
Ro-Ro backflipped away just in time.
"You really got no openings, huh?" he muttered, breathing heavy.
The panther's three heads growled in unison, its muscles flexing as it prepared to charge again.
Ro-Ro clenched his fists. Shit… I need to end this soon. If I use my FIST technique two more times, I'm out of Ti-Bu. I gotta make these last shots count.
The panther rushed forward again.
Ro-Ro met it with his own charge.
The battlefield exploded as the two fighters clashed once more—
A deadly blur of movement.
The panther's left head snapped at his leg—
Ro-Ro leapt over it.
The middle head blasted sound waves—
Ro-Ro twisted mid-air, dodging the attack by mere inches.
The right head went for his ribs—
Ro-Ro blocked with his forearm, pain shooting through his bones.
He retaliated with a rising kick, smashing the beast's jaw upward—only for the middle head to counter with a brutal headbutt to his chest.
"GHH—!"
Ro-Ro coughed blood, skidding back. His vision blurred for a second, his ribs screaming in pain.
"That all you got?!" he snarled, wiping his mouth.
The panther rushed him again.
"Alright, bitch—FIST!"
Ro-Ro's Ti-Bu surged as he cocked back his right arm—
BOOM!
His punch smashed into the panther's middle head, the sheer force causing the ground beneath them to crack apart. The beast staggered back, dazed.
But Ro-Ro wasn't done.
"LAST ONE—FIST!"
Before the panther could react, Ro-Ro twisted his entire body, throwing his final punch into its chest—
The shockwave erupted outward, sending the three-headed beast flying back, crashing through three trees before skidding to a stop.
Ro-Ro stood there, panting, sweat dripping down his face.
His right arm fell limp.
Shit… there goes my Ti-Bu. My arm's useless now.
The dust settled—
The panther struggled to stand, its legs trembling beneath its weight. Blood poured from its mouths, its eyes losing focus.
"Damn… tough bastard."
The beast let out a low, defeated growl—then collapsed.
Ro-Ro smirked, his vision hazy from exhaustion.
"Tch. Barely made it."
Then—he fell to his knees, gasping for breath.
"Yeah… I ain't moving for a while."
Then—
A rustling in the bushes.
His ears perked up. Something's coming…
He tried to move, but his body refused. He could only watch as two figures emerged from the underbrush, stepping into view.
Bojack and Veger.
Bojack was holding a massive snake—its body still twitching as if it had just been slain—while Veger walked beside him, eyes scanning the area with cold amusement.
Ro-Ro let out an annoyed groan. Just my luck…
"Ah, great. What the hell are you two doing here?" he muttered, glaring up at them.
Bojack tilted his head, then snapped his fingers. "Ohhh, I remember you! You're that kid who was carrying that guy on your back while climbing the cliff."
Veger nodded, his smirk widening. "Yeah… I'm actually kinda impressed. Didn't think a punk like you would make it this far."
Ro-Ro scoffed. "Whatever."
Bojack turned his attention to the three-headed panther, its unconscious body sprawled across the ground, still bleeding from Ro-Ro's final blow.
His eyes widened. "Wait a sec, Veger… isn't this the monster you were looking for?"
Veger blinked, then grinned. "Yeah… yeah, I think it is."
Ro-Ro's stomach dropped.
"You better not be doing what I think you're doing," he growled, struggling to push himself up. His muscles screamed in protest, but his pride refused to let him stay down.
Veger turned to him with an arrogant smirk. "Or what, kid? Face it—you can barely move. You're in no position to stop us."
He casually reached for his gun, spinning it on his finger. "I could just shoot you right now, y'know. Not that I'd have to. You look like you'll pass out any second anyway."
Ro-Ro gritted his teeth, trying again to stand, but his legs wobbled, refusing to support him.
Bojack laughed. "Man, you're one stubborn little bastard."
Then, without hesitation, he grabbed the black panther's lifeless body, hoisting it over his shoulder.
Ro-Ro's rage boiled over.
"You son of a—!"
But his body betrayed him. He tried to lunge forward, but his knees buckled, and he nearly collapsed.
Veger shook his head mockingly. "Tsk, tsk. Should've paced yourself, kid. Maybe then you wouldn't be in this situation."
He crouched down to Ro-Ro's level, staring him dead in the eyes.
"You did all the hard work… and now we're taking the reward. That's just how the world works."
Ro-Ro's fists tightened so hard his nails dug into his palms, drawing blood. His vision was pulsing red, his heartbeat hammering in his ears.
"You bastards think you can just—"!
Bojack cut him off with a wave. "Blah, blah, blah. You done talking? 'Cause we're done listening."
With that, he grabbed the giant snake, slinging it over his other shoulder.
Ro-Ro could do nothing but watch as they turned away, carrying their stolen prizes.
Every fiber of his being screamed at him to move, to fight, to stop them—
But he couldn't.
His body had finally reached its limit.
As his vision blurred even more, darkness creeping at the edges, he heard their laughter fade into the distance.
His last thought before passing out was simple—
"I swear to God, I'll make those bastards pay."
Ro-Ro groaned, rubbing his temples as he staggered down the dirt road. "Great. Just great. I bust my ass, nearly die, and for what? Just so those bastards can waltz in and steal my prize?!"
He clenched his fists, his body still aching all over. "And of course, now my legs decide to work. Oh, sure, body—real funny timing."
He paused, then muttered to himself, "Oh, you're welcome, Ro." He let out a dry chuckle. "Hahaha… why the hell am I talking to myself?"
As he stepped out of the woods, he spotted My-My and Renji standing nearby.
"Ro-Ro! Are you okay?!" My-My gasped, rushing over to him, her eyes full of concern. She started checking him over like a mother hen, her hands hovering around his bruises.
"My… I need you to give me the pills."
"Oh!" My-My fumbled through her pouch, pulling out a small bottle. She quickly unscrewed the cap, and Ro-Ro snatched it from her hands, downing the pills in one gulp.
Renji crossed his arms, eyeing him suspiciously. "Oi, Ro-Ro, what the hell happened to you?"
Ro-Ro wiped his mouth and turned on his heel. "No time to explain!"
Before they could stop him, he took off into the forest, sprinting through the trees despite his throbbing limbs.
"Please, please, please let there be another black panther," he begged internally, his eyes scanning wildly. He had 12 minutes left. That wasn't enough time to rest—he had to find another target.
And then—
BAM!
He crashed into someone, nearly falling backward.
"Ow, you dumb bit—!" He stopped mid-insult, recognizing the girl in front of him.
Lyra.
She put a finger to her lips, silencing him. "Shhh. They're about to fight."
Ro-Ro blinked, confused. "Who's fighting?"
Lyra pointed ahead. Ro-Ro crouched beside her, parting the bushes slightly to get a look.
In the clearing—
A three-headed black panther stood its ground, all three pairs of eyes locked onto something. But it wasn't alone.
Facing off against it was a massive, towering beast—a Skelvane, a creature that looked like a skeletal gorilla with obsidian-black bones and flaming cracks running across its ribcage. Its head was skull-like, with hollow sockets burning with eerie blue flames, and its hands ended in razor-sharp claws, capable of tearing through steel.
Ro-Ro's eyes widened. What the hell…?
The panther and the Skelvane circled each other, tension crackling in the air.
Ro-Ro's heart pounded. This was his chance.
"Ohhh, I need that panther," he muttered.
Lyra raised a brow. "Funny. I need that Skelvane."
Ro-Ro glanced at her, then back at the clearing. "Huh. What a coincidence."
Lyra crossed her arms. "Sooo… how are we doing this?"
Ro-Ro scratched the back of his head. "Tell ya what—I'll help you fight the Skelvane since I owe you. Twice, actually."
Lyra's eyes narrowed. "Really? Just like that?"
Ro-Ro forced a grin. "Of course. I mean… what kind of guy doesn't pay back his debts, right?"
She studied him for a moment, then sighed. "Fine. But don't slow me down."
Ro-Ro cracked his knuckles, a fire lighting in his eyes. "Tch. You better keep up with me."
